Blades are the future...
Review of HP ProLiant BL20p G2 - Xeon 3.06 GHz by
urgetosplurge
Advantages: Compact, lower power requirements
Disadvantages: Learning curve for deployment software
...I work for a national UK company with 6,000 IT users and have specified and used this model of blade server in several projects (including a large Citrix server deployment) and found it extremely good.
Once I overcame the initial learning curve of the Rapid Deployment Pack software, and the network switch configuration, deploying configurations, operating systems and software to these servers was a doddle.
If you haven't used blades before, it's a paradigm shift to set up a server without directly-attached screen, keyboard or mouse, but the Java-based Integrated Lights Out remote management facility more than compensates for this (although there is a slight time lag for mouse movements). The really good thing about this facility is that you don't need an operating system installed to see remotely what's happening on the screen...

Fancy a Pizza Anyone
Review of HP ProLiant DL360 G3 - Xeon 2.8 GHz by
grovej
Advantages: Small and Cheap
Disadvantages: Cabling can be a bit of a nightmare
...company is ideal.
The support website of HP is very good and easy to navigate, that may be because I have been using it for a long time! On the site you can get copies of documentation, firmware, drivers and all the other things you require to support the server. On feature I make good use of is the automated notification for products, you can register your 'e' mail address and HP will send you an alert when there is a new drivers or firmware available for the server
********** Performance*************
The DL360 is one of the low end servers from the DL range, I have deployed lots of these servers as WINS and DHCP server, they have performed exceptionally well and for the size provide compact power. We were going to consider using these for our Citrix deployment, but opted to go for blade servers instead as they provide better management...

Powerful HP Server!
Review of HP ProLiant ML370 G5 Performance - Dual-Core Xeon 5150 2.66 GHz by
andycharger
Advantages: Lots of resource, processor power and expansion
Disadvantages: Price and extras needed.
...Fantastic performance , flawless reliability and reassuringly pricey is a good way to describe one of our Proliant ML370 servers here in the office.
If you need your server to deliver cutting edge technology with bulletproof backup, this is a must for any self respecting IT guy.
The Proliant range from HP has been around for a few years but the latest generation takes advantage of shrinking sized parts and components and power saving methods to evolve an already successful product.
We have both the G5 and G4 models of this server and the main obvious change is the disk size. The hard disks (and it can take up to 8 of them) and the newer slimline serial SCSI type rather than the Ultra SCSI in the G4. Faster and with the same lightning response time, they obviously draw less power resouce from your server and power supply.

HP ProLiant DL380G3
Review of HP ProLiant DL380 G3 - Xeon 3.2 GHz by
mdallen
Advantages: High Density, excellent availabilty
Disadvantages: Default SmartArray5i does not have option to add battery cache
...ProLiant 3000 boxes to these and we've managed to save a fortune in management costs. Remember those times when a server has frozen in a datacentre and you need to phone up and get someone to go in there and reboot it? No longer an issue. iLO takes care of all that providing virtual media, power, etc. Again, I'd highly recommend purchasing the iLO advanced pack. It allows you to view the machine as if you were standing in front of it, in a graphical mode - i.e windows, etc. Without it you can only really see the bios.
All in all an excellent server. They also look really nice when you have loads stacked up. One thing I can recommend is that if you can afford the rack space, do the following:
Server
1U gap
Server
1U gap
etc
Without leaving a gab cabling can become quite difficult to manage at the rear. Also, if you are installing...

Power where required Excellent Managability
Review of HP ProLiant DL740 - Xeon MP 2 GHz by
grovej
Advantages: The managability of Proliants is second to none
Disadvantages: Accountants will try to make you buy cheaper
...I have worked with servers for 6 years now and have never found any manufacturer of servers the comes close to the HP/Compaq Proliant range. What sets Proliants apart from the rest of the field is the managability tools that HP provide.
The DL740 comes from the density optimized line, this means that there are some sacrafices that are made to package the server smaller. DL servers don't typically have many hard disk slots as the low end servers DL360 etc are normally used for infrastructure services and the high end DL580, DL740 for SAN attached functions such as databases, or file servers, they also typically don't have as many PCI slots as the ML range.
********** Specification*************
The DL740 is the top end of the DL range and will accept either 4 or 8 Intel Zeon processors ranging from 2.0GHz to 3.0GHz , the server comes...

Razor
Review of Wilkinsons Sword Precision Razors by
Groovygal2_99
Advantages: You can use cheaper blades
Disadvantages: None
...Wilkinson Sword razor is a very good product. I got it from a free sample in the mail. It has a retractable head, so that when you use it, the blade retracts with you, and it comes in a variety of colours. Also, you don’t have to buy their blades, because their blades are more expensive. You can buy the blades from the Lady Protector’s blades, which is less expensive. And, the blades will fit onto the razor! So, you also save some money. And, it doesn’t irritate your skin if you use it often. I recommend this product, because it’s a good razor, and you save money buying a different product’s razor blades....

MachIII The Fastest there is!!!!
Review of Gillette Mach 3 Razor by
simonrogertaylor
Advantages: Good Quality, Nice feel
Disadvantages: Expensive
...The Mach III is the best razor I have used. OK so it costs a little more than other razors, but none can match its quality. It is of a metal and rubber grip, shaped to fit the hand. It comes with a handy holder that has space on the back for spare blades, and a functional mirror on the front, I found this really usefull when travelling.
The blades seem to hold thier shapness a lot longer than other blades i have used. They cost a little more than other blades but you get what you pay for. The blades are easy to change as well, and come with glide strips to ease the blades over the skin and make sure that the blades stay in constant contact....

Gillette Venus razor
Review of Gillette Venus by
naughtyangel69
Advantages: close shave, blades last well, easy to use, colour choice
Disadvantages: slightly expensive blades
...I have found that many razors are fairly inexpensive, as are the blades, but then the blades dont last long and I end up with cuts and scratches.
A friend suggested buying a Gillette Venus razor, so I thought I'd give it a go. I was a little shocked at the price to begin with, almost £6 for the razor (wi | | |
