Probably the best firm ground boots ever
Review of Nike Air Zoom Mercurial F.G. by beanie8844

Advantages: Lightweight, Long-lasting, Comfortable
Disadvantages: Little protection from injury

...As a football coach who also plays competitvely twice a week my choice of football boots is extremely important. When playing on soft ground I use the new Adidas F50+ boots, but when the ground is hard there is no substitute for the Nike Air Zoom Mercurials. With a pricetag of over £100 they are expensive, but will prove tremendous value for money in the long term. I've had my pair for two years now, but you wouldn't know it apart from the studs being slightly worn down. The best feature of the boots is how little they weigh (approx 185g), giving you the feeling of being able to run faster and accelerate away or towards an opponent. The shape of the boots and the soft leather make a great contact surface with the football for accurate passing and shooting. They are also extremely comfortable to wear. The only negative thing you can... Read review

Nike Mercurial Vapor II is 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS!
Review of Nike Mercurial II SG by kofi_goso

Advantages: Very Light, good quality and very cheap.
Disadvantages: Not very comfortable.

...Nike Mercurial Vapor II SG was being worn by the world fastest and greatest footballers such as Ronaldo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry and more. It is superlight weighing only 200g and it's handmade from Italy. It used to be the lightest football boot but was outrun by the Nike Mercurial Vapor III which only weighs around 185g but Nike Mercurial Vapor II is still a good choice cause it is stylish definitely cheap and your money worth. It is made out of Nike Skin which is a superlight and very thin material. Lightweight performance boot doesn't matter if you are a Sunday league or a professional player the Nike Mercurial Vapor II SG is a good choice for every type of player. The Studs provides perfect agility and acceleration giving you the player a head start on all the others. You can buy this product at eBay for just 20£ to 40... Read review

Lightweight and Stylish
Review of Nike Mercurial II SG by KPN7

Advantages: Light, Stylish, Professionally endorsed
Disadvantages: Thin leather which can lead to injuries

.... however this would add weight to the boot therefore it comes down to swings and roundabouts as the saying goes. The studs underneath the boot are correctly placed unlike other nike football boots and are metal studs encased in high density plastic. Replacement studs are easily accsessible from retailers such as JJB sports and leading sports shops. In general I would say if you can try these boots before you purchase as they arent for everyone.... Read review

The Boot!
Review of Adidas Predator Precision by JOSH1007

Advantages: Maybe they curl the ball.
Disadvantages: Maybe they dont

...is this boot the boot of all boots allot of famous and not so famous footballers thimk so. the would knows about david beckhams great free kicks but is that his skill or the boot. if it is the boot how come hes getting all the money and not someone else and how come there isnt anyone else as good as him. i must admit my boots help curl a football around the wall but why? what do those little things do.many other footballers can curl a ball just as good and they dont waer addidas predators. Rivaldo wears mizuno. roberto carlos wears nike. and the list goes on so are they just a rip off or do they really work.... Read review

Beautiful boots for the beautiful game
Review of Nike Mercurial II SG by DJGraham

Advantages: Light weight, Attractive colours
Disadvantages: Narrow

...These boots were highly recommended to me by lots of people and part time footballers I know. Being a teenage boy, I love playing football and spend alot of time training and competing. Quite a few players from my team have a pair of Nike Mercurials and I can see why. When I was looking for a new pair of boots, I went to my nearest sports retailers and tried on many pairs of boots looking for the right ones for me. I tried on a pair of Mercurials and I was surprised at how light weight they were, they honestly felt like I weren't wearing them! Infact the boots weight less than 200g!!! They offer superb fit and moulds around the foot. This offers a great touch and feel when playing football. The boots have made my game more consistent and gives me more confidence when playing. Now I can strut around the pitch like Thierry Henry... Read review

