...Well, well. I’ve just stumbled across this site and noticed a pair of Nicole SD522 active speakers that I have been using happily for over 5 years. Haven’t seen these units (or the manufacturers/suppliers name) mentioned anywhere else on the web which is a shame because they’re extremely good little speakers. Seeing as they’ve given me such good service, it’s only fair I review them and I feel as qualified as anyone to do this, as I’ve been involved with top end hi-fi systems for longer than I care to admit. When I bought a computer 6 years ago, I needed decent speakers because the supplied set was pretty dire so I visited a local computer fair. ...to go very loud!!!! A dial on the speaker sees to controlling the volume, which you can turn clockwise to make it go louder. To turn them off, you can turn it all the way anticlockwise until it clicks. When they are on, on the speaker with the dials, a red light is lit up. This is handy incase you forget to turn them off at night, as the red light will remind you. ~~~DURABILITY~~~ As I have had these type of speakers for such a long time they have certainly been through their share of tear and wear! They have been dropped off the table countless times and one speaker has a dent in the blue materialised section to prove it! Unfortunately Nicole's beginning to show her age, and the speakers do have some problems to go along with it (bear in mind this is after approx 8 years of working perfectly). ...Gray Nicolls Millenuim My Son has actually got this bat , and by the way that he has been batting recently it must be a very good bat! .. I have been playing with it in my local cricket club nets with my son! .. And when you hit it in the middle it just pings off ! Even the smallest tap and it has gone for 4! .. ...I received these speakers as a Birthday present in March from a friend. I was thrilled with them as I had been desperate for a docking station or speakers to play my iPod on. The speakers: The speakers are very attractive and compact yet produce a rich deep bass sound, which is not always present on speakers of this size. They are very lightweight and fold to close at 15 ounces and 8 inches wide, 5.4 inches deep and 1.2 inches thick. The box the speakers come in quotes "With four AA batteries your speakers will play continuously for twenty-four hours" which sounds brilliant but in my experience on 2 x AA batteries they will play for 19 hours. With a beautifully crafted real wood veneer, a very modern looking silver alloy driver and a gold coloured metallic tweeter protected by silver mesh they manage to mix the old with contemporary perfectly. Too many speaker's within the S1's price and performance range have a very bland, old fashioned appearance. At the other end of the spectrum very modern and exotically styled speakers do so at the expensive of looking a bit cheap and plasticky. The S1's balanced appearance of old with new was what first attracted me to them . One of the unique features I like most about the design is the fact that the round metal mesh protecting the tweeter can be removed, in the same way you would remove the speaker cover's. ...I got these speaker is 2004 and they are still going strong. I have taken them on holiday, to school and they are now my computer speakers. They can be used about every where. Amazing peice of kit. ( been half way around the world) Hardley dented at all. Unlike normal computer speakers or portable speakers these include a small amplifier with the volume control and added "bass boost " controls. This is really great as the speakers can be on another shelf and the amplifier can be on your desk so you can control them without moving all the time. -The speakers- The speakers are really great quality and can deliver a vast range of tones easily. ...I brought my set of tannoys 15 months ago and, at the time,they cost £300.Now,with a little searching around,they can be obtained for under £200. What you get in the box is five satellite speakers(two front,two rear and a centre speaker) plus a seperate powered subwoofer. You also get wall mounted supports for the two front and two rear speakers and all the speaker cables(i changed the cables to 79 stand q.e.d. speaker cable to improve the sound). Setting up the system is relatively easy:you just need an electric drill for the the wall mounted stands and once fitted,you just connect the cables to your home cinema amp. Easy!! Once you have connected everything,it is time to try out the system. My first reaction and i am sure yours will be the same was one of complete disbelief!! ...Firstly these speakers are known by various names, but they are basically the 6 1/2" or 165mm fit component speakers from Infinity. eg REF605CS or REF6500cs are two other names used. These are the cheaper component - the Kappa range are more expensive, but look very similar. Prices are generally between £90 and £120 I paid just under £100 including carriage from an internet reseller. The speakers came with a large amount of fitting accessories, including grills and tweater flush mount kits, I needed very little of this as I was replacing original fit speakers in a Vauxhall Omega - which were burnt out. Other things I needed were Vauxhall to 6 1/2" speaker adaptor kits, self adhesive pads, wire and a lot of time. There are not many instructions as fitting speakers is different in every car, I had to use the Haynes manual... Read review

I can't surf the Internet or write reviews unless I'm listening to music or the radio.
