...Model Rail Magazine is a useful magazine in the world of model railways in both "OO" and "N" scales. Its layout review with pictures gives an excellent view of the work gone into creating the layout and details the equipment used. The magazine also reviews new model that have come out onto the market in both scales and its detailed breakdown of the locomotives I have found to be very useful in my purchasing of the locomotives. The technical breakdown of the engines would interest the more serious modeller to improve the realistic feel of the model for myself it is interesting to see how much can be done with the models. At the back of the magazine is the directory which gives a good selection of mail order shops and web-sites that will sell too you direct and covers most scales and specialist models. ...Our bathroom is quite small and as it contains a shower it can be a bit damp at times. Because of this our mechanical scales, which were acquired a long time ago, had become a bit rusty and decrepit. Apart from that I disliked the circular dial, it was too small and the markings in stones, pounds and kilograms were difficult to read. So I decided to look around for a replacement. I wanted a basic scale that is easy to read, easy to keep clean and which can resist damp conditions. Initially I looked at mechanical scales as I didn't want the hassle of replacing batteries, but the ones I looked at mostly seemed difficult to read. The models intended for professional use are better as they have raised dials, but they are larger and more expensive. ...As part of a university course I have just been studying, I was supplied with a copy of Using UML - Software Engineering with Objects and Components. This book is quite heavy going but it does provide an excellent introduction into the whole subject of large-scale software engineering and the modelling tool language, UML (Unified Modelling Language) which is used to keep these big projects under control. UML allows the construction of many different models of a software system which can help to guide the analysis, design and implementation which is often undertaken by vast teams of people, UML is a standard anguage through which these people can communicate and thus (hopefully) keep the whole affair on track. It's not exactly bedtime reading, but I recommend it nonetheless, particularly if software engineering floats your boat.... Read review

Advantages: Premade articulated models, easy to use

...modelers alike. The library comes with lots of human models, and a few animals, not to mention some robots. There is a useful but not extensive collection of poses too. Models are all articulated around the joints (lots of joints) and body parts can be deformed, scaled, messed around with and replaced with props. Poser is a great 3D modeler for human/animal models, but I would not compare it to the likes of Studio Max and Truespace directly. If you need accurate human models, you can't do much better than Poser.... Read review

I decided that it was time for me to buy some digital scales with a big screen to see the small changes my diet was doing. I saw many different scales, but at the end I decided to buy this one for many reasons: because it is not expensive, because it is really thin and can fit under my bed, and because the screen is big. .... If you have lean muscle then the current will pass through much quicker than it did with little old fatty me. Although this machine will not magically make me lose weight it will help to educate me. This is a dual use set of scales and has a weigh only function mode so is suitable for use by the whole family if they are over seven years of age. For normal weighing you can chose to view your weight in kilograms, pounds or stones but if you exceed 21 stone you will be wasting your money as you are far too heavy to use this particular set of scales.
