Little Purple Man
Review of 1999 - Prince by
loulou6
Advantages: It's Prince
Disadvantages: none what so ever!
...This was the album that shot Prince into the big time and into my heart all because of one of the century's most played songs ~ the excellent '1999', which is still as fresh as the day it was born.
This album is truly brilliant and showed the first real signs that Prince was going to become a megastar, the CD goes from the funky 'Delirious' to the sophisticated 'Something In The Water' and of course everybody knows 'Little Red Corvette.
'Lady Cab Driver' is one of his most gorgeous of songs, makes me go all weak at the knees, phew!
Prince shows a stunning display of raw talent in this album, not wallowing indulgence which he has been accused of doing. If you're listening to '1999' there is something about the 1980's that pops up every time, really experimental kind of funk and hip-hop.
But I reckon all of his songs are equally...

Have you ever kissed a Frog?
Review of Cadbury Freddo by
emmaclaire
Advantages: small, low amount of calories, yummy Cadbury's chocolate
Disadvantages: none
...“The Frog Prince was getting just a little bit tired of waiting around for a princess to come and kiss him and restore him to his former glory in all its manliness. So, one day, he decided to come up with a way to let all the lovely ladies of the world know that the Frog Prince was much more tempting than his size and appearance might have them believe. The result was the Freddo…”
Freddos can usually be found in either the 10p sweet section or by the tills in supermarkets. The genius behind this is so that even in his chocolate form, the Frog Prince can’t possibly be overlooked. In his wisdom, he even had a picture of himself put on the front of the purple packet, so each princess that buys one can be sure of recognising the Frog Prince, should she ever come across him.
If you open him up, the Freddo lets rip with the most...

THE GREAT LITTLE SHORT GUY
Review of Music Of Prince - Prince by
michellej
Advantages: HIGH OCTAVE RANGE
Disadvantages: NONE
...listening to the rest of it because that is about the most fastest track there is on the album.
‘When The Doves Cry’, and ‘Purple Rain’, are emotional songs for Prince back in those days. They’re both funky and upbeat, and although he’s a little short guy that you’d expect to have a teeny weenie voice, his varied octave range can make some of the songs quite electrifying.
The tracks are:
Let's Go Crazy
Take Me With U
The Beautiful Ones
Computer Blue
Darling Nikki
When Doves Cry
I Would Die 4 U
Baby I'm A Star .
Purple Rain...

Rainbow children, it's time to rise...
Review of Rainbow Children, The - Prince by
KTDouthwaite
Advantages: Well, it's by Prince, isn't it?!?!
Disadvantages: But it's not to everyone's taste...
..., this is a pretty jazzy offering, a little bit happy-clappy (but not too much), and it DOES deserve a try. If for nothing else, every Prince fan should listen to "Wedding Feast" at least once - quite possibly the strangest and laughable Prince track you will ever own. With lines like "you are what you eat, so we must eat a leaf", and the operatic bellowing "A feast, a feast, a smorgasboard at least!...", it will at least bring a smile to your face.
So overall, this is a worthwhile album given a chance, so long as you keep an open mind. And if nothing else, it's FAR better than New Power Soul......

The Crime, The Passion, The Rapture!
Review of The Scandalous Sex Suite - Prince by
eatingrich
Advantages: An interesting and varied jam on a great track. Cool B-Side too!
Disadvantages: It's basically just a jam with a couple of songs tacked on the end.
...soundtrack and as a huge Prince fan I love to hear how he can make such different and brilliant versions of an existing song.
However, it's obviously not going to be for everyone's tastes. At the end of the day a jam is still a jam, so if you like your songs nicely structured and less than five minutes long, I'd avoid this little set.
The song Scandalous itself is sparse in arrangement and features a fantastic vocal turn from Prince, who is busy enticing a lucky lady with come ons and sexy promises. It's officially co-written with his father but there is strong rumour that says he occasionally gave his father a writing credit to help him out economically. It's a very good song and one of the fans favourite Prince ballads, and it was a good choice to extend into a 20 minute slow jam.
The Crime has a sax playing the main melody of the song, while...

Frogs Will Be Frogs
Review of The Frog Prince, Continued - Jon Scieszka by
newby2
Advantages: a good story based around an old classic
Disadvantages: evil and sinister pictures
...and tries to get the frog prince to eat it. The frog prince however isn't stupid and realises at once what this particular witch is trying to pull off. So once again the frog prince scarpers.
Again a little more into the woods the frog prince stumbles upon another lady who maybe able to help him. For the third time he explains his predicament and asks this witch for her help. After some confusion about him being the king of France - I expect the frog thing confused her - the old witch invites the frog prince into her house and says that maybe she can fit him in for lunch. On entering the house however the frog prince felt that this house was somewhat familiar and after tasting a piece of the windowsill found himself realising that this particular witch was the one in the Hansel and Gretal fairytale. The Frog Prince knows a thing or two...

Niccolo Machiavelli
Review of Everything that starts with M ... by
tomhughes78
Advantages: Teaching leadership tactics for the absolute ruler
Disadvantages: Can be described as ruthless at best
...principality is likely to find it easier to hold power than in other forms of principality, as he simply has to look after the institutions founded by his ancestors to maintain the will of the people.
“I say, then, that in hereditary states, accustomed to their prince’s family, there are far fewer difficulties in maintaining one’s rule than in new principalities; because it is enough merely not to neglect the institutions founded by one’s ancestors and then to adapt policy to events.”
Machiavelli believes that the ease in which power can be held in a hereditary principality is due to a natural disposition from citizens towards their leader, stemming from the fact that leaders in such states have little need to “give offence” as Machiavelli puts it. As a result of the natural affection felt towards a hereditary prince by his subjects, in reality...

Learning from children.....
Review of The Little Prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupery by
hiker
Advantages: Charming, and full of insight
Disadvantages: You reach the end too quickly
...Antoine de Saint-Exupery was a pilot. He was also a child. He never lost the sense of wonder that accompanies being either of those.
A child, having failed to draw boa constrictors in a way the conveys the sheer horror of such creatures to an adult…submits to the real world and grows up. He becomes a pilot and, because “something broke” in his engine finds himself stranded in the Sahara, thousands of miles from anywhere.
“So you can imagine my surprise at sunrise when an odd little voice woke me up.
It said ‘Please….draw me a sheep’ ”
Thus our narrator meets the Little Prince. Even to tell you that the Prince comes from another planet, a very small planet, is to tell too much of the story. Any clues to what happens, what tales are told and how and why, would detract from the joy...
