A Mixed Bag with some Belters
Review of Controversy - Prince by  BlueAngel

Advantages: Do Me Baby, great love song
Disadvantages: Too many fillers

...Looking back, Controversy really doesn't seem to fit as the album realised before 1999. You really wonder where 1999 came from after this. But why should we be surprised? Prince has been doing this all his career. Controversy is a good album but not one of Prince's best.(In my opinion). Some of the tunes are absolute belters, some are nothing more than funky fillers. The title track is a good one and I still enjpy listening to it today. The sands of time have been fairly kind to this. The track of the album,as far as I'm concerned, is the beautiful kinky love song, 'Do me Baby'. It is a wonderful song to listen to and even better to be romantic too. Prince thumps out a heavy beat and repeats how he wants his baby to do him over and over. It is Prince's equivalent to Madonna's 'Justify my love'. 'Private Joy' is a song about... Read review

Little Purple Man
Review of 1999 - Prince by  loulou6

Advantages: It's Prince
Disadvantages: none what so ever!

...This was the album that shot Prince into the big time and into my heart all because of one of the century's most played songs ~ the excellent '1999', which is still as fresh as the day it was born. This album is truly brilliant and showed the first real signs that Prince was going to become a megastar, the CD goes from the funky 'Delirious' to the sophisticated 'Something In The Water' and of course everybody knows 'Little Red Corvette. 'Lady Cab Driver' is one of his most gorgeous of songs, makes me go all weak at the knees, phew! Prince shows a stunning display of raw talent in this album, not wallowing indulgence which he has been accused of doing. If you're listening to '1999' there is something about the 1980's that pops up every time, really experimental kind of funk and hip-hop. But I reckon all of his songs are equally... Read review

The man with no name
Review of Hits Vol.1, The - Prince by  pinknails

Advantages: Songs for every event and mood.
Disadvantages: All your other CDs will stay on the shelf for quite a while.

...Unfortunately, the publicity given to his name changes seems to have somewhat overshadowed the music. Many dismiss him as the lubricious elf that changed his name to 'squiggle' but the songs, including 'Nothing compares 2u' (a previously unreleased live version featuring Rosie Gaines), '1999', 'Diamonds and Pearls' and 'When Doves Cry' are easy to love. Lasting just over an hour and a quarter in total, 11 or 12 of the 18 tracks are well known and the remaining six are just as timeless. I would recommend this collection to anyone with an appreciation for musical talent. Consistently dazzling.... Read review

The opus!
Review of Sign O' The Times (Original Soundtrack) - Prince by  d_w86

Advantages: Uplifting; thoughful; style-spanning and funky; lyrics printed in full
Disadvantages: The price of the album varies so shop around!

...Quite simply Prince's opus. A double album from the most talented musician of his generation was bound to be good but this exceeded even my expectations! Heavily jazz influenced whilst combining Prince's ability to produce quite avant garde soul and pop/rock numbers. This was ahead of its time. I've always been a Prince fan since the days of the Batman soundtrack when I first took notice and cast the Kylie Minogue albums aside - don't go there! Every Prince album is different from the last so you have to take each one as it comes. I stumbled across Sign O' The Times at a bootsale marked up for £8 and it was still shrinkwrapped. This was an absolute bargain as I've seen it priced up for as much as £19.99 in stores, though recently the price has fallen, like a lot of the Bealtes albums. Shop around, but I believe every penny you spend... Read review

LETS BROADEN OUR MINDS...LAURENCE
Review of Batman: Original Soundtrack (Prince) by  eatingrich

Advantages: lots of good party songs
Disadvantages: there aren't really any obvious ones

...rarely skip it, like i sometimes do with 'arms of orion'. 'scandalous' at first seems like a love ballad but listen to the lyrics and its a rather explicit song about one of princes favourite subjects, sex. this is possibly my favourite song off of the album along with 'vicki waiting'. 'batdance' closes the album and seems like a melding of about three songs prince had left over. however, it still seems coherent enough to be enjoyable, starting out with an uptempo drum beat and synth riff it even samples the old batman theme tune and the whole song is littered with funk riffs from prince. it also samples other songs off the album, such as 'the future' and 'electric chair'. this album can often be bought as part of the 5 for £30 deals retail music stores often have and as its a relatively unknown album (in comparison to say, 1999 and Purple... Before He Went Bonkers
Review of Love Symbol - Prince by  waynehorrigan

Advantages: Great music; inspired writing; kept up with the times nicely
Disadvantages: Couple of stinking ballads - he didn't wanna do that!

...of an eventful album. This could almost be described as a ballad, but there's too much depth and originality going on to label it as balladic dirge. And with the changes in tempo and styles over the ensuing 6 minutes, this could almost be Prince's Bohemian Rhapsody! Mark: 3/5 16. The Sacrifice Of Victor A great way to end the album. Funky, upbeat and with plenty of life. The unsubtle hip hop beats are back and the backing vocalists are earning their salaries big time! This mid paced, James Brown, mid-70's pastiche alone can almost make up for the two awful ballads and fake reggae track of earlier. It Won't Rain On This Parade
Review of Parade - Prince by  waynehorrigan

Advantages: Diverse styles; features "Kiss"
Disadvantages: Slightly too psychadelic in parts

...in French, Prince plays his trump card: a seven minute piano ballad. Admittedly the opening line: "Tracy died just after a long-fought civil war" kind of sets the tone and it's not one for fans of S-Club! But Prince's wobbly vocals on the verses and husky falsetto on the chorus are just brilliant. I hate ballads, but this one, I don't know, I just gets me right here (**points to heart**). Moving. Mark: 5/5 TBM: The ability to make a seven minute ballad go so quickly! Glam Slam, thank you mam!
Review of Lovesexy - Prince by  eatingrich

Advantages: Uplifting songs, tender ballads, brilliant songwriting and numerous other positives!
Disadvantages: Album released as a single track, other than that, pretty perfect!

...it would be a shame if you didn't give it a good chance as it's probably his most underrated album. If you are getting into Prince and are wondering whether to get this album, I'd check out 1999, Purple Rain and Sign O' The Times before this one. But if you're still eager for more after that, chances are he will have had you hooked! The best years of his music are known from about 1979-1988, and this marks the last Prince album, fans and fellow musicians call the best time for Prince. At least he went out on a highnote!... One Throne, Two Thrones!
Review of Prince Of Persia 3: The Two Thrones (PS2) by  Stunt101

Advantages: Responsive controls; lenghty storymode; plenty to unlock; gorgeus visuals; excellent voice acting and music.
Disadvantages: Frame rate takes a beating while playing as Dark Prince; unlocking extras are easy as pie!

...a total of 5 companies. They are set in Paris, Montreal, Milan, Romania and Montpelliar. All of the companies have contributed to at least one of Ubisoft's games. Hopefully Ubisoft will continue to make games in the future and be as good as companies like EA and Eidos. -(History Of Prince Of Persia)- The first Prince Of Persia was released in 1989. It was a 2D side scroller and people loved it. 10 years later in 1999 Red Orb Entertainment released Prince Of Persia 3D. Even though it was 3D it wasn't very successful. Then 4 years later in 2003 Ubisoft released Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time. It was a success. It was a good looking game with responsive controls and good story. This game started The Sands Of Time Trilogy. After spawning 2 more games, the trilogy obviously ended. Lets hope we see more in the future. -(The Story)- The Story... Read review
