Reviews of rubber bands
Loosing my tent
Review of Glastonbury (England) by
jugglingspinster
Advantages: Some top obscure bands, lovely people, not much crime, good sandwichs from the Happy Cheese Company
Disadvantages: Too expensive, new band tent on the MOON, a bit chaotic
...My First Glastonbury- Having managed, spectacually, to miss everybody I was meant to meet, or even knew (beyond an old one night stand in the theatre tent) I watched the bands instead. I wasn't too impressed by the Pyramid Stage line up, though Bowie was fantastic and looked like a prowling lion, but the new bands stage and the avalon stage proved to be great for my obscure tastes. The Egg, Black Box Recorder (the singer resplendantly dressed as a crash test dummy) and The Flaming Lips were all brilliant- the first delivering a weird mix of Radiohead (they are from Oxford) style guitars and ambient. However, the Flaming Lips delivered almost the best gig I have ever seen, for they went crazy-mad on entertainment and all sorts. Their music is fantastic as it stands, and immensely likable, but then you add a rubber nun hand...

Cute and Compact
Review of Belkin Sports Sleeve For iPod mini Protective sleeve MP3 player by
Amyea3
Advantages: small, comfortable, easy to use, looks good, prevents scratches.
Disadvantages: If you don't do much exercise it may not be worth it
...You can pick this up now for around £7, I got mine free with the IPod when I bought it but to be honest mine has a clip on the back of the IPod so this protective sleeve is hardly ever used.
The band itself is made of rubber, it feels comfotable to wear and is very lightweight, the rubber band adds little to no weigh to the actual IPod itself. Because it's made of rubber it also ensures that the IPod is protected against it being dropped, dinged or scratched as much as possible. Of course the screen part is always visable so if anythings going to get broken whilst using it, its the screen, which is probably the worse part to get damaged.
The IPod slips safely and securely into the rubber sleeve, which holds it tightly. The band keeps your iPod screen and controls visible and they are still very easy to use when the IPod...

Avoid this headset, go 3rd party!
Review of Microsoft Xbox Live Communicator Headset by
Rockinricky
Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: akward design, can break, doesnt fit everyones heads..
....
Because of this, you had to constantly sit awkwardly..
Another issue with this headset, was that the communicator and the rubber thing weren't fixed together ,
you had to clip it onto it, with a considerable amount of force, because you had to clip it onto the rubber part every time you wanted to use the communicator,
the clip would eventually break, and your only sollution - rubber bands, or tape. This was the fate of many who bought this for their xbox.
If you are wanting a headset for your xbox, ignore the cheap price of this accesorie,
go for the one that costs the £2 more, and get one with a decent design, and that wont make you mad ingame,
or cause you to crash your car because the headset lunges away from your head.
Go 3rd party on this one......

Review of Very Best Of 10cc, The [Remastered] - 10cc by
CrutcHead
Advantages: comprehensive
Disadvantages: could've been a double cd package instead
...coincidental similarities with the other (and my fave'rite) art-rock band SUPERTRAMP in their songs' sound and lyrics.
This cd contains the whole set of their familliar/not-so familliar tracks (at least to the non-10CC fan listener) - such as: "Rubber Bullets", "The Dean And I", the cheesy track "Donna" (their first single as 10cc), "The Wall Street Shuffle", "Life Is a Minestrone" (w/c's funny w/ its reference to Minnie Mouse and the Pope), "I'm Mandy Fly Me" (that perhaps carry one of the best guitar interludes ever recorded), and one of their greatest songs ever "The Things We Do For Love".
The cd's booklet have a brief narrative on 10cc's history by Chris White, and along are the indications of chart position(s) for each track plus their discography.
So if you are a non-fan of 10CC but would like to have them on your file collection...

Review of Slipknot [PA] - Slipknot by
PunkRockRulez2001
Advantages: MOSHING MUSIC, HEAVY, GOTHIC, FREAKY, COOL
Disadvantages: Too freaky for some
......'intimidating'...their usual dress comprises of evil clown suits, freaky gas masks, long rubber noses, a mask with nails sticking out of it and a 'man in the iron mask'.
Their more famous tracks include Wait & Bleed, Left Behind, The Heretic Anthem, Sic and Srufacing. Another 'disturbing' feature of Slipknot is the cover for the new album, it's a picture of a goat, with the colours 'tweaked' to give it an evil look, most people immediately dismiss this album because of it's cover, although some people (myself included) have nothing against gothic stuff, it's pretty cool. I'm not sure what else I should write about a band, suggestions welcome!...

