...Cycling Weekly (The Comic ) as it is known in the Cycling World is an excellent read. I have been buying this magazine for years now and never miss an issue. It costs £1.60 and like it's name comes out every week. I usually send my wife out to buy it on a Thursday from WHS. The magazine covers British and Foreign Cycling. You have the regular sections : Write to reply, you can voice your comments about cycling issues, Racing usually local events. Time Trials , all the latest gossip, Local news and Final Word , this is always an interview with a cyclist. There are features on cycling clothing, bike parts, bikes tested etc. many adverts on where to buy products . personnel adverts people selling cycling items.Even people wanting items. Results of races. I also like it when The Tour is on and there is a special edition just for that event... Read review

...Having just completed 1000 mile Lands End- John Ogroats on a super galaxy I can do nothing but praise it. Before starting the trip it was about 3yrs old and had been cycled hard. I made some slight modifications an put on spd cleats, suspention seat post and Terrys saddle and Panracer kevlar slik tyres. I cycled through some appalling weather but the bike was as fresh when I finished as when I started. None of the spoks loosened and when cycling at speed the ridgidity got me out of some tight scrapes. My next trip is Winchester to Santiago in northern Spain . Spring 2001. ...HI I have been cycling ever since I was so small I cant remember! However, When I was about 12 I joined a cycling club called Team Darenth (www.teamdarenthuk.homestead.com). This team is established to encourage & to get kids into cycling. They use many coaches and provide a variety of activities (cycling based) inorder to improve a childs balance, handling and overall confidence on a bike. They had members as young as 5, and members as old as 60ish (Dads & Mums can join in to)! I enjoyed it so much there I went on to take cycling seriously & raced, even competed in National races. The kids are given a choice whether or not they want to take cycling further & race, however guidance and feedback is provided to assess the childs performance on a bike. ...How would a cyclist describe cycling? It's fun for a start, as I find there is nothing better than waking up early and cycling a couple of miles, the feeling as you push off with the air rushing past is almost unbeatable in thus calm rush it gives you. The second aspect of cycling is fitness. When I say this to most people they gabble on about how some bloke on his expensive road bike clad in lycra held them up while they were driving along in air conditioned comfort. But it is more than that, the great thing about cycling is that you can feel the improvement, you may never be able to go more than 40 miles but if you try you can get close. Now for the bit where I have to focus on the worst part of being a cyclist, traffic and pedestrians. Most drivers would like all cyclists to ride on the pavements to leave 'their' roads clear. ...I saw the most amazing thing not so long ago. A woman with the following notice pinned to her back: “BABY IN TUMMY ON BOARD”. What worried me was the fact that this was rush hour in central London and the woman was on a bike without a helmet. She was wearing a Day-Glo top but how she thought that a note on her back telling the world that she was pregnant was going to save her goodness only knows! $$$ Cycling as a Mode of Transport $$$ Cycling seems to be becoming more and more popular in the City these days. I applaud anyone who can get on their bike in the midst of such heavy and unpredictable traffic to make the journey to and from work. There is no question that cycling is one of the most environmentally friendly ways of travelling and it should be encouraged and not dismissed as a transportation option. The problem I have... ...i Bought this washing machine to replace a hoover quattro 1100spin that i had used nearly every day for 6 years. The HNF2137 has a large load capacity of 7.5kg but only on certain cycles some cycles can only take 3.5kg which is a big difference. The door is wide opening and much easier to load or unload and to keep the inside clean. It has a countdown timer but this is only divided into 60mins, 30 mins and 15mins so you never now how long over an hour is left. There is also a door lock indicater light so you don't try to open the door before its ready to open. There is a variable temperature control and the machine feeds only from the cold water supply and then heats to the required temperature. This is probably the main reason the wash cycles take so long. The 40 degree coloured cycle takes 2 hours + 15 mins to complete. Although... Read review

...I have just learnt this week from my Cycling Weekly magazine that Channel 4 is to axe the coverage of the greatest event of all time, The Tour de France, instead they are putting on more cricket. I am so angry that I had to send David Kerr (Head of C4) an email. ~The decision to drop cycling bewilders me , last year in the Tour De France , David Millar, a British rider was the winner of the first stage and wore the "Yellow Jersey" (shows who's winner by wearing this). Obviously it was great publicity for Channel 4. The stature of British Cycling has risen to an all time high, because of our riders success, at the olympics and various World Championships. Armchair fans and cyclists would have expected cycling coverage to increase not vanish! I know for a fact, that people who don't normally follow cycling , eagerly await each days... Read review

...I have used Merlin cycles for over 10 years and have always found their mail order service to be excellent. Goods products always at competitive prices. My first contact with Merlin was when I need ed some wheels, following a good review in MBUK I took the plunge and purchased a set and have never looked back since. Although they now mainly do their business throught their website you can still give them a call for any advice you may need or to check on delivery, something that seems to be missing in this new email world. Customer service with goods prices what more could you want. If you go up to the Lake District like me occasionally why not call in to their shop and see before you buy.... Read review
