My Love For Shellys
Review of Shelly`s (Shop) by
Celia86
Advantages: read op
Disadvantages: read op
...I'm writing this for no reason really....I was just looking through everyones opinions and spotted one on Shellys!
If you've ever seen me, or you know me, you'll realise that I aren't the average 'i love shoes' kinda girl! I'm one of those kids that parents dread their kids turning into, one who wears baggy pants that trail on the floor :)
Well, moving on...I bought my last pair of trainers from Shellys which brings me to the reason I've actually decided to write this! I bought them about 2 weeks ago now from the Leeds branch.
The Leeds branch of the store is on Briggate, opposite Benneton and near to HMV. It's quite a big store with an lower and upper floor. The store isn't suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs which is probably its only downfall.
The lower floor is dedicated to mens shoes and trainers. The trainers here...

The worst sports store in England
Review of JD Sports (Shop) by
dollyvan
Advantages: A Wide selection of sports wear
Disadvantages: Exchange Policy/Staff appealing
...Even now with the worst customer service staff in retail you almost over look bad service (especially in london) when you intend on purchasing items as rude, unhelpful staff appear to be the norm.
However I brought a pair of trainers one sunday and wore them to the gym the following Thursday, I noticed the stitching inside the trainer was faulty and was rubbing against my foot
When I brought the trainers back to teh shop for an exchange I was told they would be sent to the headoffice for an inspection and the trainers would be returned in 7-10 days.
No exchange, refund policy is advertised in the store so unless your shoe is damaged you will end up with bags of excuses why you can not exchange the trainer etc.
The service in Clapham Junction is shockingly bad, the staff lack any motivation, ambition or have any common sense at all...

Shoe Zone
Review of Shoe Zone by
barberanna72
Advantages: Good Value, Convenience and Choice
Disadvantages: Sizes can vary
...This is the first year I have used Shoe Zone to Purchase the childrens school shoes. I used to use Clarks but their typical prices for childrens shoes are pushing towards £37 pair.
I Purchased a pair of coated leather boys shoes in Shoe Zone for £12. There was certainly plenty of choice. The feedback I get is that they are very comfortable. There trainers are also very good value. £4.99 bought a very tidy pair of boys trainers which were ideal for playing out with friends and the weekly PE lessons.
In our local Shoe Zone, you measure your own or your own childs feet using the measure they provide. I actually like this because you don't have the bother of waiting for an assistant to become available. You must make sure you try all shoes on as I have found that their sizes are a little on the small side and have had to buy a larger...

Good all purpose shoe, also suitable for cricket
Review of Adidas Uproar Indoor Shoes by
Morgenhund
Advantages: Comfortable, well made, reasonable price
Disadvantages: not a lot of toe protection
...I have starting playing indoor cricket, and have been playing on polished wooden surfaces, where grip has been important, especially when bowling. I found the Adidas Uproar to be very comfortable, although not specifically designed for cricket, although taking one on the foot from an indoor ball still hurts.
For bowling I found grip very good, essential if you want to avoid turning your ankle over when bowling, even though these are a low cut trainer. The bottom of the shoe has a non-marking indoor sole, and good traction. A cross trainer cut would be a plus, although these shoes were good value and being well made will undoubtedly last for a long time....

Shoes for your feet .
Review of Clarks Shoes (Shop) by
mumsymary
Advantages: good fit shoe
Disadvantages: expensive
...little bones are not squashed and restricted.
Clarks have a reasonable range of shoes simple soft shoes for little feet and sturdier shoes for more robust feet that stomp around the playground. Clarks make school shoes and trainers too, also slippers and sandals. Shoes that are designed for boys and for girls.
Measuring your Childs feet and having the right sized shoe is so important.
Clarks make shoes for men and for ladies too I believe my husband has a pair of men’s shoes he bought in the sales. The men’s styles are ok, nothing ground breaking but standard sensible shoes think that the Clarks ladies styles can be a bit frumpy not really fashionable, but they are well made and a good quality so ladies for sensible shoes they are fine. The Clarks shop in my town also sells Echo shoes and K shoes i believe clarks own k shoes...

