top piece of kit
Review of Logitech Quickcam VC by
console
Advantages: price
Disadvantages: Greyscale
...A good, cheap camera, the pioneer of the market. However, the drivers under NT4 are unacceptably slow and hog much memory. It also looks like Logitech/Connectix/whoever has given up on updating the drivers, so unless you can find one for £20 or so used, just get a QC Pro or such.
It's also great that the included software allows you to use the device to take still photos and jpeg movies, but the drawback is that it can quickly eat up a harddrive.
The drivers included in the box did not work on my pc, but downloading the latest ones from their website fixed that problem...

Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite - The User's Review
Review of Microsoft Xbox 360 by
Coops2404
Advantages: Brilliant graphics, HDMI Output, Excellent Games Library, Xbox Live
Disadvantages: Expensive Games, Xbox Live Fee, Lack of Blu-Ray, Hardware Errors
...After hearing how good Microsoft's next-gen gaming console was, I decided to invest. And what a good choice that was. I purchased an Xbox 360 Elite last year and how glad I am that I did.
Pro's:
- Powerful graphic engine
- Brilliant display at 1080p Full-HD (HDMI)
- Brilliant line-up of games
- Excellent online (Xbox Live) system
Con's:
- Games pricey at £40-50 each*
- Xbox Live Subscription at £40 per year**
- Lack of a Blu-Ray drive unlike its competitor, Sony PlayStation 3***
- Prone to crashes and hardware errors****
*New games are hard to find at prices lower than £40, which is a lot of money on top of what you pay for the console itself
**Xbox Live is a very good service offering a full friends messaging system and a wide range of services such as Game Demo's and Arcade games but considering the Nintendo Wii's and Sony...

Pioneer CDJ-1000MK3 Review
Review of Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3 CD/MP3 Player by
benaldo3333
Advantages: Greater functionality and ease of use
Disadvantages: Price
...This review is based on my experiences of using this product. It is not an in-depth look at its specification. This is a general review on the CDJ-1000MK3, and a comparison with the MK2.
First, a little about my use of the product. I have been djing for over four years now, and started off on a pair of Numark turntables playing vinyl. As the times changed in line with the digital revolution, I, as well as other aspiring dj's, needed to start playing with digital equipment playing cd's. I have never owned a CDJ-1000 but have had extensive use of them in clubs and round at my friends house.
Pro's
Well where can I start? Firstly I would like to make it clear that the MK3's are the industry standard throught the club scene - any decent club night will have at least two of these installed. This is due to many things. The sound quality...

Review of Pioneer DCS 313 by
jedi_kickass
Advantages: Slim Aesthetics, 450 W RMS Power Output, Excellent Treble & Mids, Robust Build, The interface capability - SCART, Phono, S-Video and digital. Quite inexpensive at £232.00
Disadvantages: Bass slightly Honky, The blue light in the unit hits out at the eye in dark environments, which is quite irritating while watching movies.
...What would you do if you won £10,000??? Buy a Pioneer DCS-313 I suppose. But that was what one Mr. Kepler Wolfgang in my neighbourhood did. So I fixed up an appointment with him to have a glance at his new Pioneer DCS-313, though he was hesitant at first due to a slight insecure thought when I just barged into his home & introduced myself ( I am this kind of a guy ). But he had coupled the Pioneer DCS-313 with a pair of Bose jewel cubes, which I am not including in the apparatus I am reviewing. So go get a bag of popcorn so that you can go through this detailed review.
***SOUND QUALITY♫♫♫. [4/5]***
The only thing that the Pioneer DCS-313’s Sound could not do was shattering my bones. The Test CD brought about some amazing results...

Pioneer VSX D812 - Its like the pictures!
Review of Pioneer VSX-D812 A/V Receiver by
anthmack
Advantages: Fantastic sound Quality, affordable (without losing manufacturer quality), Very easy to use, can handle several speakers without the need for adding additional amps, Plenty of inputs and outputs (ideal if you want to hook it up to the stereo and tv)
Disadvantages: None. My parents have bought the system, and have a technological knowledge of zero, therefore they find the use of the remote control a little confusing, but after set-up and a good read of the manual, its relatively easy to get to grips with
...- Initial Note -
My parents recently travelled to the States, and was expecting a gift when they got home, but have instead bought the Pioneer Reciever.
They had been talking about getting a good surround system, as they watch the television quite a lot (too much), and generally listen to a lot of music when entertaining. I must say they have got a brilliant buy, and at an affordable price. (Prices are generally a lot cheaper if you buy in the states, and therefore got a bargain at only US $349, which at todays exchange rate is £188, which may I say is a lot cheaper than at home)
However, even at the UK prices I think this system is well worth a try. The sound quality is so precise, strong and clear. When you have it turned up to the hilt, the bass system doesnt crackle or fade, and generally seems to respond effectively to excessive...

