A Sleeping Child
Review of Poetry by
Shadowtwinchaos
Advantages: This was written for my daughter, who is now 13. She has ADHD. I wrote this for her when she was 6.
Disadvantages: She spends more time awake than alseep.
...I think I love you most at night
When sleep has taken your day
All the laughter, anger and joy
From your face hs faded away.
Your head rest gently on a pillow
Angelic in sleeps soft repose
I brush your hair back from your face,
Kiss you gently on your nose.
The anger at your naughty deeds
Done at such a hectic pace
All are gone at the end of day
Looking at your sleep sweet face.
During the day we run and play
Your never quiet or still
Sitting on the edge of your bed
Is when I feel my heart swell
I softly whisper in your ear
I love you and sleep tight
Sometimes you asnwer back at me
I love you Mommy, good night.
Sometimes I want to wake you up
And talk in sleep filled whispers
To talk of unicorns and rainbows
And dream up Santa Claus wishes.
Instead I give you one last kiss
And tuck you in warm and tight.
I think of tomorrow...

Night-night everyone!
Review of Cuddle Up Tight! - Rosie Reeve by
kingfisher111
Advantages: lovely story and illustrations
Disadvantages: none!
...You can tell that any book with the title 'Cuddle Up Tight!' is going to be a good one and leave you with a warm happy feeling - and there's only one way to read such a book - cuddling up tight with your little one!
'Cuddle Up Tight!' is a delightful picture story book written and illustrated by Rosie Reeve. This is the first of her books I have read with my daughters so I didn't really know what to expect, but as I said at the beginning, I felt from the title that it was going to be just our sort of book! It tells the story of a little girl who goes to bed every night with her teddy. They cuddle up and say 'night! night!'. However, on this one particular night there is a storm blowing up outside and Teddy is scared. He wants big Spotty Leopard in bed with him because he is not scared of anything! But Spotty Leopard can not sleep...

Review of Insomnia - Stephen King by
anguk
Advantages: compelling read, thought provoking
Disadvantages: can't put it down
...This is my favourite Stephen King book, it's not a horror or even a thriller but it captivated me so much that I could hardly put it down. The story is centred around the main character Ralph who, over a period of time, finds it more and more difficult to sleep. The reason for his insomnia is what makes the book so enthralling.
Stephen King has a knack of being able to get into your mind with his books and this novel does that more than any other. By the time you've finished you almost believe that the whole story could be true.
When Stephen King gives a book the title of insomnia it conjures up images of being afraid to sleep because of some awful horror. For me insomnia meant not being able to sleep because I spent most of the night reading it!
I've read this book five times now and know it inside out, but it still makes me think...

A must for all parents..........
Review of Mothercare flannelette cot sheet by
moonlightmist
Advantages: A good buy for your child's cot.........
Disadvantages: none......
...I use a mothercare sheet over my son tucked in around him.
He used too push his quilts off, so i compromised and put a thin cover over him, which is tucked in around him. He now sleeps soundly and no waking up cold, as it is tucked in tight enough for him to breathe easily, he cannot kick it off now. So it means a good night sleep for the both of us.
At the moment that is perfect as it is hot,but i thought it would be cold in Winter, so means a blanket tucked in though, a mothercare blanket. They come in all different colours blue, green, yellow, white and costed me £5.99 for a twin pack from mothercare....

Sleep tight
Review of SlumberSac Sleeping Bags by
zomak24u
Advantages: Helps baby sleep better
Disadvantages: It's like being in a bean bag, when a toddler wakes up it's tricky standing up
...My son hadn't slept throughout the night since we brought him home from the hospital, and that was more than a year ago. I have tried several sleep techniques- establishing a bed time routine by having a bath at night with bedtime wash and applying bedtime lotion, reading a book, winding down e.t.c but he would wake up at least twice during the night. He would often wake up because the room was too cold and he had kicked off the covers. I read a comment from a mother who wrote that sleeping bags could make a baby sleep better. Though I had read about them and seen a few in stores, I wasn't personally familiar with sleeping bags, no I knew had used them as a child nor used them on their children, so it was a novel concept to me. Despite that, I decided to give it a try.
The bag is designed to use a baby's body heat to keep him/her warm...

