Reviews of the sundays
Very informative Sunday finance.
Review of Financial Mail on Sunday by
wiseoldowl
Advantages: Light, easy reading, very informative, good share tips.
Disadvantages: none
...Although I do not rate the Mail On Sunday as the best overall Sunday newspaper, I buy it mainly for its excellent Finance supplement.
Very informative articles on a wide range of financial subjects, are complemented by reviews of the Stock Market in the past week, major share price movers, and tabulations of the next weeks list of companies reporting. The Midas column usually tips up to 4 companies each week. I have systematically logged the share tips of all the Sunday papers (listed on Teletext channel 4, each Sunday afternoon), and have concluded that the Midas tips are consistently amongst the best!
For the small investor, wanting to know what is going on, I find the easy reading style of the Finance supplement to be of great value. Even my offspring have developed an interest in investing on the stock market mainly through...

Great for midweeks but not much else!
Review of clickmusic.co.uk by
DaveRobinson
Advantages: Great for early charts
Disadvantages: Not much else
...The only reason I ever visit Clickmusic is to see the early midweek charts on a Thursday evening. It has the singles and albums charts updated every Thursday evening, whgich is earlier than other sources such as CD:UK on a saturday morning. Sometimes these are reliable and sometimes they're not, as they only account for sales from Sunday-Thursday, and the real charts on a Sunday account for a full week's sales, from the previous Sunday to Saturday. The site is not very good apart from this, and I find Dotmusic to be far better as its discussion forums in particular are great....

A tradition
Review of BBC2 - Sunday Grandstand by
BIGHORSE
Advantages: Good alternative coverage
Disadvantages: Losing some broadcasting rights
...Sunday Grandstand has a good history of content, and presenters and variability. It often offers some good alternative sports that many people are interested in watching, and get little chance to watch elsewhere. It is not suffering as much as some of the other BBC1 sport programmes from losing broadcasting rights but this sadly is still inevitably an issue. Sport coverage has been over all of my life a great strong point for the BBC but even Sunday Grandstand will come ot be affected in the end, and this will be another sad moment for the BBC....

Scotland first But Not Exclusively
Review of Sunday Post by
polydeuces
Advantages: Very readable tabloid
Disadvantages: Focussed on Scotland but that is the whole point
...The Sunday Post is published in Glasgow and is predominantly a paper for Scots people. The paper is available in England for exiled Scots or for anyone with more than a passing interest in matters north of the border.
Published in tabloid format The Sunday Post is a dynamic, lively newspaper. Its writing style is not dumbed down but nor is it haughty. It seems to know its market well and caters for it very successfully. It understandably has its main focus on news from Scotland but it does give coverage to matters in England and further afield. News from Northern England is well covered hinting that circulation extends into Cumbria and the North East. Whilst its focus is strongly Scottish this is not portrayed in a Nationalist anti-English view but rather in a real sense of pride.
As wells as the news the paper has a lively comic...

Sunday People
Review of Sunday People by
andrew1971
Advantages: Pull out sports section
Disadvantages: TV listing in magazine
...Not sure if it is a first for a newspaper, but a definite first in a tabloid newspaper. A pull out sports section. So the lady in the house can read the gossip (a lot in the Sunday People) and the male can read the sports section. ( or vice versa). There does seem to be a lot of gossip pages in the newspaper, although isn't that what Sunday papers are about?
The Sunday People also has an excellent section on gardening and animal welfare, for which the RSPCA have commended the paper for doing. Also included in the newspaper are the typical TV reviews written by Gary Bushell (love him or hate him) an Agony aunt page which I would put has being between News of the World and The Sunday Mirror.
Richard Bacon is the resident film critic. His reveiws seem to be more about his experience on a subject than the fim itself.
The free magazine...

Step 3 in global dominance
Review of War - U2 by
brownp1
Advantages: U2 with passion still intact
Disadvantages: A bit one dimensional at times
...By 1983 when this was released U2 had lost their initial rawness, still retained their sense of righteousness, and gained a pop sheen - hence this has to be seen as their breakthrough album which established them a global reputation for musical excellance and political hectoring.
The songs are dominated by Bono's voice, with solid support from Larry's drums (listen to the opening of Sunday Bloody Sunday for some highly original drumming) and the edges' guitar chops. Highlights are all the well known songs, the afore mentioned Sunday Bloody Sunday, breakthrough single New Years Day, plus other standards Seconds, Two Hearts beat as one and 40.
This is the last U2 album with the original sound, and despite all the progress made over the years this is still essential listening to understand where U2 are coming from...

whats wrong with Sundays
Review of Terrestrial TV - Terrestrial TV by
pixiejovo
Advantages: eastenders omnibus
Disadvantages: the rest of what they put on
...What is going on? Especially recently, Televsion on Sunday's is complete and utter crap!! Why is there nothing on? Don't they know that Sunday's are boring enough without having nothing to watch on television??? I have got to the point where I don't even switch on the TV on sundays because it's so appauling!! It may be OK if you're into watching songs of praise or the antiques roadshow, but for us youngsters its boring as hell. There are hardly any shops open either so we can't go shopping, plus we need money for this or for any sort of entertainment. This is probably one of the main reasons for crime and vandalism amoungst youths!!!!...

Great Chill out on Sundays
Review of The Spitz (London) by
johnnymarcus
Advantages: Great chill out, no entrance fee
Disadvantages: None that I can put my finger on
...The spitz stituated in the perimeter building, of spitalfields market, 5 mins walk from Liverpool Street station. Go to the top floor of Spitz on a sunday and you can chill from 2pm till 11pm, its very relaxing way to spend a sunday afternoon with mates. The room is lit with many different dim coloured lights, and gentle drifing music this is an ideal way to wind down sipping a cool beer. The atmostphere is amazing and you feel as if you are in a different world. The people are as realaxed as the atmostphere and are very friendly as are the staff.
This is an ideal way to spend the rest of the day after having done a spot of shopping at spitalfields market.
A must if you want to relax and wind down on a sunday...

No Post on Sundays
Review of Sunday Post by
bigkenny
Advantages: Oor Wullie and The Broons
Disadvantages: Everything other than Oor Wullie and The Broons
...In my house we do not get Post on a Sunday and quite frankly this includes the Sunday Post. It might be as Scottish as Haggis but so is Jimmy Somerville and no one can claim that he is any good.
To be honest there are a couple of things I like about the Sunday Post....Oor Wullie and The Broons. Yup two comic strips that are more news worthy than the rest of the paper. What else would you expect from D.C. Thomson the publishers of such high brow material as the Beano and the Dandy?
I was once told that the Sunday Post officially had the highest circulation in the world per head of population. I was also told by the same person that the paper also had (officially they insisted but as to who these officials were they could not say) the least amount of news per page than any other newspaper in the world.
I do not know if the above...

help gimme advice
Review of Sunday Surgery (Radio 1) by
JoeDaunt
Advantages: gives you advice on anything you need to know!
Disadvantages: none
...I find the Sunday Surgery is really helpful if you have any problems you would like to discuss or if something is bothering you whatever it is.
If you don't already know, the Sunday Surgery is a show on Radio one from 9-11 every Sunday evening, where people ring in and discuss their problems over the phone live on air.
There is music and jokes also on the show, but the main aim is to help people who need help whether about love, family life or whatever it may be. Also if you don't feel like talking live on air you can call the offair number or send them an email, and I have found it very helpful so don't be shy to ring as they are very understanding on the other end!
I would really recommend you listen to the show on Sunday evening-remember 9-11 pm as you may find something that has been bothing you is brought up on the show...