Cool shoes - so why so offensive?
Review of acupuncture.com by
mrswombat
Advantages: attractive shoes
Disadvantages: don't go here if you don't want you in-box full of pornography
...Most of us realise that swearing, in and of itself, isn't funny by about the age of five or six. So why have the people who run this shoe site not cottoned on to that? They have an excellent range of trainers - including some very pretty designs suitable for young girls. That's how my little niece came across this site. Then she got some emails suggesting she undertook some sexual practices that even a sophisticated x-rated site viewer may not have heard of. Assuming this was spam we complained. But no - the site had suddenly metamorphosed from being cool and fun into something that swears like a trooper the minute you type in the URL. I'm certainly no prude, but swearing at me & sending filthy emails is not going to make me buy trainers. This is a highly dubious marketing tactic. They've lost hundreds of pounds worth of custom from us...

Dash Over Here.
Review of ontherun.co.uk by
pishton
Advantages: Great overall
Disadvantages: None
...My experience of On The Run is in stark contrast to Elvina's, as described in her review.
Their web site, ontherun.co.uk, was recommended to me by a friend who had bought a pair of trainers from them.
OTR is aimed at runners, it does not sell "fashion" trainers. They have a very large selection of running shoes and spikes, as well as other running related items such as clothing and heart rate monitors.
Their prices are well below those of high street shops, if indeed you can find most of their products in sports shops. They offer a guarantee to beat any other supplier's price.
The web site is well laid out with good descriptions of their products and clear pictures. The ordering process is very easy and delivery charges are reasonable, £1.99.
My new trainers were with me the next day.
Overall I was very impressed by their service...

The saviour of any girl's wardrobe floor
Review of Schuh (Shop) by
Clare_1
Advantages: Good range, reasonable prices, continuous sales
Disadvantages: NOt enough of them in the world
...Schuh is my little piece of heaven on the high street. When a girl can't find clothes that suit her, what is she to do? Shop for shoes, that is what!!!! As the proud owner of nearly 30 pairs of shoes, I am ready to testify that Schuh is my alternative desert island disc!
Seriously though, this is a shoe shop based in Scotland that sells name-brand shoes from Acupuncture to Adidas, from Nike to New Balance, from Caterpillar to Converse. It also has its own range of shoes. They sell sensible shoes such as the kind that your parents would allow you to walk straight out of the shop in to the kind of boots that not even the least self-respecting lady of the night would wear - think Julia Roberts in the early shots of Pretty Woman and you have what I am talking about! Their range of trainers is outstanding.
Now for the nitty-gritty - prices...

Super-comfortable and great quality shoes
Review of hottershoes.com by
sunstarrr
Advantages: comfy, well made, range of styles and colours, great customer service
Disadvantages: you have to wait for them to arrive!
...I now own 3 pairs of Hotter shoes - all extremely comfortable, well made, and fairly priced, I wouldn't hesitate to buy more!
Range
Hotter are often viewed as as making "old ladies' shoes" but in fact they make a range of styles including pretty wedge mules for summer, smart courts (perfect for work!), walking boots, trainers and slippers. The majority of styles come in a range of colours so you're sure to find something that suits you. They make womens' shoes in size 3 -9 and mens' shoes in size 6-12, including extra wide sizes, however there's a wider range of womens' styles available.
Comfort and Quality
I've found all the Hotter shoes I've purchased to be of excellent quality, and, most importantly, they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned! Before buying Hotter shoes I'd resigned myself to having to "break in" new...

Clarks crawlers are a good buy
Review of Clarks Shoes (Shop) by
emmaffoster
Advantages: Easy to put on, flexible and comfortable
Disadvantages: More expensive than other retailers
...was great, as when he was crawling about in his other soft shoes the front become very scuffed. The shoe is very soft and flexible and bends with the foot so it looks very comfortable. It is also very easy to put on as it has an elastic part at the front which loosens for you to slide the foot in, you then tighten it when it is on the foot. This is a lot easier to cope with than your normal velcro or laces.
The shoe comes in three different styles, blue for boys, pink for girls and then a white leather which is unisex and looks very similar to a trainer. Although the shoe is a bit more costly than a normal baby shoe (£14.99), it is a good buy. They are hardwearing and still look as good as new 2 months down the line. If you want your children to be comfortable when they get to that mobile stage, these are the shoes to buy....
