...I nearly always make a visit to Trafalgar Square when I am in London.It is very central and most days thousands of people are there.In some respects it is a great nodal point and it is impressive and there is the statue of one of Britain's great heroes Admiral Nelson to gaze at. The square also attract thousands of pigeons and it is quite a nice pastime to sit and feed them crumbs from your sandwiches. A lot of foreign tourists congregate in Trafalgar Square and if you spend an hour or two there you will certainly see a wide cross section of humanity. Another nice thing is that you see all age groups in Trafalgar Square. Nearby are some fine attractions such as the National Portrait Gallery, St Martins in the Fields and you are only a stones throw away from Northumberland Avenue and Whitehall.... Read review

Advantages: not to be missed
Disadvantages: careful what you buy

...This is the place that we all remember from the graphic photographs and media coverage of not so long ago. I am sure we all the sight of the tank and the protestor. Well, if you prefer to hear the story from the horses mouth you will learn that the protestor we all thought had been crushed by the tank was in fact removed from the square in one piece. You will also learn that the protesting was not carried out on the square but on the roads leading to the square. What went on was bad but why did the media imply a somewhat different story? One thing I did not realise from the television pictures was how large the square really is. It is a huge place bustling with visitors. ...Clayton Square is definitely the place to go if you are taking a shop around Liverpool city centre, or are just browsing. Two main shops stand out to me in Clayton Square - JD Sports and Virgin Megastore. I quite regularly purchas eitems from both of these stores, whether it is a t-shirt or a CD, these two places are the best for me. Also the mobile phone market style thing at the bottom of the escalators is a treat, I have made many a purchase there. The Square also provides a nice shortcut from the main shops to the busstop which is great.... Read review

Advantages: Beautiful, centre of town
Disadvantages: Pidgeons. Tourists.

...Napoleon called it "the finest drawing room in Europe." A big square like those all throughout Europe, but a special one because its in Venice. No car noises nearby, just you and the square.. At dusk the square empties on weeknights as everyone goes home and it can be an eerie place (as its so quiet with no cars) when no one else is around, though of course as at a tourist attraction someone will always be nearby. Sit down for a coffee, a place where its well worth paying that little extra for a seat in the square (rather than inside the coffee shop) and watch all the other tourists pass by.. be careful which cafe you sit at because they each take turns in having musicians play and if you sit at the one that has the musicians working, you will pay a 5 euro charge per person - regardless of what you order. ...When I was younger I used to go to Eldon Square in the school holidays with my grandma and we would meet my sister and my nephews in Newcastle and go shopping. Therefore, for me Eldon Square has some happy memories as well as some great shops :) Eldon Square is an indoor shopping centre located in the heart of Newcastle and as I am now studying in Newcastle I have been here quite often recently. Eldon Square first opened in 1976 and serves a catchment area of 2.7 million people. There are a number of entrances but I usually enter at the one on Northumberland Street. This leads straight to the shops. It is lovely walking into Eldon Square on a cold day, as it is really warm (so especially good at this time of year!) The entrance on Northumberland Street is on a bit of an incline and it's the usual type of flooring in indoor shopping... Read review

...Trafalgar Square is full of London's history and some oddities. The Square was laid out in the 1840s to commemorate the great sea victory, and the centrepiece is Nelson's Column, on top of which the man himself gazes southwards towards the battle scene far away. (Hitler was so impressed, he had intended to move Nelson and the four lions to Berlin after the invasion of Britain). Other attractions include: the standard measure in the north part, where all the world's metric measurements are taken from; the smallest police station in the country, (a little box); the empty plinth, with a variety of monuments at time of writing; the fountains, the statues, and the lions, and of course the pigeons. ...I love square crisps and so when Walkers took over from Smiths and then launched "Beefy" flavour, the first new variety since the conception of the brand as far as I am aware, I was keen to get myself a packet to try. So I purchased a packet from my local newsagents for the sum of 30p for 30 grammes. The packet itself was a film type (ie not foil) and was brown in colour with Square written largely in white on the front. What about the crisps themselves I hear you ask? Are they are any good? Well square crisps in general are not like other crisps. They seem to be made of reconstituted potato rather than just chopped (presumably because of the shape) but I think that they taste all the better for it. The actual flavouring itself was very strong and so people who don't like beef would be well advised to stay away. I loved them though... Read review

...This recipe is ideal for lunches or snacks, can impress your guests at parties, tastes delicious and is so quick and easy to make. You will need the following; 1 pack of ready made puff pastry 1 pack of smoked bacon - 8 rashers (rind removed and cut into 16 pieces) 300g Extra mature Cheddar Cheese (Grated) Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Cut the pastry into 16 equal squares. Roll each square out on a lightly floured surface until the pastry square is approx 4" square. Place a generous amount of cheese diagonally along the centre of each pastry square, add 2 pieces of bacon to the top. Take 2 opposite corners of the pastry square and pull together and overlap, dab some water on the corners so they stick together and cook for approx 15 minutes until well risen and slightly browning. ...Walkers has always has the best tasting crisps, and these are no exception to this! By the time Walker’s crisps usually get to you in every pack there is usually at least one crisp that is either black (from being burnt) or green! But squares are an exception to this as they get to you in perfect condition no nasty black or green bits! But although they are called squares, I rarely find a square crisp! Most are usually curled up or broken off, but the curled over ones are my favourite, so I can’t complain about them! Walker’s Cheese and Onion squares are not too cheesy either unlike McVitie’s Mini Cheddars and they have just enough flavouring unlike the normal walkers cheese and onion crisps!
