Very friendly and helpful
Review of Virgin Express by
ndgandy
Advantages: friendly staff, cheap prices
Disadvantages:
...Last summer I flew with Virgin Sun from Gatwick to Fuerteventura for £145. Having not known anyone who had flown with them before I was not sure what to expect. From the moment I checked in to the time I arrived at the airport, the Virgin staff were excellent. They were courteous, friendly and helpful. On board, all members of the crew were happy and sometimes cracking jokes over the tannoy.
If I have the chance again to fly with Virgin Sun I will definitely go, even if I had to pay slightly more than another airline....

Should be called Hoverslow!
Review of Hoverspeed by
tazzii
Advantages: Can be cheap. OK if you like the sea.
Disadvantages: Lateness, no information, dirty customer areas
...Having done a day trip from Dover to Ostend I have to say that the service at Dover is awful. Hundreds of people waiting in the departure lounge and being told nothing about delays. Tannoy announcements that are so quiet as to be useless. Not enough buses to take the crowds out to the Seacat causing further delay. Dirty Seacat and filthy seats and toilets. Lack of staff to answer queries both on shore and on board. Poor signposting at Ostend. Huge delays at immigration due to not enough staff to cope with the crowds. Complete waste of money. Use the tunnel!...

Tannoy Mercury m3 floorstanders
Review of Tannoy M3 by
iangrant
Advantages: Deep bass, weighty sound. Relatively cheap.
Disadvantages: Actually discontinued (seek out newer mx3s), treble and detail can sound a little less exciting compared to other speakers.
...Although these speakers have now been replaced by the newer mx3s (which are similar, but have been tweaked a little over these m3s), they are the speakers I currently own, so I thought I'd review them (since no-one else has and there's not even a Tannoy category! (shame on you, Ciao!)).
I bought these speakers just over a year ago, to go with an Arcam Alpha One amp. I listened to some other speakers as well, such as the Q35s from KEF (I think) and the Mission 733e, and also Acoustic Energy AE120SEs, but since the latter are normally £600, we'll leave them out of the discussion.
The m3s are nice enough looking floorstanders, with isolation spikes and bass reflex ports. They are a two way design (1 tweeter and 1 mid/bass driver) with single inputs (i.e. not bi-wireable).
Basically, I settled on these because of the price (£230, the Q35s...

I love my Tannoy's
Review of Tannoy Reveal by
chongster
Advantages: Very clear, very crisp
Disadvantages: slight lack of bottom end! Tho I wouldnt frett.
...Finally ! After 2 years i've got my small home studio together. Why so long? laziness and a sheer huge ammount of university work to do, that's why.
Im Welsh but you could forgive me for being Scottish by my meaness when it comes to forking out for equipment (only joking, no offence to any Scottish, just mirroring an urban myth of being tight with the cash heh.)
The Tannoy Reveal Actives come in at around £359. Believe me I've been to every single site to find the cheapest price and they all more or less (+-10%) fizzle off at that price. I was told about these monitors a while ago and that if I wanted to use them for dance music that I should think twice! Whoever that was, they got it wrong. These babys boom loud let me tell you. I was amazed by the clarity of the sound. They handled the roughest, most dirty basslines I could throw...

Matrix Revolutions -Movie
Review of Matrix Revolutions, The by
tom321
Advantages: The special effects that have never been seen before.
Disadvantages: The story could of been a bit better.
...The matrix revolutions movie was a very well made movie and the Special Effects are outstanding. The movie is the final chapter to the Matrix trilogy and stars Keanu Reeves as Neo. If you are thinking on buying The Matrix Revolutions make sure you have seen The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded first, that way it will all fit together.
The movie is basically all about a war against machines; Neo must defeat the machines as they are in control of the Matrix.
As long as the machines are in control, the human race will be enslaved in the Matrix providing a source of power to the machines.
To stop this Neo has to go in to the heart of the machines where no other human has ever been, and defeat them saving the last human city “Zion” from destruction.
In doing this Neo then come face to face with a powerful program that tries to kill Neo so...

HOME CINEMA ON A BUDGET? TRY THESE.
Review of Tannoy FX 5.1 Home Cinema Speaker System by
iiyama1000
Advantages: Small,unobtrusive satellite speakers.
Disadvantages: Not as good as larger speakers.
...I brought my set of tannoys 15 months ago and, at the time, they cost £300.Now,with a little searching around, they can be obtained for under £200.
What you get in the box is five satellite speakers(two front, two rear and a centre speaker) plus a seperate powered subwoofer.
You also get wall mounted supports for the two front and two rear speakers and all the speaker cables(i changed the cables to 79 stand q.e.d. speaker cable to improve the sound).
Setting up the system is relatively easy:you just need an electric drill for the the wall mounted stands and once fitted, you just connect the cables to your home cinema amp. Easy!!
Once you have connected everything,it is time to try out the system. My first reaction and i am sure yours will be the same was one of complete disbelief!!
The sound quality for such small speakers...

Tannoy takes centre stage.
Review of Tannoy Mercury mXc-M Centre Speaker by
g8ina
Advantages: Great price Vs performance, compact, good sound.
Disadvantages: Very minor "boxiness" in mid range.
..., probably a bit of a hump at around 800Hz, if my gut feel is anything to go by (that and 22 years in the industry)......
The Tannoy MxC is a small, compact 3 way speaker unit, with two main drivers and a central tweeter. My model has a light Maple wood finish, but it comes in other colour schemes to suit your furnishings.
The speaker is intended to sit either on top of your TV, or, in my case, underneath it. It is a good idea to have the TV sit on top of the speaker if possible, as this will anchor the speaker cabinet solidly in place so the cones can move freely against the cabinet, and not cause any phase errors or other distorions. Its the same priciple as spike mounting the main speakers onto the floor (see my EVO3 review for more info).
The two main drivers are 130mm diameter placed either side of the single centre placed tweeter, which...

Review of White Ladder - David Gray by
zyper
Advantages: music as it should be
Disadvantages: n/a
...i first came across david gray in our local supermarket!!! a few months back when 'babylon' was being played over the tannoy speaker and fell in love with the melody first time. i then downloaded a few more of his songs through napster and fell in love even more.
this album has a full and rich content be it musically, lyrically, or innovatively.
from the moody and broody 'my oh my' (my favourite) to the rhythmic 'please forgive me' and 'babylon' the album oozes great craftsmanship and although i admit i do not know much about david gray's previous work and i believe there's aplenty i have certainly become a fan will be popping down the record shops for some more of the same.
pure top class stuff. enjoy...

Surround Sound
Review of Panasonic - Panasonic Home Theatre Sound System by
rjpickett
Advantages: Five disk mulitplayer, multi function DVD player, no londer any need for a hi fi, the size of a video
Disadvantages: With my video, digital cable tv box and DVD player I had to buy a new TV cabinet
...I recently purchased the Panasonic Home theatre System, with full surround sound and DVD player. It has a 5 disk multi changer, radio, tv, vcr and aux inputs. I comes with 5 quality speakers and sub woofer, which for their small size give an excellent sound quality. I have actually for the front stereo left and right bought two Tannoy floor mounted speakers. I must say it is like being at the cinema with full surround sound. Seeing and hearing this product is believing. I was convinced to buy this product when I watch the BMW scene in the car park from the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies. You see it at full volume and maximum bass, and you'll want the system....
