Taylor 310 Dreadnought Is Money Well Spent
Review of Taylor 310 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar by
mmosier
Advantages: Quality construction, great playability, reasonable price
Disadvantages: None
...The Taylor Guitar company touts its' Taylor 310 Dreadnought acoustic guitar as being the most affordable full size, solid wood guitar in the Taylor line. This instrument was constructed with the "no frills design" concept in mind--great sound, easy playability, and quality construction, for a reasonable price. After I "test drove" one of these guitars, I must say that the Taylor 310 Dreadnought acoustic guitar lives up to the hype.
This guitar is a six-string acoustic guitar that is a member of the Taylor 300 Series. The back and sides are sepele mahogany, the top is sitka spruce, and the neck is mahogany, with an ebony fretboard complete with pearl dot inlays. The nut and saddle are made of tusq, and the headstock overlay is Indian rosewood. The soundhole rosette is made of plastic, and the binding on the body is black plastic...

Taylor 810 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar
Review of Taylor 810 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar by
Carole2512
Advantages: Superior tone, easy to play
Disadvantages: Expensive
...I wish I was the proud possessor of a Taylor 810 guitar! The one I'm writing about belongs to a friend of mine, and he's very protective of it, will let very few people touch it (I appear to be one of the favoured few!)
The guitar itself is made of Indian rosewood back and sides, with a Sitka spruce top, with distinctive Taylor ebony bridge and scratchplate. The neck is tropical American mahogany, the fingerboard is also ebony. The soundhole is decorated with Abalone, however this is not excessive. Machine heads are gold plated for a touch of luxury.
As much care has been taken on the inside of this guitar as on the outside, and the finish is smooth, even on those hard-to-reach corners inside the guitar.
This particular guitar does not have a fitted pickup, however I use an ebony Mimesis acoustic pickup which is excellent...

Taylor Made Timeless Classics
Review of Greatest Hits Vol.1 - James Taylor (Popular) by
JonnyWigan
Advantages: Well crafted, unforgettable songs.
Disadvantages: Don't let your fashionable neighbour hear you listening to it!
...James Taylor started writing songs whilst at boarding school in New England during the early sixties, and even at such a tender age, his distinctive soft-toned North Carolina voice blended perfectly with a country inspired acoustic guitar technique. It was no surprise therefore, that on graduation, the young Taylor decided his future lay in a musical direction, and after spending a short and relatively unsuccessful stint with The Beatles’ Apple Records in London, he returned to the US and signed to Warner Brothers, launching a remarkable recording career that spanned from 1968 through to the present day.
Taylor’s style of music is folk with a strong country influence, and although it’s never been a fashionable type of music to listen to (he probably stands alongside Mark Knopfler in the ‘Telented But Fashionably Clueless World...

Taylor is Terrific
Review of October Road - James Taylor (Popular) by
uncleegbert
Advantages: Great CD, new tunes which are just as great as the old ones!
Disadvantages: A couple of more boring tracks slipped in there.
...Where to start......... I am a big fan. James Taylor's music is all great! Though there are obviously going to be better albums than others. The best by far is Sweet Baby James, so if you're looking for where to start, start there. However, this is a contender. Just because he's not in the hight of youth does not stop James from producing a great album which is even better (in my opinion) than the highly acclaimed "Hourglass", the previous album.
This album starts with the classic Jam"es Taylor fingerpicking technique and great songwrting of October Road" which has got to be the best song of the album. "September Grass" is not far off though the cover "Mean Old Man" is less of my cup of tea.
I'd say that this album ranks around fifth in my Taylor Collection. Preceed by "Sweet Baby James", "Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon", "JT...

Wake up and smell the coffee!
Review of Taylors of Harrogate Lazy Sunday Coffee by
Walkhappy5
Advantages: It is delicious
Disadvantages: It is delicious and you drink to much!
...Pregnancy killed my love of instant coffee. Not unusual I hear you say? Well no, except that I have never been able to enjoy it since. However, real coffee is fine. This does turn you into something of a coffee snob! A friend invited me around for coffee, and little did I know that I was about to discover a new love! She served “Lazy Sunday Coffee”, and I thought wow I have to buy this myself.
So what is it?
Lazy Sunday s is a blend of pure Arabic coffees from Africa and Central America that are medium roasted. The coffee blender, who made it, was attempting to mix a coffee that suited the way his Sundays were, very chilled out. He achieved this. Now if you are looking for coffee that will deliver a high caffeine kick, then this is not the one for you. But if you would like a mellow, smooth yet flavoursome coffee...

Top quality Taylor Made putter range
Review of Taylor made Nubbins Putters by
hocky
Advantages: Fantastic feel and a great roll
Disadvantages: None
...What makes any putter different from another? They are all used on the green to roll the ball into the hole aren't they? Well this range is a little different...
The Taylor Made Nubbins range of putters is very distinctive in looks. They have an orange rubber insert covering the clubface (where you hit the ball) that has little 'nubs' protruding from it (a bit like lego!!). The idea behind this is that when the putter strikes the golf ball, the ball is gripped by the nubs which are incredibly soft, stays on the putter face for longer than a normal putter and then makes the ball roll much quicker after impact. This action reduces any skidding that may normally occur and promotes a great feel and roll on the green thus producing a good putt.
Surprisingly the technology actually works!! These putters feel very soft and the roll of the ball...

Goodbye Peter Taylor
Review of Leicester City by
jbutty
Advantages: Hope to see an upturn in our fortunes!
Disadvantages: No quality replacement available
...So Peter Taylor failed in the impossible job of replacing Martin O'Neill and has now been sacked.
Most Leicester fans I have spoken to think it was the right decision but I am not so sure. Okay, he has made some dodgy buys (£5 million for Akinbyi!!) and we have only won 2 of our last 20 odd league games but are we really going to improve if we get Harry Redknapp? Maybe if we got George Graham who probably wouldn't come to Leicester but I cannot believe Redknapp is better than Taylor.
The long and the short of this season is we have been playing like a team with absolutely no confidence and also getting no luck whatsoever, Junior Lewis' sending of against Charlton for that "professional foul" was the straw that broke the camels back, Another of Taylors dodgy buys methinks! It doesn't sound as if he had lost the dressing room...

Cleopatra. The Special Edition
Review of Cleopatra (Special Edition) (Wide Screen) by
TarraWan
Advantages: Outstanding film with excellent Bonus Features
Disadvantages: None
...This film is mesmerising. It is intimate, dramatic and full of emotion and pathos.
When Elizabeth Taylor was asked to take the part of Cleopatra she said "yes, for one million dollars"; to everyones amazement, the studio agreed. The original film budget was only $2 million but by the time the film was finished in 1963 this had soared to $35 million. It is still the most expensive film ever made in real terms (when you take inflation correction into account).
Not withstanding the amazing historical story o | | |
