Coco Pops Rocks From Kellogg's
Review of Kelloggs Coco Pops Coco Rocks by  newby2

Advantages: Coco Pops Rocks From Kellogg's
Disadvantages: Coco Pops Rocks From Kellogg's

...Coco Pops Rocks From Kellogg’s Cereal is something I love and I seem to go through boxes of the stuff. I can find that getting the same old sort is rather tiresome and I usually try and try newly released products or ones that are on special offer and I have yet to try. These Coco Pops Rocks were on special offer in Tesco’s a few weeks ago and I think it was something like £2.50 pence for two boxes. They are smaller than most boxes but they are rather heavy and contain a lot of “Rocks” inside. They are fairly new out on to the market and no one I knew had tried them yet so I thought I would give them ago. These chocolate flavoured breakfast cereals I always find rather expensive and no always the best thing to be eating first thing in the morning. I do like to snack on them throughout the day or evening so I don... Read review

Pop One Off
Review of BBC1: Top of the Pops by  peppersinclaire

Advantages: See op
Disadvantages: See op

...There seems to be a consensus amongst the generations who make “yoof” products that you need to show Gen Xers rabidly enjoying something to grab their attention. This is especially true in T land, just witness the slavering mob in Singled Out (MTV/Channel 5) gurning for the cameras and humiliating them in a cattle market format of Blind Date. Ver Pops has the same kind of audience, who look like they’re trying too much to seem cool. The “rock” crowds like to flap their arms like they’re trying to stab themselves in the stomach with a knife in each hand. Sometimes they attempt the pogo, but in their Ben Shermans, it comes off a little naff. The dance crowd either bust some admittedly cool moves, or seem very self conscious with the “holding their arm with their hand” pose. You know, like the kid who... Read review

FALSE GODS - AND POP IDOLS
Review of Pop Idol by  LostWitness

Advantages: Hayley
Disadvantages: Darius

...that’s wrong with the music industry these days. I disagree – I don’t think Pop Idol was exploitative – the contestants had the time of their lives, and I’m sure their appearances have opened up lots of opportunities. Pop Idol was an entertaining format. It grew in tension week on week, and certainly got everyone talking. Pop Idol has nothing to do with the pop industry being corrupt – it was like it before Pop Idol came along and always will be. Pop Idol was not supposed to be Rock Idol, or Opera Idol or Indie Idol – if you don’t like pop music, then chances are you wouldn’t have liked this series either. Saturday night just doesn’t seem quite the same any more – it doesn’t help that Pop Idol has been replaced with that dreadful Stars In Their Eyes crap. It comes... Read review

Top Tunes From Top of the Pops
Review of Top Of The Pops The 80's - Various Artists by  supercityfan

Advantages: Lots of great songs from the eighties
Disadvantages: A few not so great

...performances of Reagan and Gorbachev going toe to toe with one another. An upbeat rock / pop number. A great tune. And the final disc Track 1 - The Way You Make Me Feel - Michael Jackson What can I say about Michael that hasn't been said before. This was released before he went completely do la, and isn't a bad track although nowhere near his best. Any track off Thriller would have been a far better choice. Track 2 - Criticize - Alexander O'Neal A wonderful soulful tune from Alexander O'Neal which manages to break up the electro pop which pretty much dominates the first CD. Track 3 - Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley The Warrington warbler was one of the first squeaky clean artists to role off the Stock, Aitken and Waterman conveyor belt, later to be followed by Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan. Fairly typical... Read review

"WHO ROCKS THE PARTY!"- CHICAGO ROCK CAFE'
Review of Chicago Rock Cafe' - Swansea by  fabfrog5

Advantages: its a colourful restaurant by day, funky club by night!
Disadvantages: you can't guarantee the drinks offers are on!

...elegantly to the upper floor. On this floor there is another bar, a large seating area, a pool table and toilets. There are wooden balconies all around, which you can spy on people down below, bopping about in front of the DJ box! Along the walls in amongst all the musical memorabilia there are small TV screens. These often have fun little pop / entertainment quizzes where you can just answer verbally as it's just for fun! New to open in the early summer of this year is an outside decking area where barbeques are being planned. I have yet to try out this feature so will keep you all posted!! #DECOUR Well, a dominate feature throughout is the music memorabilia along the walls. Hard to spot in among all the rock/pop memorabilia are painted wall scenes featuring minstrels, jazz singers, and painted club scenes of dancing... Read review