Convoy
Review of Convoy (Wide Screen) by
blissman70
Advantages: a good entertaining movie..
Disadvantages: can be boring for some
...Director: Sam Peckinpah
Producer: Robert M. Sherman
Writer: B. N. L. Norton
Stars: Kris Kristofferson, Ali MacGraw, Ernest Borgnine, Burt Young, Franklyn Ajaye and Madge Sinclair
This movie was released in 1978 with the intentions of being as popular as as an earlier country and western type film called 'Smokey and the bandit' but falling slightly short of its goal.
Convoy, however, did more for the Citizen Band radio than any advertisement could ever achieve.
**BRIEF PLOT**
When trucker Martin Penwald, {C.B. name rubber duck}, (played by Kris Kristofferson) crosses the path of local Sherriff Lyle Wallace, {Cottonmouth}, (played by Ernest Borgnine) rubber ducks life takes a turn for the worst.
After a brief altercation at a truck-stop involving Cottonmouth, rubber duck and other truckers and C.B. enthusiast, including Pig pen...

Rock your face off
Review of Rock Band (Xbox 360) by
callmegreer
Advantages: +Good fun +great multiplayer +Great songs
Disadvantages: -poor guitar peripheral
...that they are trying to add new features to a tried and tested concept, but I have played Rock Band extensively and not once used the smaller buttons, and not had it effect my game, for the purpose of the review I tried shifting from large to small buttons, and only found that I missed the first few notes, where I would have been able to get them on the larger buttons.
THE DRUMS - The drum set peripheral is generally a good piece of equipment, four rubber drum pads and a kick pedal. The pads have colored rings around the edges that correspond to the notes on-screen and an orange line represents the kick pedal. The four drums are technically in the wrong order and don't really represent an actual drum kit very well, the high hat should be left of the snare drum, and is set a lot higher, however on the Rock Band set the high hat is on the right of the snare...

Impressive performance from a stick!!
Review of Gymstick by
Suzanne57
Advantages: Very versatile - Suprisingly Effective - Easy to store
Disadvantages: Getting used to a new way of training
...QUICK REVIEW -
Suprisingly good!
RECOMMENDED for serious training, lighter work or rehabilitation.
WHAT IS IT -
A fibreglass stick, two rubber bands/tubes that attatch to both ends of the stick and the other end of the band has a foot loop. It has two sponge hand grips.
You also get a neat carry case, instruction booklet, DVD with workouts and a serial number to access to their Owner's web site.
WHY DID I BUY ONE -
I have gone to a gym for many years, enjoying aerobic exercise and using weights to keep in shape. However, I decided the cost of going to a female friendly gym had got rediculous, plus a bad back has limited how I use a gym.
I needed some home equipment but we are short on space and I have a limited budget. I first saw the Gymstick in the John Lewis catalogue and then researched it on the internet. I...

The pop master-piece of all times
Review of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - Beatles (The) by
Billy_Shears
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...It was thirty years ago today... or perhaps a little more. It does not actually matter. There are some master-pieces stronger than time, chronology, reality. Sgt. Pepper is one of those works crossing periods. The Beatles had been doing lots of very interesting things. They had been doing rock n'roll (Please Please Me), they had been doing "commercial" products ("commercial" with the Beatles is not "commercial" with Britney Spears, naturally). To my mind, before 1966, their best album is "Help". And they started something new with "Revolver" where songs were somewhat experimental. Something new were born. And in 1967, Paul McCartney had the idea of this imaginary band... Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The name referred to the american-like names of bands. On the cover, some very influent personalities such as Oscar Wilde...

Finnish David Lynch Meets Blues Brothers
Review of Leningrad Cowboys Go America DVD by
dancingfishes
Advantages: surreal comedy
Disadvantages: none, I love it
...I once heard this film described as what might have been the result if David Lynch had directed The Blues Brothers. That's a description that I would struggle to beat. However, the man responsible for this gem of a film is the one and only Aki Kaurismäki. This man is the key player in the Finnish film industry and his sense of the ridiculous is never too far away. For example another notable films he has directed is "Hamlet Goes Business", a modern day Hamlet set in a rubber duck factory. Get the picture?
In "Leningrad Cowboys Go To America" Aki Kaurismäki portrays the Leningrad Cowboys (a real-life Finnish
rock band) as a down and out Russian rock band under the tutelage of a corrupt manager (Matti Pelonpää) who takes them on a journey to America in search of success and money. The result has to be one of the most surreal and absurd...
