I HAVE HUGE FEET YOU WILL DEFY THE MOCKERY
Review of Burton Floater by
Kirsthun
Advantages: See Review
Disadvantages: See Review
...this snowboard is quite impressive. Let me tell you why in just a second.
First off, the Burton Floater is especially designed for people with bigger or wider feet than other people have. I happen to have wide feet so I decided to give this board a try.
Features
-Prevents you from the dreaded toe drag. This is what happens when your feet or boot part of the snowboard get cault in the snow and could make difficulty turning or possibly falling over.
-It can easily slide through the deeper snow/powder either one is an exception indeed for the Burton Floater.
-Still remains very flexible and functional.
-Made especially for longer/wider feet.
-Makes cruising the sloaps easier, while avoiding falling over.
-Stopping still remains very simple.
Drawbacks
All snowboards have drawbacks, and this one does also.
-The Width of the board can make...

excellent for snowboarding
Review of Fujifilm Nexia Q1 APS by
tottenham123
Advantages: simple, easy to use, small and light
Disadvantages: its no digital camera
...I brought this camera for a recent snowboarding trip, I didn't want to take a digital camera in case I dropped it in the snow, so I brought this relatively cheap APS camera.
this camera is very simple to use and has some nice features. the on button is a slide switch, so when the camera is turned off it covers the lens and disables the shutter button. this basically means you cant take any pictures when the camera is in your pocket and you wont have a scratched screen either.
when I was on my snowboarding trip I used ISO 400 films and I got some really excellent shots, they were clean, crisp and was no blurring, even when we were carving and spraying snow into the air.
if anyone is going snowboarding and doesn't want to take their expensive digital camera then I would recommend this camera. I got it from boots for £39.99 but you can...

Snow in England
Review of Sheffield Ski Village by
Kuli2
Advantages: I cant fault them
Disadvantages: It is a bit far out and up a massive steep hill
...and after I had paid the reasonalbe price they pointed out where to go to get my ski's/snowboard and my boots. The hire of the ski/snowboard and boots is all incorporated in with the price that you pay on the door.
After a great time skiing there was a great cafe and bar where a variety of drinks and snacks could be bought.
There was even a shop which sold all kinds of ski and snowboard equipment so if you want you could buy all your own equipment before you go again.
The ski instructers are all very helpful and they give you top tips in skiing. A wide range of insturcter cater for the beginner to the near olyimpic competetor. The slope is great and anyone can go. The staff are very friendly and helpful and if you need some tips or advice you can just ask them and are too ready to help.
The entire place is great!...

Not your average boot
Review of Burton Moto by
joe_edd
Advantages: Comfort, speed lacing, nice design
Disadvantages: None
...These are the first snowboarding boots I have bought. I purchased them on the 06/01/07. I paid £120, but lucky I had a £30 voucher so got them cheaper. Purchased them from snow and rock, one of the UKs leading out door specialists.
These boots offer a lot of comfort, they have too. You are in them for about 7-8 hours a day when you go snowboarding. Burton technology has changed a lot; they have on most of them "speadzone lacing". Instead of having laces, you have two pulls, the idea is when they boots start to loose up, you just give these a pull and they tighten the boots for you. They work really well. One is for the bottom, over the toes, and the other is for the top around the ankle area.
These boots are designed for beginners as they have a soft flex. This means they are softer, the higher the flex the more responsive they are...

BIG AIR....
Review of Sheffield Ski Village by
punkboii
Advantages: Instuctors, beginner to advanced, hire inc. bar shop
Disadvantages: Dendex, v painful
...Having always wanted to go snowboarding i thought i would dive at the chance when i moved into my university accomodation. So i went along joined the snowboarding club at SHU union.
we all paid up (£7/lesson) i think other occasions it may be as much as £21/lesson/hour! - personally i think this is very expensive.
however if you do live in the Sheffield area and you would like to learn snowboarding (rather than the one off lesson) they do accept jobs in the boot-room - 6hours/week and you get free lessons and and lift-pass - which is worth more than the wage you could get if snowboard/ski alot!
But back to the Ski Village. On arrival you are greated by a small car park that looks like something from the wild west, but beyond that is the view of Sheffield (which can only be apreciated at night - due to all the polution and smog...

