Advantages: Healthy and tasty start to the day

...In a world where children are hypnotised by Chocolate covered everything including cereals, it can be difficult for a mother to ensure her kids get a descent start to the day. I am lucky in that my 2 year old - who loves ice cream and all things chocolate also loves fruit. ...Seven AM, bleary eyed, toddler chatting continuously, need breakfast to: 1. Wake up, 2. Shut the toddler for a moment, 3. Because I am hungry. Open the cupboard; give what is left of the breakfast boulders to the daughter. There are four left at the bottom of packet, not enough for my hunger. Check the cornflakes – they look stale and ready for the bin. Check out the weatabix; there is just one left, and that looks half crumbled. Last resort: the Shredded Wheat. I sigh and open the box. The packet asks if I could eat three. Don’t think I would want to even try. Haven’t had these in decades. Put two in a bowl, add milk and sprinkle of sugar. Take to table where daughter is munching on breakfast boulders. She laughs at my breakfast. Yes… very funny. I take a bite. I am reminded on those lazy days of summer... Read review

...Er, don't get the wrong idea with the titile! I'm talking about a cereal here, I'll have you know! Anyway, I can't believe that this cereal has not yet been reviewed about - until now that is! I do like my cereal in the mornings, and often try different kinds. But on this occasion I decided to opt for Nestle's Honey Nut Shredded Wheat. I paid £1.77 for a 500g packet. The packet is a bright yellow in colour. It's a very cheery colour, like sunshine. It has a big yellow heart on the front with the named cereal in the centre. There is also a splattering of the mini sized shredded wheat all over the packet. On the side of the packet are the ingredients and nutritional information. The cereal contains 6.6g of fat, and of protein contains 379kcal (based on 100g). Inside the packet is another foil like bag with the cereal enclosed... Read review

I am not about to enter any debate regarding boycott of their products, as it is the product I am reviewing and not company ethics� I have always been a huge fan of cereal, albeit not the ones that are overloaded with sugar and extra colourings - if I crave sweetness then I’ll have some chocolate if that’s all the same! Daft thing is, I never have (or allow myself) the time in the morning to eat a breakfast. I’m out of my bed and out the front door within 15 minutes max and truth be told, it takes me a good hour or two to come round to the idea of eating anything. I do manage to take cereal to work with me and enjoy a mid-morning munch at my desk. For the majority of the time, my cereal devotion is dedicated to evening snacking in front of the telly. ...Being a cereal lover - i jumped at the chance to try a new kind.After browsing the shelves ,tired of the run-of -mill and quite frankly tasteless shredded wheat and special K(and various cheaper knock offs) I saw a box that caught my eye...A Kellogs creation.. surely theyre not just shredded wheat in disguise? All the same...they went in my basket. IM HUNGRY-OPEN THE BOX No time to waste! Everything about the box makes me want to have a cereal induced embolism-they look like crispy delicious squares of hevean with their purple background..enough talking im ravenous! ...When it comes to breakfast, I usually have Weetabix, and more recently Ready Brek. But now I'm eating Shredded Wheat for breakfast. Whilst shopping in Tesco's the other day I bought a packet of Nestle Shredded Wheat for £1.47. For that price you will be getting 18 biscuits. PACKAGING ~~~~~~~~~~ The large box is yellow with a deeper yellow heart in the middle with the Shredded Wheat name on the front in red lettering. The top of the box is green with the nutritional information in it. On the back of the box is information about the 100% whole grain wheat cereal. There is a bit of information at the top about this cereal from Dr. Clare Chapman, a Nestle Nutritionist. Disadvantages: Chewy raisins and sultanas + nuts if you have an allergy.

...Always on the lookout for bargains at present, I spotted two Shredded Wheat Fruitful for the price of one. As amazing as it may seem, I do find time to eat other things besides chocolate. So, for a change I thought I would give these a try. A Brief History In 1868 Henri Nestle set up a sales office in London and in 1901 the first UK company was opened. In 1905 they merged with the the Anglo Swiss Condensed Milk Company. Most of the early products were chocolate, of course. Advantages: Kids & birds will like them - I hope

...Currently being advertised by Michael Owen are Sporties, a new variation on (mini) shredded wheat. Packed into the middle of each "wheat" is a yellowy mixture, which I believe is a blob of solid glucose. The result, blummin awful! (or repugnant as the review below says!) They were on offer at our local supermarket and after my first bowl, remain untouched. The wheats are just like shredded wheat, however the glucose has a sickly sweet and slightly sour taste. I'm sure chocolate flavouring would make these much nicer! The box is quite big & would last a fair few servings I guess. They cost £1.60ish (I think), we got 2 for 1, however I think both boxes will shortly end up in the garden for the birds to eat over winter (see, they do have a use!) Whilst I'm sure kids will lap them up because of the advertising, I'd advise against them... Read review