Trainer Heaven
Review of Nike Total 90 T.F. by mercedes007

Advantages: comfy looks good
Disadvantages: None

...Absoloutely amazing. That is how I would describe this most recent piece of technology by nike. This boot mat well be an astro turf boot but this is one boot that will not be forgotten for a while. Its said to be just like wearing a foot sock playing in them, and I agree. The level of comfort in these astroturfs is outstanding, I have never played in such comfortable boots. They have enhanced cushioning on the soles and the heels and can be worn for casual use or for playing football. For me, they are great for both. They are a very attractive boot and playing in them not only feels good, but it also looks good. The tongue on them is an automatic fold over, so it doesn't mean you have to be trying for hours to keep the tongue down on them. There is a vast choice of colours including, blue, red, yellow, aluminium silver and black... Read review

The Defenders Boot!
Review of Adidas World Cup by ForestMad

Advantages: Built for sheer comfort
Disadvantages: Not as stylish as other lead brands but then does style make you a better player?!

...Put quite simply - this is the best boot I have ever worn throughout my football career. The durability and quality of leather are second to no other boot on the market. However its biggest appeal in the market must be the comfort of the boot. You could quite easily lounge round the house in these boots if it wasn't for the studs on the bottom! I can think of only one downside to the boot - many people criticise there looks? But then as a simple kick and head defender - looks are not the top of my priority! They may not look like the leading Nike or Predatior boots but they have every right to be placed alongside them in terms of quality. The fold over tongue have been kept by addidas as well as the superb stud control. There will never be a problem getting a full season out of one pair (minimum 50 games). The durability cannot... Nike mercurial vapor II
Review of Nike Mercurial II SG by davezzzzz

Advantages: Light, stylish
Disadvantages: not the strongest of boots, slightly uncomfortable

...Well if there is one thing I would consider myself to be in-the-know about it is football and especially football boots. Being an avid footballer myself, playing around 5 times a week, I find that the best equipment is essential. This season I am wearing the adidas tunits, however throughout the last I wore these for soft ground conditions. Well..who are the boots for? As advertised, these are predominantly a lightweight boot, made for those who need the extra edge in speed over other players and those that rely on their pace. They can be used for other players obviously, but I would recommend a different boot - these boots can be a problem for some players, like my team's full back - he was wearing a pair of these for just the third time when he mis-timed a tackle and put a great big tear down the side!!! Price range? Obviously... Read review

Total 90 = 90/90
Review of Nike Total 90 T.F. by jackiechan

Advantages: Comfortable, Stylish and Good Price
Disadvantages: None

....99, they were in a sale. A normal price of about £50-£60 you would normally expect to pay for this type of Astro-Turf boots. They can be bought from all good sport shops, eg. JJB, ALSPORTS and NIKE shop. **Grip/Comfort** Their is little bobbles on the bottom of this shoe which makes them ideal for football, hockey, netball etc. and are especially made for the astro-turf. The grip saves you slipping and can even keep you on your feet on a slightly wet grass. These are also great for jumping like, triple jump, long jump and high jump because of the grip and how comfortable you feel in them. The shoe is ideal for the movements made in football! **Protection** These have a great material that they are made of and keep you protected well. If you get stamped on by another astro shoe it cushions your feet nicely. Comfortable whatever position you're in... Read review

A good old, durable football boot
Review of Nike Tiempo Pro S.G. by jondav

Advantages: A comfortable, durable football boot
Disadvantages: A little clumsy

...The Nike Tiempo Pro SG is a lightweight boot designed for durability and comfort. It is indeed very comfortable when worn and has lasted me many Saturday afternoons! The Tiempo Pro SG is relatively cheap and can be found at between £15-£30 second hand. The boot is made from "full grain leather with a Duraplush collar lining" which does give the boot a comfortable feel. The SG is to be used on soft surfaces but it does have interchangeable studs and if your are playing on different surfaces then the corresponding studs can be purchased from most sports shops. The boot does have good control, although as I talk of later, it is a little clumsy looking. The boot also has a forefoot lip which enhances durability and can be tucked over the laces. The boot's only negative that I have found, is that compared to the new generation... Read review