My Rock Classics
Review of 10 Best Rock Songs by  Esless

Advantages: They are proper rock songs
Disadvantages: You may not know or like them

..., synthesizers (or keyboards) and a softly tuneful voice create a harmonious blend of rock/pop. It basically tells the story (which RS sings with feeling and meaning) of how his best friend is going out with the girl he wants as his own. Jessie’s got himself a girl and I want to make her mine And she’s watching him with those eyes And she’s lovin’ him that body, I just know it Yeah ‘n’ he’s holding her in his arms late, late at night The lyrics start out really softly, and then as it builds to the very catchy chorus there is a lot of ‘depth’ expressed in RS voice – it’s as if he’s really trying to put his feelings across but can’t because of his friend. The song was from the 1981 Working Class Dog album, and managed to hit the number one spot. 7 BAT OUT... Read review

Review of Pop Idol - The Big Band Album - Various Artists by  dchurch

Advantages: The welcome return of some faces.
Disadvantages: The not so welcome return of others.

...! I'd love to know since who because in my opinion Will can sing anything, ballads, big band tunes, pop, rock.......anything! Inspite of everything Pop Idol has uncovered a true star in Will and I believe he has an almost timeless shelflife. This album helps to show that Pete Waterman may well have been right, we all know he can do pop music as his recent number one showed and here he slipping just as naturally into the guise of a 50's crooner. A belter of a track to open the album with. 2) Get Happy - featuring Zoe. This girl was born to sing big-time show tunes and this is one of the highlights on the album. With her booming voice, personality and looks, Zoe would be a sure-fire hit in musicals and personally I think she should try and forge a career for herself in the West End as oppossed to trying to become the next Whitney Houston... Is that a Dinosaur? No, it`s a Pop-Up.
Review of Encyclopedia Prehistorica Dinosaurs: The Definitive Pop-Up - Matthew Reinhart, Robert Sabuda by  spottydog2

Advantages: Fantastic, intricate, full of knowledge.
Disadvantages: Could be ruined by small hands.

...dinosaurs. The book states on the back that it is suitable for over 5 years old, the information is interesting and factual. The Pop-Ups. * * * * * * * * * * * I could talk for ever about the pop ups but I will just talk about the first page and then you can go out and buy the book and see for yourself. You open the page and up pops a big reddish brown dinosaur. This is impressive enough but there are also flaps to open, they tuck under a little corner to close again. The first flap reveals another pop up green dinosaur, rocks and a dragonfly with an explanation about the ancient earth and the triasic period. The next flap has a different type of dinosaur and then it folds over again and there are two men fighting for fossils. There is also text about each. It looks small this flap from the outside, but it reveals so much... Read review

It's only rock and roll, but i like it!
Review of 10 Best Rock Songs by  black_dog

Advantages: Sex, drugs and rock and roll
Disadvantages: Sex, drugs and rock and roll

...juniors. 4) Bob Dylan performing Like A Rolling Stone I make an exception with Dylan; he's not classic rock, and this is by no means his best song, nor the best example of his work; but it does embody, through live performances and general spirit, the ideals of rock. Up until the mid '60s, Dylan was widely regarded as a folk singer with pop sensibilities. And so when, during the second half (the first half having been acoustic) of his "Royal Albert Hall" concert in 1965, Dylan walked on stage with an electric guitar and a full band, he was greeted with jeering and shouts of "Judas!" having apparently abandoned his folk fan base. Thank God he did; the Dylan of today is an exceptional live performer, transforming acoustic songs with strange timings and harsh solos. When I was lucky enough to see him live, he played everything... Read review

rock out! *edited!*
Review of 10 Best Rock Songs by  Bolly_eggs

Advantages: you will rock out!
Disadvantages: rocking out may not be your cup of tea.

...Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Ac/Dc, Guns N Roses, Motley Crue and even The Beatles are classed as rock. There is just too much variety to narrow down a top ten; I couldn’t try if I wanted to. So I’m not going to simply list a top ten best, this is just going to be 10 songs which I love and that I believe to be possibly the most enduring rock songs of all time. So what makes music ‘rock?’ it seems such a stupid term to name a musical genre after, I mean, Dance music is about dancing, Classical literally is classical. Pop is popular and R’n’B is Rhythm and Blues, all quite self explanatory. Its not as if ‘Rock,’ tells you much about what the music sounds like, if I was to sum it up in a sentence it would be this: ’An energetic infusion of life, a guitar, bass, drum kit and a microphone with all the triumphs...
