...Speed Devils is fun and offers a lot of enjoyment. All the elements are in place for a good , quirky racer,OTT charactres cool cars, nitro boosting and some lovely looking courses... But there are problems and to be fair one that most racers have in common, that is lastability. The challenges offered are paced well but never look like holding you back for long and with practice you will soon be out in front cruising to another easy win. Not a bad game by any stretch, but the limited number of courses and sometimes lack of computer opponents hold this game back.... Read review

Advantages: great fun

...Speed Devils has a lot of aspects that make it seem like a sillier, cartoony sort of racer, but it still keeps up in the gameplay area, with impressive terrain simulations and superb environmental mods such as weather. The gameplay is obviously not as good as Gran Turismo, but it's just as fun. One aggravating aspect of the game is the fact that cars have 3 documented statistics, Acceleration, Speed, and Braking. While handling seems to scale somewhat with braking, i find it a mystery. The place where Speed Devils really shines is the simulation of weather affects, such as rain and varying degrees of snowy roads. The addition of night driving was interesting when coupled with car damage. This makes it quite a task to keep your headlights not broken when driving at night in snow. The personality of the different racers is a nice touch... Read review

...Ridge Racer 5 Developer: Namco Publisher: SCEE HISTORY: Ridge Racer started life as a launch title on the original playstation. People where immediately shocked by its speed and graphics, which had never been seen before, except on its rival machine in the shape of Sega Rally, for the Sega Saturn. These two were the companies killer applications, which were used to attract potentional buyers in the hardware race and of course you know that it was Sony that came out on top (mainly due a massive advertising campaign). Each addition to the franchise gave welcome additions for fans although when Ridge Racer Type 4 appeared it blew fans away with its superb graphics and much improved game structure. It's this sci-fi chariot-style race that's captured here, with those 600mph speeds recreated so well you'll feel yourself leaning back in the chair as your pod racer blasts from the starting line. Cleverly building on the race concept, the game expands it to include over 20 different kinds of vehicle, with eight different worlds to race over. ...The game is not one of the best racers out there, however, it does have some interesting features such as the high speed racing and of course, it's Star Wars! The campaign starts out slow and takes a while to get interesting. Racer doesn't really begin in earnest until you've trudged through the granny-driven Amateur Pod Racing Circuit and gotten about halfway into the Semi-Pro Circuit. Only then will the most interesting parts of the game start to emerge: the strategic choices between different pods, the tactical considerations of when to use your Boost, and the jostling and banging about with the muttering, shrieking alien drivers (actually quite funny). It's Racer's multiplayer game that leaves more to be desired. There's no Internet support for multiplayer games, and even on a LAN, there are no computer-controlled racers. This might... Read review

...If you want a motorcycle that can be comfortable to tour on, yet can also be ridden like a racer, then look no further. My CBR600 out handles any other machine that I’ve ridden, from the ZX6-r's to the GSX-r's in the same class. Nothing wants to corner like the CBR, and A superb engine delivers plenty of low down torque that is consistant all the way to its 13500 rpm redline. The handlebars are not as low as on out and out racers, so there is less wrist strain at low speeds, and the seat is more of a luxury item than your standard plank of wood with a slight covering of cloth! Bridgestone BT56 Tyres on the front and a BT57 on the rear - or even the new OWO1's would defiantly be the combination to go for.... Read review

Advantages: Soundtrack is one of the best yet, tracks are superb

...Ridge Racer 4 is high speed full-on pumping, kicking, racing action from start to finish. The soundtrack, once again, is superb, you wonder how you managed to pick up such a bargain, and this game sells for a tenner new in some shops, the soundtrack is worth that alone! Playability has been extended by the option of being able to collect over 300 cars to store in you garage a la Gran Turismo, but all 300 still have more or less the same type of control, drift or grip, and so this option wears thin after a while. The other problem here is that it is so hard to work out how to access this feature, the instructions bundled with the game were not as full as they should have been. Overall, a must buy for your racing collection, and a classic on the Playstation for any collector.... Read review

Advantages: NOSTALGIC RACER, CLEAN GRAPHICS..
Disadvantages: REPETITIVE AND SHORT, DOESNT SEEM FAST.

...because theres only fifteen tracks, races themselves rarely take more than a few goes, even the wide selection of cars(over 100), it doesnt add a great deal of depth, replay value or any oter qualities. MILEAGE IS POOR ...Theres never a feeling of having to recover lost ground, or having a rival to get back at, leading to lack of excitement that makes OUTRUN2 and BURNOUT leaders in this field......the speed is also an issue, not untill later in the game, that you actually start to trouble the nonometer, which is a shame for an arcade racer? GRAPHICS AND SOUND!! ... The graphics are something i have come to expect with the 360, clean and shiny with a good sense of scale, this game has it , its the course design that lets it down....the sound is average at best, with annoying references while you race like OOPS and IM GLAD ITS ONLY A GAME... Disadvantages: No free roam, no neons, no police chases.

...oh so long i have waited for a driving game where you can damage your car! EA you have revived my love of driving games! Loved it! as a driving game fanatic i really did love this game, ok you cant free roam anymore, there are no police and you cant install neons on your car which initially did frustrate me but as a game addict i decided to give it a chance and boy did it pay off! The game is different to Need For Speed Underground 1+2 and even Carbon but is that a bad thing? It flaunts legal street racing on traditional style racing tracks The game sees you playing as Ryan Cooper an ex bad boy street racer enter the professional racing strip, competing in race days which are comprised of different racing types.
