..., we've left behind some great built in appliances - but not this time, I'm taking this one with me! The Smeg A1 model is 900cm wide, most normal ovens are 500 - 600 wide. We bought a stainless steel splashback and hood to match. It was part of a package bought from an online retailer. It sat in the hallway for months, because we saw the offer, saving several hundred pounds, and bought it there and then - even though we hadn't finished the kitchen itself! It comes with six gas rings, one really small one for milk pan-sized saucepans, one medium sized ring for the next sized saucepan up, two larger ones, one huge one (use for my Wok usually, but turned down low, as it is a monster!), and a fish kettle ring (elongated, especially for long thin pans). The hot fan & upper & lower heat function reduces a meal cooking time from 45 mins to 30, if it's something which can be heated this quickly. Many pre-prepared meals can. This oven cooks potato wedges - home-made - in 25 mins flat, baked pots in record time - and all at an A-rated power usage. The oven is rated 16amps, having taken advice upon this from an electrician, we are running our oven on a standard 13 amp socket with no trouble at all, and our 16amp Smeg microwave is on the same 30 amp feed from our fusebox. If you would wish to install the oven on a 16a supply, you will have to have it installed - or at least wired up - by a qualified electrician. Advantages: The machine does not make much noise

...I had three of these machines in less than a year and finally gave up. I belived that Smeg was a reliable make, and although we never had a problem getting replacements on indeed our money back in the end all three machines were a pain from start to finish. They did not wash my dishes very clean and were a disater for my glasses leaving them very scratched after just one wash let alone dirty. Big items like pans were just not worth putting in the washer as they never came out clean. Cutlery always needed at least two washes and often came out covered in water marks. The dishwasher tablets do not disolve properly however having used the same make in a different machine I had no problem. I believe that the Smeg does not heat the water to a hot enough temperature. ...Got a Smeg A2 just after they came out. My wife did a long and exhausting comparison with just about every other range cooker available before settling on the Smeg. Our runs on LPG. This was a simple conversion, all the bits were included and detailed instructions given. It has been heavily used, my wife cooks for an old folks club in the village. The only problem in the 6+ years was the thermocouples were flakey. The gas would sometimes be hard to light and would occasionally go out. I had to regularly remove an clean the contacts under the thermocouples. The problem was that they got dirty after pans overboiled and the contacts failed to work. A quick clean and a rub with wet-and-dry sandpaper did the trick. I don't have the thermocouple problem now as Smeg have redesigned then. They are now 2-wire, and don't depend on earthing... On a general note, we fully kitted out our kitchen with Smeg, we have had problems with everything and have been very unimpressed with Smeg quality and customer service. ...I can`t believe that I am actually sitting here writing an opinion on a cooker hood. What the Smeg can I possibly say that will make anyone out there want to buy a Smeg KSEIV95X cooker hood ? And who the hell would want to put anything in their kitchen with the word SMEG emblazoned across it. The modern homes exhibition will never be the same again. Beautiful fitted kitchens that contain more SMEG than a Thailand brothel. It is a hood, it is made by Smeg, it goes above the cooker and it sucks out all the unwanted fumes that make your nice clean home smell like a backstreet greasy spoon diner. And before anyone asks me, yes, I do get commission for the number of times I include the name SMEG in my op (I wish). lmao. The KSEIV95X cooker hood from Smeg (god, I hate saying that word) is quite simply the Rolls Royce of cooker hoods... Read review

...I recently purchased the SMEG DF614 and wanted to share my experience with you. The main criteria for selection was:- - Brand Name - Reasonable Price - Energy efficient – A rating - Stainless steel finish – to match décor - That it washed dishes ok Since purchasing the product my experience was that the machine was very good, I found that it cleaned very well and was easy to empty and refill. I liked the temperature ranges, although the lower temperatures did not always produce the best results. It isn’t very noisy, although I do have it in the utility room. There are 9 programs for different types of washes. There is also quite a bit of room to fit everything in. The stainless steel colour is nice and the exterior was very easy to clean. The one main fault with my machine was that it was not able to cope with tablets... Read review

...I have been looking around for a new fridge for my relatively small kitchen. The problem I had was that there is not much workspace so I wanted a larder fridge instead of a fridgefreezer so that I could put my microwave on top of it. However, I didn't want a basic one oh no I wanted the 50's retro style like the Bosch or SMEG. On searching round our local stores to my horror I found that Bosch and SMEG were charging anything from £1,000 to £1,500 for the type of fridge I wanted. At the weekend we had another look in Comet and found a new range that I hadn't seen before called Scandinova. It is perfect, it is a silver finish larder fridge but it is substantially bigger than the standard fridge, it has four bottle holding wires inside, six compartments in the door, a veg tray, three storage boxes and three more glass shelves. ...Smeg FAB28PS6 I do not own this fridge myself, but we have got one at work and my god, it is amazing! Where I work we have a pretty posh kitchen and the Smeg fridge just completely finishes off the look. It is absolutely gorgeous, which, lets face it is the main reason anyone would buy one. The space in the fridge is great too, it is nice to have a big space to put everything, it is great for drinks, great for sticking in shopping bags, infact, great for everything! The handle is ergonomic and makes you feel confident you have closed it, the seal on the fridge is lovely too, strange thing to say but it just feels really sturdy. Despite all this the best thing about it is its looks, it gets ums and arrs every day and I have not got sick of looking at it. It feels like a bit of artwork in the kitchen.