Lets Ride
Review of Ride Orion by
TopCat_MO
Advantages: Support, Comfort, Looks
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...As a skiier who has caught the snowboarding bug, I knew that if I bought anything before i went away to Italy it would be boots, as my experiences of hire shops have been less than successful (I have size 13 feet).
After reading various articles in magazines I went shopping with an open mind and tried a variety of boots from different makes, as fit, not the name, was my number 1 goal.
The Orion boots at first had a tight fit, but i was told that they would pad out after riding (they did). The support whilst riding was exellent, they had a firm flex and there was hardly any heel lift, due to a good lace up liner which anchored into the boot very well. The boot was very comfy, once again down to the boots great liner and outer construction. The outer boot was very warm and waterproof, even in deep powder. On a final note, the boots also...

THE GAME TRUELY GETS YOU AMPED!
Review of Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding (Xbox) by
gudheart
Advantages: READ OPINON :)
Disadvantages: READ OPINON :)
...The snowboarding genre is kind of an old one now.. original extreme sport games like Coolboarders, 1080 really brough extreme sports to the table, bringing oportunaties for games like Tony Hawk and Dave Mirra. However the snowboarding genre really hit our hearts when games like SSX was released, inventing the enjoyment of fantasy snowboarding. Remember Games like Pro Boarder for the PS1 that was a great fresh attempt for the console generation.
With such games like SSX franchises topping the PS2 console chart for the extreme sports genre, we can't help but expect more of the same insane air, fun-nutty tricks, and all-out wacky characters in their snowboarding game...Then we got Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding, how can people not be excited for a fresh new snowboarding game other than the great SSX, i was definately excited..for one its...

First time boarding in Andorra
Review of Soldeu El Tartar (Andorra) by
robachamings1
Advantages: Cheap, excellent snowboard school
Disadvantages: Transport
...After planning to go snowboarding with my best friend for 4 years, we got our act together and booked to go this January. It had to be cheap, and we were absolute beginner boarders. Both competent skiers mind.
Getting there. We home at 3 in the morning to get a 7.30 flight out of gatwick to toulouse, followed by a 3 hour bus journey up to the tiny village of soldeu in Andorra - El tarter is the next village over on Andorras only road.
We arrived at our hotel at around 2 in the afternoon, unpacked, and then reached the first and only major problem of the holiday. The only public transport is buses, and they are infrequent, and manned by drivers with little English. Still, we eventually found one and got down to the kit shop in the village (two kilometers away) to hire our boots and boards.
The next 5 days passed in no time...

indoor skiing/snowboarding in the best place going
Review of Alpincenter Bottrop, indoor ski slope, Dortmund, Germany. by
pickle79
Advantages: sort of real snow and two excellent slopes
Disadvantages: none, well cold....
...hire items, for boots you need to go to the far right hand side of the main hall (just past the shop). This is where you will need your token and I suggest that you learn your shoe size in German as it is easier for the staff, when you are asking for your boots they will ask for you token and all you do is hand that over. If you need a snowboard then you join the next queue to your left and if you need ski's it's the next queue to the left from the snowboards. For clothing, if you turn around so the hire areas are behind you then you have a clothing hire shop just to the right of the locker room entrance. You will need to ask for clothing hire though when you pay at the tills.
Now the locker room (as I said is next to the clothing hire) go straight down the corridor and choose whichever locker you want, make sure they is a key in the door...

Your feet will love you!
Review of Rossignol Soft Light Boots by
Gurtie
Advantages: You can wear them all day without crippling yourself
Disadvantages: Not for 'high end technical' stuff.
...for the next 15 minutes!
I wouldn't recommend learning in these because you probably do need that extra control to learn to turn and to hold it together when you're tired. You also can't do anything too demanding in them - that 'can't quite hold my edge' feeling is there a lot earlier on the demanding runs and corrections can be hard work.
But after all if you're honest with yourself do you actually 'ski to the limit' anyway? I spend my time on nice reds and some blacks (avoiding too many bumps) with lots of stops for beer - my off piste is limited to things I can see from the chairlift and my only really tight turns are executed when I'm avoiding marauding snowboarders and those irritatingly good 5 year old children. If that sounds like you then these are the perfect boots without a doubt.
I'm so enthusiastic about my lovely boots that last...
