Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 Review
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor by
neo1983
Advantages: 4 cores, great performance, future proof
Disadvantages: may require bios update, high power consumption
...Based on the same quad core architecture as Core2 Extreme QX6700 but with lower speed, with 4 cores this processor is really recommended especially for multitasking, multimedia encoding applications, but in generally is good at everything.
The speed. The processor speed depend especially of the aplications used, in some is slower than a dual core processor but in four cores optimized applications this processor rocks.
Ease of installation: A little difficult because of the socket 775, require the main board to be removed from the case, check the cooler to click with all 4 connectors.
Stability: As all Intel processor is great but I recommend using a good 3'rd party cooler
Power consuming. This processor uses 120w max, recommend a 500w power source.
Other:check the main board/bios if support quad processor before installing, you may...

AMD Phenom 9500 / 2.2 GHz processor
Review of AMD Phenom X4 9500 / 2.2 GHz processor by
shivendu
Advantages: quad-core design handles data efficiently; cheaper than competing Intel quad-core chips.
Disadvantages: Expensive
...The good: "True" quad-core design handles data efficiently; cheaper than competing Intel quad-core chips.
The bad: Not fast enough to justify the price savings compared to Intel's chips; next-gen Intel quad-core due out soon could further the performance gap.
The bottom line: AMD's new Phenom quad-core CPU has little to recommend it over competing chips from Intel. The Phenom is marginally less expensive, but not enough to make up for its subpar performance. Unless AMD drops prices more aggressively, it looks like Intel will maintain its grasp on the CPU market for the foreseeable future.
For raw performance, AMD's Athlon 64 X2 chips have lingered behind their Intel Core 2 Duo counterparts all year. Only aggressive pricing from AMD kept its old dual-core CPUs in systems and on store shelves. According to our testing, AMD will have...

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor by
mash123
Advantages: handle multiple tasks at same time and doesnt slow pc.
Disadvantages: potentially waste of money
...the latest processor from intel, the new intel core 2 quad is the most powerful processor available for the average home pc. The 2.4GHz processor is more than enough for everyday tasks on your pc. This is perfect if you do hardcore gaming, video editing etc or both! The four cores allow you to simultaneously do alot of tasks on the pc and it will not slow down your pc. As more and more software for pc's need a lot of processing power, this processor is the most up to date and the most powerful as yet. The downside to getting this would be that as computing power of computers are increasing faster and faster with respect to time, the quad core processor will no doubt be yesterdays news within a few months as intel have plans to release an octa-core processor which will then outdate this one....

Powerful and efficient
Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 / 3 GHz processor by
ClockworkUniverse42
Advantages: Fast, good overclocking potential; the best for games (and virtually all other applications)
Disadvantages: Runs fairly warm, but nothing terrible
...As a gamer, I needed the best processor out there. Searching around, the only real debate in this price range was whether to go for the E6850, a dual core CPU, or the Q6600, a quad core at a lower clock. After looking at many different benchmarks and reviews, the answer was clear - the higher clocked part (the E6850) was a more power processor, giving better performance in games, and better performance in most ofther software applications as well. The message is as clear now as it was then, 6 months ago when I bought this product; current applications do not need 4 cores to run quickly, especially games. If I was particularly interested in video editing, then I may have gone for a quad-core, but for my purposes it wasn't nescessary. Not only that, but I have used video editing software on this, and it will render incredibly quickly - I...

FAST, CHEAP, BANG FOR BUCK!!
Review of AMD Black Edition AMD Phenom X4 9850 / 2.5 GHz processor by
charwai
Advantages: Fastest AMD Processor, easy to overclock, Cheap, Quad Core
Disadvantages: Not the best processor on the market, Runs hot
...Being a AMD fan i felt that Intel was wiping the market with there dual cores and quad cores. AMD was giving me no reason to stick by them. Until they release there new gfx card: HD 4870 (more on that in that review). Wanting to stick by them i saw this claiming to add 'True Quad core technology' i bought this. Probably the fastest processor AMD have. The Black edition lets you unlock the potential of the 'AMD overdrive'. Extremly user friendly any noob can overclock it. In the market its a above average processor only intels quad cores are faster but hey i bought mine for £129 which is good value compared too the intel processors. It does the jobs i need it to do such as run games and multitask at the same time!! It runs a tiny abit hot on intense activity a bigger fan will keep it down. But hey we're all not perfect :)...

Overclocking Paradise the Q6600
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor by
Digital_Friend
Advantages: 4 cores
Disadvantages: none
...Excellent Processor, the usual simple to install and the stock fan does its job well.
Very overclockable and can easily reach speeds of 3.0ghz without having to change the cooler.
The fact this this processor is quad core is fabulous i upgraded from a dual core processor and noticed the difference straight away.
Multi tasking is now a joy not a chore, a certainly if you use any sort of processor intensive applications you would find it a real boon.
My render times in 3dStudio Max and Cinema4D have reduced drastically and enabled me to work much faster and happier.
Gaming of which i do a lot has also noticed some improvements and will only get better as more and more people begin to use the new multicore CPUs.
Also now with the recent announcement from intel that 6 core cpus are just around the corner the price of quad core chips...

...These new processors deliver amazing performance and power efficiency. With four execution cores, the Intel® Core™2 Quad processor blows through processor-intensive tasks in demanding multitasking environments and makes the most of highly threaded applications. Graphics Video works Just SUPER.Keep it cool, and you should be able to do some over clocking. I turned my ASUS auto overclocking off since I really dont need to over clock (& void the warranty).Wide Dynamic Execution,Intelligent Power Capability,Smart Memory Access,Advanced Smart Cache,Advanced Digital Media Boost. This is the best Price/Performance Quad availible.
Personaly I recommended you best processors, good price in market,

Brilliant Buy
Review of Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz processor by
Eazy_Rider
Advantages: Quick, runs cool, easy to overclock
Disadvantages: None
...version, simply because it is far better at overclocking and you will be able to get greater speeds with the CPU being stable. Straight out of the box the CPU runs cooler than I expected anyway, which makes it able to reach clocks up to about 3.4GHz, which is very impressive.
