British Airways American Express
Review of British Airways American Express by
caro1717
Advantages: Get BA Miles fast
Disadvantages: Must be a BA frequent flyer. Have Tesco card as back-up
...There have been several reviews of BA Amex cards which all give good, detailed information about the card. However none of them give the full picture.
I won't go into stuff already reviewed, but simply add a few points.
The BA Amex card has three tiers: Credit Card, Premium Card and Premium Plus Card.
I can't think why anyone would apply for the basic Credit Card, This is the card that is 'free' in the first year, but has penalties for underspend after that. The Premium and Premium Plus cards ask you to pay a subscription yearly, so you pay upfront (if you have to pay) and that is that.
Tthese cards are all about accumulating BA miles and it is on the Premium Plus card that this really happens. The Premium Plus card does cost £120 a year (if you have to pay for it), however in terms of accumulating BA miles it more than pays...

The best clumping litter, if you can find it
Review of Premium Choice Clumping Litter by
rklair
Advantages: lasts ages & forms firm clumps
Disadvantages: Very hard to find
...I have one big problem with Premium Choice Clumping Litter - I can never find it! It's a real shame, because it is the best litter I have ever used.
I have four cats and always use clumping litter, Premium choice whenever possible. The clumps it forms are firm and don't fall apart on removal. This means a far superior odour control, something very important in a multi cat household.
Premium Choice is rather more expensive than market competitors but in my experience it doesn't seem to run out as fast. Also, it does track around the house but has that in common with all superfine litters. The grains tend to get carried around the house by the numerous sets of furry feet, thereafter to become stuck to bare human feet and carried into bed, bath, everywhere in fact. That's a factor that has to be weighed against the economy plus...

For that price I would expect a diamond!
Review of Diamond by
blueflo_1705
Advantages: Good customer service
Disadvantages: Very expensive for young/new drivers
...Although for some Diamond offer very competitive car insurance, for me that simply was not the case.
I had seen many adverts on the television for Diamond “cheap car insurance just for women” and so they were my first choice for car insurance. However, as a new driver, Diamond quoted me £1,095.29 over 10 months, with the first payment due immediately of £246.37 followed by 8 instalments of £109.24 with a payment holiday in June. Being a new driver, I did expect the premium to be high and accepted this. I also took my Pass Plus and expected that this would bring down my premium somewhat, but they only reduced my premium by £32.19.
I did actually shop around after about six months and found cheaper car insurance elsewhere and cancelled my policy with Diamond, for which they charged me £95.00.
In terms of customer service, however, I...

great idea! informative site
Review of bespokes.co.uk by
primetime
Advantages: inormation
Disadvantages: too tempting!
...As web-sites go this is funcional and informative. The best thing though is the idea behind it all.. I have found my Christmas present early this year.. just gotta find the cash! You can hire classic cars or join the club for £1750 plus £500 to join. for that you qualify for 42 days of driving fun in a variety of classic cars such as a porsche 911, Ferrari, TVR etc etc etc. Some of these vehicles require an extra premium, but unlike a lot of sites the information is all here with the small print so you know what you are letting yourself in for....

Every little does help
Review of Tesco Insurance by
blueflo_1705
Advantages: Low cost, they don't penalise young/new drivers
Disadvantages: None so far
...I passed my driving test in January 2003 and bought my car in the February of that year. I chose a Peugeot 206 (1.1 – small engine) but as I was under 21 at the time, I did not qualify for the year’s free insurance offered with the car and so had to go about finding my own (sigh).
I had seen many adverts on the television for Diamond “cheap car insurance just for women” and as they had a website, I visited to see what they would offer. The premium I was quoted was £1,095.29 over 10 months, with the first payment due immediately of £246.37 followed by 8 instalments of £109.24 with a payment holiday in June. Being a new driver, I expected the premium to be high and thought this was good. I also took my Pass Plus and expected that this would bring down my premium somewhat. I was wrong! They reduced the premium by £32.19!

Small with wide angle
Review of Kodak DC 4800 by
Alexmouse
Advantages: Small, compact with wide angle
Disadvantages: No spare battery
...This is probably the only camera with built in wide angle to 28mm to 84mm, which is great for any estate agents out there, landscape photographers or for taking pictures in tight spaces. All the others you have to add an extra lens to, to create a wide angle.
It's very compact, fast and comes packaged with a great content too. Everything you need:
Kodak's premium pack, Large Bag, Camera, 16MB Compact Flash card plus extra 32MB Compact Flash card, Lithium battery, Recharger and Mains Adapter plus Lens cleaning pen. There might only be one thing missing, which would be my criticism - a spare battery.
To get the best benefit from the camera you should have Windows 98 or above and USB....

Good Deals for mature BIKERS!
Review of Norwich Union Direct by
Sonatine
Advantages: Easy quotes off their website, friendly staff over phone, good rates
Disadvantages: age bias, almost mandatory alarm system, unproven with claims recovery
...In the old days the old creaking giant Norwich Union had a bit of poor reputation with a lot of bikers, mainly due to their rather high premiums and hassles trying to get any money out of them when your bike goes walkies.
These days, now that bikes are fashionable again and selling in relatively large numbers, NU have cottoned on to the fact that they have to be a little more personable to encourage more custom with so much competition flying around.
I joined NU back in 87 at the tender age of 25 tootling along on a 125. Fortunately comprehensive insurance wasn't too bad then because they reckon that when you reach a certain age (25 plus usually) they keep the premiums relatively low.
