Is Rock and Roll Dead
Review of Strikes Like Lightning - Hellacopters by
Champ666
Advantages: ---------------------------
Disadvantages: ---------------------------
...Visiting The Hellacopters website today all you see is the statement Rock and Roll is Dead; no further information is given just that. Checking Kerrang.com provides a similar blank response NME.com does exactly the same thing then visiting their record company website cargo records it is similarly enigmatic with the message :-
Things to Do must build website due 11/2004
Very bloody enigmatic if you ask me but certainly intriguing, either that or just good olde fashioned underground laziness.......
Anyway this six track ep was released at the tail end of 2004 and features The Hellacopters in typical great high octane rock and roll form. Who cares if it sounds surprisingly similar to the last album this is rock and roll and it is supposed to sound like this. The two guitar parts riff against each other, solos soar and dive around your...

little plastic men plastic idea
Review of Army Men 3D (PSX) by
yadimier
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...Anyone who sat wide-eyed and enchanted through the opening scenes of the marvellous Toy Story will find themselves intrigued by Army Men 3-D. Remember the 'Bucket O Soldiers' toy pieces who went on a vital reconnaissance mission? The more dated readers may remember the actual figures - single colour, cheaply moulded plastic GI troops, set in rigid positions each with their own plinth on which to stand.
Army Men sees these soldiers come to life in a battle between the tan-coloured army and the green-coloured army, kind of like Small Soldiers in World War 2! As Sarge, it is up to you to fight for the greens to the best of your ability, using tactical cunning and an impressive range of weapons.
The made-of-plastic angle is exploited from the very beginning - heave a grenade at the feet of a tan troop and he'll blow into molten chunks...

GOOD FOR THE PRICE
Review of Sennheiser HD457 by
another_opinion
Advantages: Clear lively sound, lightweight, comfortable.
Disadvantages: Bad for deep bassy tracks.
...I have owned these headphones for nearly 5 years now. They have had some repairs under the soldering iron but in general i am happy with the performance that the 457's have given.
SOUND
I think the sound quality is good for the price. Clear mid-range with adequate high range. They do not deliver full and rounded bass, they are happier delivering lean punchy bass. For Rock and Pop they work very well. Excellent for Electronica, Dance & Funk music with a lively bass guitar on Funk tracks. They work well with Jazz too. However, for R&B, Reggae - genres renown for deep base - they are not perfect. You will not hear some of the music unfortunately. I only know this because i have a high-end pair (Sennheiser HD555's) with a wider frequency range that pick up on more of the low frequencies that provide ambiance and depth and feeling...

The Jeep Patriot...a good job Uncle Sam !
Review of Jeep Patriot 2.0 CRD Limited by
joeyhey2007
Advantages: Good fuel economy, the SUV to drive if you feel guilty for driving an SUV !
Disadvantages: ...Needs Satnav as standard for those long journeys
...from 0-62mph (100kph) in 11s and a top speed of 117mph...though it felt more like 10s with chatter at high revs. With a 6-speed gearbox, the gear stick is very ergonomically placed to enable driving. In general its performance holds up very well.
Inside...the Patriot has invitingly supportive stadium seating and head room is ample ie 2nd row seats are slightly above 1st row, meaning people in the back can see over the drivers head and see all around them. The interior surfaces are dominated by hard plastic. Plenty of room for four but a wide transmission tunnel makes it difficult for a centre rear passenger. The boot is a good size at 536 litres. The rear cargo area features a removable, washable vinyl load floor for those muddy wellies or boots...a nice touch !
One of the favourite features I like...is the available cargo-area light...

Jungle Boogie!
Review of Little Tikes Jungle Gym by
charkai
Advantages: keeps kids amused for hours
Disadvantages: big garden essential!
......
(W) 160 (D) 137 (H) 160 cm
Age Recommendations...
3 to 8 years
The Gym is made of very strong plastic, which is several shades of green, it's yellow and also red. So they are quite eye catching.
Cost....
Argos £129.99 (home delivery only)
John Lewis is £120 ish and they offer home delivery too.
As regards to how long it should last, well hopefully it will last for years, it's very sturdy, easy to clean (just needs wiping with wet cloth every now and again), it seems pretty tough, and it's very well made. It took about 45 minutes to put up, the pieces all slot together, like a big jigsaw puzzle. My son is almost 2 and he manages it very well, he can do it all except the cargo net.
It may seem expensive, but it will last for ages, so they will get plenty of use from it, and hopefully lots of enjoyment as well....

Its not easy being Green.
Review of Army Men 3D (PSX) by
daseaford
Advantages: Good control options.
Disadvantages: None.
....
There is an option to save games and re-load them from your memory card at a later date.
The whole game is very good with many control options, some of the best ones are that your man can crawl along the floor or duck and roll from side to side. The game has good control once you get use to it and all of the options.
There are four vehicles available to you and these are a jeep, a half-track, a cargo truck and a tank. These are quite hard to control as to drive you press forward and these often get stuck on rocks and other obstructions.
As you move around there are many of the eleven different brown boxes that you can pick up. These include flame-throwers, bazookas, medical packs and many more weapons. I particularly like the flame-thrower as you can burn trees and when you use it on another soldier they melt into a puddle on the floor.
When you...

Discover for yourself!
Review of Discovery Museum (Newcastle) by
anwar
Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review
...with working model lock. There are plastic boats to float and cars to push around the riverside roadway. My 5 year old enjoys operating the swing bridge to allow the cars to drive across the river. There are plastic aprons to wear to help keep your children dry. I also like the dryers provided-great for wet sleeves! There are 2 cranes that allow you to unload your cargo. One critism, the working lighthouse has been broken for several months now so I think it is time it was repaired!
Another highlight is the story of the Tyne.
Inside this gallery you will find life sized ships as well as models. My children love using the pulley system to load and unload one of the models, great fun! There is a display showing you the creatures living around and under the Tyne. My 5 year old likes to look at the live tarantula found in some cargo. Another...

Review of I Have A Dream - Westlife by
Nirvanachick2000
Advantages: Zzzzzzzero......
Disadvantages: it's westlife. It's pop.
...a lot of people hate pop for no reason. I on the other hand, hate it because it's obnoxious, plastic, manufactured, all the same as everything else. But top of the most wanted list have to be boy bands. Why are they called bands anyway? They don't play any instruments, they're just another group like steps or s club 7. Do yourself a huge favour today. Don't buy any pop, get some rock. The louder, the better.
Anywho, I have my reaons for hating westlife, and so do the millions of others who aren't eight year old girls....

The production of Mirwais
Review of Production - Mirwais by
peel.rebekah
Advantages: My feet are tapping.
Disadvantages: None.
...of the dance floor, makes your head nod in unison and therefore makes me mess up my eyeliner. The tune takes you higher, while the beat is constant in your chest; the lightening strikes more and more frequently, and the Mirwais mayhem has begun.
Into eighties disco beat intro and globular synth sounds. Hearty strum of the guitar and:
Unhappy girl
Unhappy boy
Unhappy son
Unhappy friend
Are living in a happy world
Are living in a lonely world
Unhappy life
Unhappy love
Unhappy mind
Unhappy soul
We're living in a happy world
We're living in a lonely world
Naive Song secretes endless bubbles of elastic, plastic disco, supported by Mirwais’ genetically modified voice, and gliding, sliding, searing, tearing, ascending, descending bumptious notes.
V.I. (The last words she said before leaving): We are in a large titanium spacecraft, with resounding walls...
