Review of Philips FW-730C by
mjc
Advantages: Bass, Ease of Use
Disadvantages: Lacks Features
...The Philips FW730C hi-fi incorporates a 3 disc CD changer, double cassette, FM Tuner and AV/DVD setting. Sound is very good especially the three level bass and 'incredible surround' settings. There are also rock/classic/jazz/techno and optimal sound settings. Switch on all 3 bass levels and rock and you've got some bass! It is relatively easy to use, with all the functions controlled by a 'magic menu'. The FM tuner has a RDS feature, letting you know what you are listening to and what type of programme it is, complete with scrolling text messages. The 3-disc CD changer is easy to access with a 'direct play' feature. Dubbing onto cassette is made easy thanks to the magic menu. Function-wise the Philips is lacking. It could do with more features to play around with, but picking it up for £190 I could not complain (wholesale price...

Get Into the Groove with WooX
Review of Philips FW-C 83 by
anjib
Advantages: easy to use, nice looking
Disadvantages: none
...We have just purchased the Philips FW-C83 Mini Hi Fi system from Curry's for £199.99. This is a very non-technical review, so techies - please don't laugh!!!!
We have found it brilliant. It has w00x speakers, which (in non technical terms) brings all the little thumping and thudding noises out to the fron and really adds to the sound.
It has a 3 CD changer, auxillary so we can connect it to the TV and the sound comes out of the speakers to make it sound better, all sorts of sound options (Virtual Environment Controls), Jazz, Cinema, Disco, Hall, Concert, Arcade etc.
40 preset radio channels has RDS so you can get any news or traffic announcements. Has various clocks and timers, and can be connected to CD writer, DVD player, laser disc etc.
Has a nice chrome finish and the buttons are not as chunky than on some systems we looked at...

A Very Good Buy. Honestly!
Review of Philips FW-C355 / CD Mini System by
shahid_18
Advantages: Very Good sound, Good Styling, Very good build quality
Disadvantages: Costs ( £119.98 ) but should not pose a problem, Treble is not very transparent & crisp
...Hi im shahid & am new to ciao. This is my very first review & im writing it with the confidence that the seniors will support & help me & i have taken writing cues from some of the seniors.
This Music System was bought by my father around a year ago. And its looks are amazing & that you can see in the picture above. I was very happy when my father bought it because we really needed a music system to bring some joy to the kids in my family & thats what it has done.
Please have a look at the detailed review below.
SOUND QUALITY : -
I really like the sound the Philips C355 produces. The bass really caught my heart during the background score of Terminator 2 VCD. It really packs the punch in the bass & i assure you it will rattle all the glass ware in your house at high volumes. The mids anyway are full bodied & have a deep response...

The best picture
Review of Philips 36'' by
MARKSY
Advantages: Value for money, best picture
Disadvantages: not the best looking
...The 36" Philips Flat screen TV is in in my opinion the best in the range.
I stood in Selfridges and John Lewis for about 2 hours trying to decide which 36 inch had the best picture. The Hitachi was awful, the new Sony was also poor and far too expensive at about £2,500. It came down to the Philips and the Panasonic. The Panasonic looks better, but the Philips is cheaper, and has a clearer and brighter picture.
The on screen displays are great, the remote control is not amazing, but it does the job. Definitely the best value for money....

Philips Go Gear 1GB Audio/Video Player
Review of Philips GoGear SA5115 1 GB by
ICE-COLD
Advantages: Easy To Use Menu, High Video Quality
Disadvantages: None
...Philips Go Gear 1GB Audio/Video Player
The Philips Go Gear Audio/Video player is a great product with many features. Transferring music to your Philips Go Gear is so simple. First you have to install windows media player on your computer. Now you've installed windows media player you can transfer all of your favourite songs to your Philips Go Gear. As well as transferring music you can also transfer videos to your Go Gear. The video quality is excellent and probably the best feature about this Product. The Go Gear player its self is very light and easy to use. The looks and feel of this Go Gear are also excellent. The design of a product is always very important and this Go Gear looks smashing. The Go Gear is very durable and practically unbreakable. You can also store photos on the Go Gear which is always handy. There is not much you...

Review of Philips DVD850AT by
mringsell
Advantages: Slimline, great design
Disadvantages: None
...The philips 850 AT is by far the best DVD player i have seen. I have viewed films through other DVD'S and this has the best picture and sound quality. It comes with very easy to use instructions and these also guide you through the easy steps of installation. The remote control is very easy to use and this also described in the instructions. It is a great design one of the best i have seen from philips, it is slimline so fits into any space above your T.V set.Overall i would give the philips 850 AT 9 out of 10....

Philips C12 isn't that bad!
Review of Philips Savvy C12 by
Agewills
Advantages: It's easy to use
Disadvantages: It could have come in different colours
...Most people I know think that the Philips C12 is not a very good phone as it doesn't have any games or special ring tones and that you can't change the covers on it. I own a Philips C12 and i am very pleased with it. It has ok ring tones and is small and light weight. Ok so it doesn' have 'snakes' on it but i find it a very easy to use phone. you can also send text messages with icons on it too so who says it isn't trendy! Overall i think that it is a great phone that is easy to use and not too tarty....

not strictly philips
Review of Philips by
jonlell
Advantages: loud, high fidelity, speaker system
Disadvantages: nonce
...the speakers i refer to are the microsoft digital sound system 80, which are actually made by philips and use technology liscenced from philips (WooX). these 2 satelite speakers and sub are outstanding. i also own some cambridge soundworks speakers and sub and although they are alos excellent, the microsoft system beats them hands down. the quality of sound through the usb sound card is crystal clear and the sub kicks out a real boom. the quality of bass at high volume levels is also excellent with little or no distortion. the software included consists of an equaliser which allows you to tweak sound levels to your hearts content as well as having a number of preset settings....

Powerful, functional and effective.
Review of Philips FW-C355 / CD Mini System by
mi2004
Advantages: Good funtionality, quality and sound.
Disadvantages: Daunting controls for some, quite expensive
...Features: 2x Cassette deck, 3x CD, Radio, Aux support.
I’ve been using the Phillips C355 Mini Hi - Fi system for about a year now. It is a very effective and efficient system with lots of functionality. It was quite a significant upgrade from my long running previous player, and I don’t know how I’d cope without it now. I’m quite into my music, I’m always listening to Cds or the radio and this system suits my needs very well.
This neat mini Hi-Fi system boasts a wide range of functions and is attractively designed. The body of the system is made up of black, silver and orange highlights. It features a ‘digital sound display’ to the left of the screen which lights up in orange to show the chosen sound preset (Optimal, Jazz, Rock, Techno). The screen itself is fairly small but displays a lot of information in a compact and well designed...