Pioneer DCS 525
Review of Pioneer DCS525 by
tgrigg
Advantages: Rear wireless speaker, Great Sound and Picture
Disadvantages: None
...The Pioneer DCS 525 comprises of a DVD player, subwoofer and 4 speakers packaged together. I bought this system from Internet for the very reasonable price of £350
The heart of the system is a DVD player, tuner, alarm clock and 100 watt subwoofer combined together in a compact and slim design.
To give the home cinema effect, four speakers are provided. These comprise of a sub-woofer and four satellite speakers. These speakers seem pretty robust and have 100 watt output each. You can also tell the system far away you sit from the speakers so it can better your sound.
Features
The DVD player will handle playback of the the following formats: CD, DVD, DVD-R DVD-RW, CD-R, VCD, SVCD, MP3 and JPEG.
You are given a choice of Dolby Pro Logic Surround / Dolby Pro Logic Surround II / Dolby Digital / DTS Digital Surround sound options...

Pioneer strikes DVD gold with the DV-626D
Review of Pioneer DV-626D by
jpthomson
Advantages: Mindblowing sound, Explosive picture and feature packed - at a great price. Buy it.
Disadvantages: Nothing significant at this price
...set up you can have sound coming from all around you, just like in a cinema. To do this you need a DECODER, to turn the data on the disc into audio and an amplifier, to give the sound volume. You can buy Dolby Digital decoders/amps for £300 and much more, but if you have an old Dolby Pro logic box (the kind that decode TV surround sound) you can use the decoders built into the Pioneer 626 and so you needn't upgrade. The amplifier does have to have 5.1 channel inputs though. Unlike many players (including Sony's competitor the 725) the pioneer decodes DTS as well as Dolby Digital. DTS is DD's competitor and to my ears sounds a little richer and more refined, but is not very widely used on Region 2 DVDs.Although DVD purists may cringe at the idea of using built in decoders, to most peoples ears, they sound great and the Pioneer...

Xone:32 Review
Review of Allen & Heath Xone 32 Mixer by
benaldo3333
Advantages: Sound quality, build
Disadvantages: Channel gains on the back of the unit, only 3 channels
...This review is based on my experiences with the Xone:32. It is not an in depth look at its specification as this is readily available from the Allen & heath website.
I bought this mixer about a year or so ago and it has been a faithful companion to me since It arrived on my doorstep. I bought it for £427 from djstore.com. This review is a comparison between the major sub-£500 mixers available on the market.
Pro's
The reputation that this mixer has gained throughout the dj world is a story in itself and it was this which drew me to it in the first place. Allen & Heath have a reputation of building the best mixers in the world - this is certainly the case after trying it out. Firstly, you will be hard pushed to find a mixer which sounds better than any of the Xone series. The sound is unbelievable even through budget speakers - you...

Reliable Memory product
Review of Kingston HI Speed Elite PRO Compact Flash 4096 MB by
yassarikhan786
Advantages: Fast write speed, Reliable (estimated to last over 100 years)
Disadvantages: none
...memory cards will function on all Operating systems, including the more popular Microsoft and Apple systems. If you have a different operating system to Microsoft or Apple, then there is no need to worry as it will function on virtually all OS (Operating systems) released shortly before and after the release of Compact Flash Cards.
The X-speed on this Compact flash card as well as on all Kingston flash cards determines the writing speed of the card. The writing speed is simply the time taken for a file or files to be copied onto the memory card. The write speed determines the overall performance of the compact flash card. So the higher the write or X-speed the better the performance of the memory card. The X-speed for the Kingston HI Speed Elite PRO Compact Flash 4096 MB card is 133x. One x-speed is equivalent to 150 kb's of data transfer...
