A different taste of Mexico
Review of General: Mexico by  nicolavidal

Advantages: cheap, good climate, friendly people
Disadvantages: expect to pay tips in most places

...I have always been very interested in ancient culture and history, so when I had the chance to go to Mexico one of my long life dreams came true. Choosing the best alternative wasn’t an easy task but I finally decided upon an organized tour of 9 days that would cover 1500 km and cross 2 Mexican States: Peninsula del Yucatan and Chiapas. Before you travel there are a few tips to bear in mind: 1.Mexico is a large country so don’t think that you’ll be hot everywhere, temperatures can range from cool to very hot. 2.Wear comfortable clothes and shoes (if you’re going to visit the ruins and jungle it is advisable not to wear open style shoes; there are scorpions, snakes, etc that could bite you). 3.High protection suntan and mosquito repellent is strongly advisable. 4.Only drink bottled water. Don’t know... Read review

Love this film!
Review of Once Upon A Time In Mexico DVD by  Kaddywyn

Advantages: Johnny Depp, great soundtrack
Disadvantages: A bit gory in places

...I bought this DVD not really knowing what it was about or what to expect. (To be honest, I was only interested in Johnny Depp!) But as soon as I watched it I thought it was amazing! I actually watched it everyday without fail for weeks. It's about the hero "El Mariachi" (Banderas) who is persuaded to take revenge on the man who killed his family, by corrupt CIA agent Sands (Depp). It might not have a great plot, but it's just a great film. Johnny Depp's character, Sands, is so entertaining and has some great lines. The characters work well together too. The soundtrack is also excellent, it goes really well with the film and there are some good songs. I also think it's good that Antonio Banderas' character played his guitar solo himself. Although I haven't seen the first two films of this trilogy, Once Upon A Time In Mexico... Read review

Viva la revolution
Review of Once Upon A Time In Mexico DVD by  hmd3

Advantages: A masterclass in storytelling, filming, fighting and acting!
Disadvantages: The last in the triology ( damn, damn and double damn )

...of the film far better and also highlights the emotions of what the characters are going through. To conclude Once Upon A Time in Mexico is a fantastic finale to the Robert Rodriguez trilogy, the film is fast, stylish and humorous, and is directed in such a beautiful way. Although slightly confusing for some, the acting is brilliant and when the stories come together the result is truly breathtaking. A must see for all fans of action movies and those who love films by Tarantino as the resemblance is very similar. Once upon a time in Mexico cost's around £8.00 however I would recommend buying it as part of the El Mariachi trilogy so that you too can follow this incredible journey.... Read review

Are you Mexi-can, or are you Mexi-can't
Review of Once Upon A Time In Mexico DVD by  gunda96

Advantages: Great action sequences, good cast, entertaining
Disadvantages: inconsistent storyline, no emotional connection to characters

...Once Upon a time in Mexico is the third and final(?) film in this trilogy by director Robert Rodriguez. This film is easily the most ambitious of the three. Although the plot doesn't seem to have changed a great deal, Rodriguez does manage to add numerous overdramatic stunts and action scenes. El Mariachi, the legendary gun slinging guitar player, carrying his guns in his guitar case is awoken out of hiding when the lives of the people in the town he is living, are threatened by a group of hoodlums, working for CIA Agent Sands, played by Johnny Depp. He offers money to El in exchange for his services in killing General Marquez, the head of a military force in Mexico, who himself has a plan to take out the president and assume leadership. Because Mexico is regarded as a place in political turmoil and very unstable, it is commonly... Read review

Riu Tequila, Playacar Mexico
Review of Playacar, Mexico by  Nerox

Advantages: Warm, Friendly, Calm, Very Relaxng OR Fun Filled
Disadvantages: 9 Hour Flight, Very Expensive For Trips

...growing for hundreds of year. it all really is amazing. then off to a few more sites, and back to the boatyard, you are out in the harbour and coral reefs for about 4 hours. there are many other trips, such as swimming with dolphins, a tour through the jungle, or dinner on board a pirate ship with a battle between the two ships. for those of you who havent been before, mexico reallty is boiling at july time of year. if you are planning to go to mexico check with you gp for immunisations, i was supposed to have 4 or 5 but didnt ask before...luckily i have been ok. A visa is needed but it is more like an entry card, you fill it in on the plane just before you get off, and is just a record of who is coming in. there is a charge of $42 to leave. the currency is the mexican Peso, there is about 17 to the pound (subject to change of course... Seven Days in Heaven
Review of General: Mexico by  hlmccarron

Advantages: Quite close to Paradise
Disadvantages: You could be unlucky enough to experience a hurricane

...Rather unwillingly I have just returned from Mexico, where I had one of the best holidays I've ever had. Feeling the effect of Post Holiday Blues, I thought I'd re-live my holiday by writing about it. Two of my friends and I booked to go to Mexico only 3 weeks prior to our departure date. We got a fantastic deal through Thomson's and paid £450 per person for 7 nights in a 5 star all-inclusive resort in Riviera Maya. We flew from Manchester to Cancun on the 23rd of June. I'm not a huge fan of flying, but if I feel it's going to be worth it I can just about put myself through the torture. The flight was just under 10 hours (in Mexico they are 6 hours behind Greenwich meantime). By the time we arrived in Cancun I was a little exhausted and in all honesty I was rather unimpressed with Cancun. The only way I can really describe Cancun... Read review

Once Upon A Time.....
Review of Once Upon A Time In Mexico DVD by  woof45

Advantages: Fantastic finale to a revitalising western trilogy
Disadvantages: Some areas a bit patchy and slow paced

...Once upon a time in Mexico 2003 Directed by Robert Rodriguez The finale to a trilogy of the El Mariachi films. Antonio Bandera plays a western style bad but good guy who had fallen in love with Carolina (Salma Hayek), battling with Johnny Depp (Sands) who once again plays a bit of an odd ball character with three arms and crazy battles that take out his eyes along with an obsession for a pork meal served. El Mariachi is offered a chance to seek vengeance for the death of his wife and daughter but after giving up his gun wielding trade he chooses to accept the opportunity which leads him on the trail of Agent Sands (Johnny Depp). Drug lord Barillo (Willem Dafoe) complicates matters and bullets soon start to shower the show. El Mariachi's vengeance is fed and the legend comes to a close after lots of bullet, guitar playing and a great... Read review