Great for a short break
Review of Pacific International Hotel, Sydney by
Joll
Advantages: Close to Central Station and within walking distance of most attractions.
Disadvantages: No views.
...My husband and I recently spent four days at this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised at how near the hotel is to Central Station. There is no need to get a taxi, it took 5 minutes to walk. The hotel is in an old listed building, which is decorated in the Art Deco style. Our room was quite small but was clean and had everything you would expect from a four star hotel. The only downside was that we did not have a view, but this didn't really bother us as we were out most of the time and only came back to sleep.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the cooked breakfast was excellent. There is a car park in the basement which we used for one night, at a charge, although the spaces are a little tight.
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely stay there again. Great value for money....

Sleep tight!
Review of Dupont Sleepright Coolmax foam crib mattress by
karagerrie
Advantages: Keep baby cool and prevents overheating
Disadvantages: Expensive
...label attached so we thought that it was possible that this was the non sleep side, so we checked with mothercare.
This comes from the packaging and label of the mattress.
1. Place baby on back to sleep
2. Don't smoke and avoid smokey atmospheres
3. Don't allow baby to overheat
4. If you think your baby is ill contact your doctor
A baby who is vomiting needs watching. This mattress may not soak up vomit.
Wipe clean using warm water or warm water and a mild detergent.
The catalogue also says that the mattress provides good support for baby's back, neck and head.
I thought that these were the better mattress when I was buying for my son. However, he hated sleeping in anything that had bars and after sleeping for only ever an hour at the most he would cry and cry till he came in with us. This meant that we used the mattresses for a limited...

Review of Member Advice on Ciao Addiction by
melee679
Advantages: of what? ciao or my verse?
Disadvantages: you have to listen to me. again.
...I tried to make it rhyme for you/ but it went against the grain/ the couplets i was devising/ left me in intense pain...
**CHOW**
Hugging duvet tight
The thick blackness
Envelopes me.
Sleep, my estranged friend
Taunts from moonlit rooftops.
No sound penetrates here,
This sticky dark trap
With withered venus tendrils.
Its blunt edges cut my breath,
A face inside a bubble.
But muffled noise from a bright web
Unfurls me from my prison nest.
Drawn to a luminous square
Where I begin to exist again.
My voice gets stronger,
Competing against the crowd
As my broken synapses spark
A virtual elixir
Courses through my veins.
Now sleep would make it's apology
And rattles against brittle windows.
But I, unblinking, have no need.
Melee has left this ravaged body
And flies, high, through cyberspace,
Helpful and alive,
Lost in a secret game
Hooked...

Night night sleep tight
Review of Slumberland drawer master bed by
mumsymary
Advantages: A good nights sleep
Disadvantages: none
...Slumberland.
Night night sleep tight mind the bed bugs don’t bite ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
My husband and I sleep on a slumberland bed. We bought it about 18 months ago. There are a variety of different slumberland beds and mattresses ours is the one shown here I think. Our bed is a king size it is also available in double or super king. We bought it from Benson beds. R R P is over £899We also bought ours in sale somewhere between £400 and£500 I notice in the sale today its £389 Slumberland beds are quite easy to find from other retailers.
Our bed has a blue check design. It is a mattress on a 4-drawer divan base. The draws are a good size and seem quite strong, I keep spare bedding in ours.
Bensons delivered our bed, neighbours let them in while we were at work, and they left our bed at the bottom of the stairs. Arriving...

An overview for the uninitiated
Review of Member Advice on Travel Preparation by
salty_monk
Advantages: Keep Warm! Go 5 season if u can......
Disadvantages: None if you don't buy cheap "wind tunnels"
...Ok, Sleeping Bags.
Lets assume that the main criteria here is that you wanna be warm!
Sleeping Bags come in ratings of seasons - 5 is the warmest (for use when ice climbing etc) going down to 1. I
f it hasn't got a rating walk away!
They generally come in 2 shapes, those that are like a tube with a hood are warmer than the square "wind-tunnels"!.
They use 2 types of filling - Hollow Fill or Down. These also have different ratings so check the spec!
Down packs smaller but hollow fill remains warm when it's wet (as down just clumps together).
Remember that sleeping bags do require replacement from time to time (& washing!!) & that one you used in the army 20 years ago just might not cut it anymore!
At the end of the day you'll know - the obvious test is whether you get cold feet or not.
As with all things you get what you pay...
