...My overall review of the Dole Fruit Parfait is pretty good. They are hand little desserts for packed lunches and picnics or even just a quick snack between meals, but they are a bit pricey especially when the kids love them so much!! They would eat 4 or 5 a day if I let them!! It is a really good way to get some fruit into them. I find the packaging is quite good and eyecatching so it does make you stop and look at them on the shelf. I would probably recommend them to others because they are a bit different from the everyday desserts that you can buy and they are pretty healthy but I would warn them about the price first though. As I flipped through I stumbled upon this great recipe; Coconut Crusted Apple Dessert and thought it would be great to try because it looked simple, quick and easy to make! However, if they appeal to you, then I can strongly suggest that you give these cheap desserts a try! ...Sometimes when we have had a rather large meal, a pudding such as apple pie or crumble seems just a little too much, so we searched for something just a little different and quick. Along the dairy shelves at my local ASDA was a very pretty array of dairy and non dairy sweets, Muller Light and the like. There right at the end in a rather unassuming package were 4 Crème caramels. Yummy thought I haven't had one of those for a while. I picked up the package to discover it was ASDA's own make, the little plastic pots were translucent whilst the covers were very basic with just enough essential info on them for me to make a decision………………who am I kidding the decision had already been made I was having them. ...Mmmmmmm. Just thinking about this wonderful product is making my mouth water. If you haven't ever tried a rolo dessert then get out there quick and buy one. They're gorgeous. Okay, so I guess I should tell you what they are and why they are so yummy. I'm sure you all know what Rolos are - well these are the dessert form. They are sold in tubs of either 2 (for around 89p) or 4 (currently on offer at just 99p - bargain). That may seem quite a lot, but compared to other similar products, such as Cadburys flake or crunchie desserts, then it's cheap. And they are well worth it too! Each dessert consists of a thick layer of caramel/toffee flavoured gooey stuff on top of which is a really delicious layer of chocolatey stuff. ...This product is a novel idea that takes a well loved chocolate bar a step further. The ice cream has a distinctive chocolate flavour with the addition of sweet caramel. It has a light fluffy texture with a smooth mouthfeel. Its great for kids as well as young at heart consumers with a sweet tooth. Mars have packaged it well as the product stands out from most of the other ice creams currently on the market. Many other chocolate bar manufacturers have also picked up on the idea of creating an ice cream version for example Nestle Smarties and Cadburys Crunchie. I purchased it on impulse as a quick after dinner dessert. I was certainly not disappointed in the product and would definately recommend it to others. ...so i picked it up for a closer look. With one read of the description of the dessert, i knew i must have it and i quickly hurried off to find the trolley. Tea time came and went and it was dessert time. Th family was having victoria sponge cake, but when i was offered a slice i declined much to my familys surprise, but oh no i wasnt passing up the chance of pudding, i had something else on my mind..The chocolate dessert sitting there patiently waiting on me in the fridge. I took it out the fridge and read the lable one last time. ...Angel Delight has got to be one of my all time favourite desserts. It is so light and tasty that you are left wanting more. So lets have a look at it.... Firstly, its an instant dessert. That means it comes from the shops in a packet and with minimal effort from you and a little dash of milk, its ready to eat. How to prepare it.... You empty the contents of the packet into a mixing bowl and add the correct amount of milk to the powder. Give it a quick whisk up until it starts to thicken and pour it into serving bowls to harden. Flavours... Originally, it came just in Strawberry flavour but today you can buy it in Strawberry, Chocolate, Banana, Butterscotch and Toffee flavour too. Serving ideas....
