...Today my opinion is about Mars. We call it the red planet and perhaps years later earthlings will live on it. But how? Scientists have a solution how they make Mars into Earth. Astronauts will fly to Mars for search forms of live on the planet. All they discover about the planet they have to write down. They will live in huge shelters because it's too cold there. In this time on Mars is nothing edible so astronauts have to take food from home. Forty years later the main task will be to warm the planet. Astronauts will bring huge mirrors from Earth to Mars which they place in orbit to direct the sunlight on the red planet. But that isn't all they have to do. ...Having spent four years clubbing at Planet Earth I was shocked to see that it had closed its doors last year. I used to be at University in Leeds and graduated last year. Having then returned last weekend on a trip to visit the old haunts I was gutted to see such a good club close down. For those who don't know, the best thing about Planet Earth was the revolving dance floor - class act!! until all of you get on it and try revolving it the wrong way so it breaks. The venue was popular with all students as it used to do 70 and 80 nights and extremely cheap drinks so cheap that sometimes you could get drunk...no extremely drunk on a fiver - I know Leeds is generally good a keeping prices to a good level but this place was very very cheap. The music was class and the staff good at their jobs - I do hope that they bring it back... Read review

...Considered to be one of Hollywood's classic sci-fi films, This Island Earth is a thought provoking little film with a timeless atmosphere. The story involves Dr Cal Meacham becoming intrigued by a mysterious company that is sending him equipment way in advance of anything available. Meacham is finally recruited by Exeter, a strange industrialist who has gathered the world's foremost experts in nuclear energy in an attempt to create limitless free energy. As the story unfolds, it transpires that Exeter is in fact an emmisary from the planet Metaluna who has come to Earth in an attempt to find an energy source capable of saving his home planet which is at war with the the planet Zygon. Meacham and his female colleague Dr Ruth Adams are taken to Metaluna but arrive too late, escaping just before the planet is totally destroyed... Ok... Read review

...This cartoon movie stars a few celebrity, Matt Damon, Bill Pullman and Drew Barrymore. You should be able to guess whose voice by watching this movie. AE represents After Earth. It tells a story about how the Earth was destroyed by aliens and how this guy, Cale went to search for his father's spaceship Titan which is believed to be humanity last chance to bring them back from extinction. Most interesting scenes in the movie includes the destruction of Earth, the scenes in the hydrogen plants planet and the final scenes in the icy planet. Another should watch cartoon which has similarity to Japanese cartoon and Star Wars.... Read review

...Nothing can really beat the original series of Star Trek despite it’s creaky set’s and not too convincing aliens. This 1979 film was the first time Star Trek crossed over to the big screen and big budget. The crew were probably about 10 years older since they’d last been seen on the Enterprise but they were still believable. The plot revolves around an alien spacecraft that is heading towards earth intent on destruction after earth’s non-response to it’s friendly signals. The Enterprise crew are called upon to intercept it and they eventually find it to be the earth space craft Voyager that was sent into space to collect information and, on completion, return. As usual Kirk and the crew save the planet and live to fight another day (in the sequel’s that followed for years to come).... Read review

...The film set the whole thing off and when a series was announced I looked forward to a new weekly fix of sci fi. Although the actors changed the series was as good as the film and quite often better. The concept of a gateway to the stars was nothing new but linking it to Egyptian ancient culture satisfied those who believe that ancient Egypt is somehow related to starmen. As long as writers come up with new story lines this series can go on for years but wouldn't it be nice if once in a while the SG1 team got to a world that wasn't some medieval version of earth? Isn't it plausible that they should come across a distant planet with streets and house and cars and things? Earth cannot be the only planet to have invented the aeroplane. That apart the series gets my vote and I look forward to viewing many more episodes.... Read review

...Val Kilmer, Carrie-Anne Moss and Tom Sizemore star in this sci-fi drama about a team of scientists flying to the Red Planet (thats Mars to you and me!!). The story is set in the future when man is destoying the earth and colonisation of Mars is the only hope. They have been sending probes to Mars for years. The probes are filled with algae which they hope will create an atmosphere on the planet. When the oxygen levels suddenly drop our intrepid scientists are sent to Mars to investigate. Having spent 6 months getting there, they have problems at the last minute and are forced to abandon the mother-ship and crash land in the landing pod. The story then follows them as they discover the planet now does have an atmosphere ... but something has destroyed the living pod they were going to use.
