...Thanks to Denises review, i just bought my Self Adhesive Vinyl tiles at www.flooring.uk.com. The £6.98 per pack had been reduced to £4.50 per pack which includes VAT and delivery is Free, for a beautiful stone coloured design i went for. Sorry Denise, they have a sale on now. For my room of 6' x 10' it cost me £49.50 and i fitted them with ease in my kitchen, recommend anyone to get them, a lot better than vinyl sheet as it doesnt leave any marks were the chairs are, and they look like a sandstone tile. So pleased with my kitchen now, i can mop the tiles easily too. www.flooring.uk.com was such an easy site to navigate round, once i worked out how many tiles i needed i added them to my cart and paid online, received the tiles next day about 10:00 in the morning. ...I recently bought some Self Adhesive vinyl tiles for my elderley neighbour, to freshen up her kitchen, as she wanted a change on a limited budget. She does not have much money, so i gave her the idea of just sticking down self stick vinyl tiles on top of her existing vinyl (it has been down 20 years, very clean still but a dodgy terracotta swirly design and makes the room look dingy). It's called: Westco Timberstyle Self adhesive Plank flooring ( a bit of a mouthful I know!) and, basically is vinyl flooring but with a twist - it looks like laminate! Details Price For £9.99 you get 7 strips of vinyl that will cover 1 sq metre of floor.It took me 3 packs to cover my pretty average sized bathroom. Choice At my store there were 5 different shades of 'laminate style' vinyl. I chose "Sawn Oak Effect" which looks like darker, good quality flooring. ...makes of vinyl tiles, ie. polyflor (which they also sell) which have the same specification as karndean but are cheaper, so i looked at there online store and found the product but at a cheaper price than Karndean. After asking the man at flooring uk to send me some samples of the vinyl tiles they had on offer, i went for a woodplank vinyl tile called True Forest Oak, I paid £40 a box which covers 3.34m2 that included VAT and delivery which i thought was cheap, as opposed to £56.99 a box for karndean even though that still was a fraction of what my friend paid (hehe i didnt tell her as she would of gone mad). After telling the man at www.flooring.uk.com the size of my rooms he worked out exactly what i needed including adhesive and amount of boxes. Advantages: Good finish, cheap yet effective.

...to use PVA to prime the floor.. but as every good DIYer knows it's best to not take instructions too much to heart. We found we didn't need any PVA. The self adhesive on the back of the tiles gripped like superglue to the dodgy ceramic tiles we found hidden under the grubby carpet we ripped up in order to do the floor in the first place. We even found that the paper you rip off the back of the tiles to reveal the sticky backs was useful for drawing templates for akward corners. Now I cannot stop myself looking at our gorgeous floor. It looks very professional (if I do say so myself) and you cannot even tell that it is tiles - it looks like a roll of lino. I am glad it was tiles though with a sheet of lino one little mistake and you have wasted the lot. I have had a bath and not gone "arse over tit". Alhough we do have a nice fluffy mat... Read review

It’s not particularly difficult or skilful – you simply need to be particularly careful to keep everything clean if you are to achieve a good finish. This needs to be done every six months and is one of the conditions for the 20 year guarantee for a floor in a residential property. When the floor was laid it looked excellent. Once it had been treated it looked stunning. A pack of cleaner, stripper and finisher came as part of the initial purchase of the floor and should last for two treatments. Also included in the initial purchase price is a set of self-adhesive felt pads, which reduce the impact of furniture on the floor. I’ve attached them to the bottom of the stool...
