A very mixed kettle
Review of Millets (Shop) by
leddy
Advantages: Budget kit always in stock
Disadvantages: No high end gear - special orders cost £5 postage....
...Millets....Good old millets, a familiar high street camping chain was taken over by blacks which became the OutdoorGroup Recently.
Their range of stock is based mainly on their own inhouse brands such as eurohike, Peter Storm and ALS.
Now you may have seen these before..... in a Blacks store as both are part of the same group. Peter Storm clothing is generally of reasonable quality, provided your doing nothing more than path walking it will serve you well. Go up and do some serious hillwalking and you can forget it - it is not designed for it. Jackets lack wired hoods, a crucial feature. Peter storm footwear is also something of a mixed blessing, they've managed to produce a range that goes from reasonable to abissmal as in general the footware is very high volume, heavy and lacks cushioning.
For loads above 8-10Kgs eurohike rucksacks...

Flood (could this really happen!)
Review of Flood DVD by
Cassybobo
Advantages: Good storyline, amazing scenes, quality acting
Disadvantages: none
...I purchased this Dvd fromTesco for £11.99 . Having watched the Dvd The day After Tomorrow and enjoyed it, I had high hopes for this Disaster Movie, and I wasn't dissappointed.
Flood is an excellent Film based on some real facts such as the great flood in the 50's and the storms of the 80's.
It has a special features - interview with the cast and crew, Robert Carlisle, Jessalyn Gilsig, Tom Courtney, David Suchet, Tony Mitchell, Justin Bodie and Peter McAleese and is made by Lionsgate with a running time of 107 minutes approx.
It has been given a 12 rating with a cautionary - Contains moderate injury and sustained threat.
When a raging storm coincides with high tides, it causes a massive tidal surge which hits Scotland's east coast and is closely monitored by the met office in London,
Cobra (goverment emergency cabinet...

a true test
Review of Leicester City by
rtl198
Advantages: good team spirit
Disadvantages: loss of o'neill
...now leicester face the hardest test of all. they have to see if they can continue to perform the miracles of past seasons now that the messiah has gone north to the land of the haggis and the hooped jerseys. o'neill was undoubtedly a galvanising force at filbert street, eliciting the best from his players, making them play out of their skins when they had to. can peter taylor do the same? he is certainly a quality manager, as followers of the england under 21s and gillingham will testify, but is he in the same class as o'neill? only time will tell. and how long before the top names jump ship, not longer bound by o'neill to leicester. the likes of lennon, collymore, elliot and flowers could earn their pay packets at clubs of higher stature, and of higher budgets. this season is an important one, time for steadying the ship throguh...

It'll Knock Your Slippers Off
Review of Spider-Man (Superbit) by
Nathan_Innit
Advantages: Brilliantly done from actors to story
Disadvantages: Maybe a little too perfect for some
...Spiderman, spiderman, does whatever a spider can. This is the first chapter of that Spiderman on the big screen, after being a hugely successful television show and comic book. If you had any slight interest in what was going on in Hollywood in 2002 you WILL have heard of the storm this film caused, with all the children complaining of the 12 certificate so in the UK they made this the first ever 'PG12' film, meaning if you were with your parents but under 12 you could go see it. Was it worth all the fuss? Let me tell you.
Tobey Maguire takes on the huge task of bringing the idolized character to life as he plays Peter Parker. To be beat out all the competition from Jason Biggs to much smaller/bigger actors he must have been doing something right, and when you first see Tobey on screen playing Peter you can see that it fits instantly...

Pushed to the Limit
Review of Vertical Limit DVD by
Willow_Wiccan
Advantages: It has some great special effects
Disadvantages: It is a bit to predictable
.... Peter and Annie talk and she explains climbing makes her feel closer to her Dad and that she wishes Peter hadn't cut her Dad loose. He says he thinks he made the right choice and he would rather Annie didn't climb but shows his support for her. Annie is climbing with eight other people and the head guy is Elliot Vaughn, an arrogant, stupid guy who won't listen to his instructor, Tom McLaren or the crazed loony who says there's a storm coming in.
Annie and the others set off up the mountain, Peter finds out that a storm is coming which could threaten everyone’s life. He radios Tom and he tells Vaughn to turn back, Vaughn ignores him and they carry on. About 1/2 and hour later the storm flares up a bit more causing an avalanche. Everyone dies except Vaughn, Annie and Tom. They get trapped on a ledge in a small cavern. Luckily Peter and Annie...

Don't Mess around at Himalaya's
Review of Vertical Limit DVD by
asyis
Advantages: Fantastic Stunts, Good Photography
Disadvantages: None
...) and the daughter Ann(Robin Tunney) are shown climbing a rock (Similar to some extent like MI-2) and the tragic has to happen and the father looses his life to save his children.
(Again, I am saying don’t miss the opening sequence)
Then the scene turns to the Himalayas (the Pakistan section) where a group of climbers including Peter’s sister Ann is going to climb K2 along with the wealthy adventurer Elliot Vaughn (Bill Paxton). During this daring effort the climbers are stuck up in a storm and are stranded at a very high altitude. (Check the storm sequence, it shows how deadly it can be). So now, Ann is lost in the white peak, who’s going to save the sister.. Obviously Peter.
So Peter arranges a team, which comprises of Montgomery Wick (Scott Glenn), a wild-haired abominable snowman that spends his time alone on K2 looking for his...

Do not snow board here
Review of Vertical Limit DVD by
wemstalker
Advantages: Highly enjoyable
Disadvantages: none really
...The chase is on, in this high-adrenaline yarn. Chris O'Donnell plays young climber Peter Garrett, who must scale the massive heights of K2 (the world's second highest mountain!) in order to save his Sister, of course it’s never that simple, in this movie he must do it against the clock!
That is the basic plot, there is obviously more to it than that, and I’ll let some of the cats out of the bag (But not all!) as this opinion rolls merrily forward. So here goes the movie kicks off with Peter and Annie Garrett, (Robin Tunney) climbing a mountain with their father, then tragedy strikes, (I won’t spoil it, but you can probably guess.) Anyway the movie travels forward to a time when American millionaire Elliot Vaughn (Bill Paxton) plans an assault on K2; of course he is to be accompanied by Peter’s sister, Annie...

One of the best
Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling by
Overlord_2
Advantages: Exciting and anyone, any age can read them.
Disadvantages: Some Christians believe that a story about wizards means they worship satan although there is no reference to satan in any of the books.
...Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban to me, is one of the best books in the Harry Potter series. The Prisoner of Azkaban is the third exciting book from the Harry Potter world, which is just as exciting, and J. K. Rowling never seems to run out of ideas. There’s no doubt about it, Harry Potter has taken the world by storm and this third book in the series is not to be missed.
It’s in this book that you here more of what wizards get up to which only makes the wizarding world more realistic. That’s what I like about J.K. Rowling, she always manages to make it all sound believable. You hear more about Harry’s parents, Lily and James Potter who were murdered by a powerful dark wizard, Lord Voldemort just after Harry was born. Lord Voldemort was very powerful and even in the present, wizards fear to speak his name...
