Reviews of the train ride
a long delay- bikes on trains
Review of Wales & West Railway by
fedamunta
Advantages: not much - just that the conductor was helpful
Disadvantages: do i have to say anything
...i myself am not a regular train traveller, but i thought that by now the railway network may have sorted out its problems, so because fo this me and my friedns decided to catch the train and take our bicycles on a trip to paignton and then ride to blackpool sands.
we arrived at taunton train station, only to our disbelief to find that we would have to be charged £3 EACH WAY to take our bikes onto the train, this caused much anger in the eyes of my friends and I. we are told to go green and ride places, we try and do this but get charged. the person behind the till tehn rectified the situation and we were not charged when boarding the train.in my view the next hassle was gettign the bikes on tho the trian and into the train compartment, we had to lift 3 bikes into the carriage and then secure them into bike holders that are not suitable...

Pleasure in large Measures!
Review of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool by
jayandfoo
Advantages: Wide range of rides, suits all of the family
Disadvantages: Tickets can be pricy, long queues
...for this ride.
Ghost Train - One my firm favourites! I hate the dark but as long as I am accompanied by a responsible adult (Jay!), I can just about manage this ride.
A typical Ghost Train complete with spooky goings on, loud noises, skeletons popping out and a small, unexpected dip. Apparently, this ride really IS haunted by an old worker nickname 'Cloggy'. The Ghost Train was featured on an episode of Living TV's Most Haunted.
There is no height restriction for this ride. 4 tickets or a wristband are required.
Gold Mine - My favourite ride and the first ride I went on many moons ago. On this undercover ride, you can jjourney back in time to the old west and the gold rush era on a 'Train'. This ride has only slight dips.
This attraction is undercover.
There is no height restriction. 4 Tickets or a wristband is required.

Drayton Manor Park
Review of Drayton Manor Park by
DaveRobinson
Advantages: Great selection of rides for all ages
Disadvantages: Bad catering facilities
..., and there are loads of interesting facts about the RNLI, who sponsor the ride.
The haunting is another great ride, I won't spoil it but all I can say is it's different to your usual haunted house/ghost train experience!
The catering in the park is poor, as there are no proper chains such as McDonald's or KFC, as in some other parks such as Alton Towers.
Overall, there is an excellent selection of rides for all ages, and the park has been heavily invested inover the past few years, and more investment will no doubt happen in coming years. This is definately a great park, and one to watch in the coming years as it doesn't have the awkward planning rules that Alton Towers and many other parks have so it can build higher, more advanced rides!...

Shake, rattle and tilt
Review of Virgin Pendolino by
DCWS
Advantages: Faster than before
Disadvantages: Everything else
...In common with other reviewers, I find the Pendolino trains a real disappointment - they are cramped, the ride is truly terrible, the interior trim rattles and shakes for the whole journey, and the windows are way too small. I also hate the fact that many seats have no outside view - ridiculous! Everyone on a plane gets one.
Of these, the most significant disadvantage is the lack of headroom, which probably results from the need to tilt. It's more like a small plane than a train. Everyone therefore sits extremely close to each other.
I would swap one of these tacky trains for a proper loco and Mark 3 carriages any day. Or a genuine Italian Pendolino. The person responsible for procuring the Virgin trains should be ashamed of himself. Back to the drawing board......

One bad train ride
Review of Virgin Trains by
Samurai_Sam
Advantages: Clean and Comfortable
Disadvantages: Poor service, poor transfers, poor timing.
...I knew that train delays were common through out the UK but a delay of altogether adding up to 5 hours is a pain in the behind.
The train journey began during my Easter holiday 2005, my English Literature teachers (Miss Pye and Miss Quick) had planned a trip to Manchester to go and see Antony and Cleopatra at the Royal Exchange Theatre. We left Newton Abbot trainstation on time and there were no delays on the way up.
But on the way back the train we were suppose to catch back in Manchester was 30minutes late meaning we missed our transfer train and had to wait an hour for the next one. When we arrived in Birmingham we had to wait nearly 3/4 of an hour before our train to Bristol arrived and then that train was delayed but another half an hour. So we missed our train head directly to Newton Abbot from Bristol. Bristol was the real pain...

Blackpool Pleasure Beach Awesome
Review of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool by
CleverBzz
Advantages: AWESOME Rides
Disadvantages: Q's And Cost
...Blackpool Pleasure Beach
=
What Is IT?
Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a theme park with some of the UK’s best rides. These rides are all worth going on and the park is a place where you could stay for days as at the present time it has over 125 rides and attractions so there is something for everyone.
History of Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Olden Era
Blackpool pleasure beach was bought and founded in 1896 by Alderman William George Bean. Some of the first rides are still operation like the maxim flying machines. The park mainly started to grow and develop and have future prospects when world war one ended. During this time the amount of rides increased, new rides were introduced, e.g. Rollercoaster. World War Two put a halt on the pleasure beaches progress but was used...

Universal Studios Japan - USJ
Review of Universal Studios Japan, Osaka by
worm1976
Advantages: Fun, Well put together
Disadvantages: Expensive
...On arrival in Osaka any Japanese person will ask you Have you Been to USJ? Seems to be the most recommended place in town.
USJ was opened in 2001and is in the citys west waterfront district. Prices Adult 5500yen, child 3700yen, senior (over 65) 4800yen. Opening hours vary depending on the season., so check with the park (or tourist information) before you go, but they are pretty standard theme park hours.
A great (and tame) ride is the ET ride, amazingly put together, you walk through ETs forest before getting on a bike and "flying". THey ask for your name when you enter, dont be upset if they get it wrong, my brother David went through as Deborah and my friend Tracey went as Tara! I wont tell you why they ask for your name (it spoils it!) but keep an ear out at the end of the ride!
The Jurassic Park ride is great, also amazingly...

Beware of the trains
Review of Prague (Czech Republic) by
dhjnr
Advantages: Experience
Disadvantages: Having no money when I arrived in Krakow
...that when the train turned up at 11.30pm that there was no chairs.
The conductor stung us for 100 deutchmarks, (about £10 each for the 3 of us), to let us ride on his train, but at least we got a couchette and a good nights sleep.
Pleas beware if you visit and book a train out from an agency....

Intercity at it's best
Review of First Great Western by
seanjkeating
Advantages: Fast, reliable, very comfortable, frequent.
Disadvantages: Local trains get in the way too often
...First Great Western run a service on a route that shares all of it's tracks with stopping trains. This causes quite a few delays and has resulted in FGW getting alot of flak over the past few years.
Regardless of the delays, FGW always put customer service first and are excellent at informing it's passengers of what is happening. Once on a trip to Cardiff our train was delayed for about an hour. We were given updates every ten minutes, and were offered complimentery food and drink for the delay. There have been other incidents where the same level of service has been applied, FGW truly excel in excellence when it comes to their customers.
The trains are very comfortable, mostly formed of the legendery 125mph High Speed Trains. These are still running well after 30 years and still provide a more comfortable and smooth ride than most...
