Great all round ZV3 tyre
Review of Avon ZV3 by
lyndsayw
Advantages: Grip
Disadvantages: I can't find any
...Once again I have been asked by my partner to right a review so I thought I'd try something I use on a daily basis and make me think about the review in detail.
I have used Avon tyres on fords for the last 3 years I have previously used Pirelli, Michelin and Goodyear (though not all on the same car).
On the car in question that I am using for the purpose of this review is a 1998 2.0 16v Ford Mondeo, I have used Pirelli's 195/60 R15 88H P6000 tyre and Avon's ZV3 195/60 R15 88H ZV3 tyre.
I'm going to explain the basics about tyres; every type of tyre from each manufacture is different because they use different rubber compounds and methods to create the tyre. Soft compounds will wear fast but provide excellent grip where as a hard compound will do the opposite and wear slow and have less grip. Manufactures create tyres of varying levels...

Toyo 350 for small cars
Review of Toyo Tyres by
andyyaris
Advantages: Reasonable price, great grip
Disadvantages: None
...I own a Toyota Yaris and needed new front tyres. Not knowing a huge amount about car tyres apart from they're the only thing holding the car on to the road i want to get something decent. My local idependant tyre fitters reccomended me Toyo 350. They were roughly the same price as the rest of the branded tyres and decied to give them a go.
I tend to drive a lot on small country roads frequently covered in puddles, mud, leaves ect. The level of grip they offer is very good, i have noticed a positive difference in the levels of grip when breaking and cornering when the conditions are not great. This is in comparison to the Dunlop tyres i had previously.
The road noise seems low and dispite the extra grip they seem to offer there has been no reduction in my fuel economy. After 5000 miles they seem to be in good condition with plenty...

The michelin S12 starcross. Motocross tyre
Review of Michelin Tyres by
pug508
Advantages: One of the best Motocross tyres you can buy.
Disadvantages: The high price!
...The michelin are a well known tyre brand in the motocycle backround. Although they come with a heafty price tag you cant really skimp on a quality tyre, after all on a motorbike you've only got the conatct surface of a human foot on the ground,so a quality tyre can help. A back tyre will set you back around £50. Depending on the surface that you use it on the tyre will generally last a few months of riding. If you feel the tyre when its on the bike its quite soft yet it does the job well.
You can see why most of the top riders use this tyre, the pattern is unique.as the name donates it in the shape of a star, providing bloody good grip.
I put the tyre on myself although i wouldn't reccomend it, got a few cuts and bruises to show for it, After that i found i pinched the inner tube TWICE, so i gave in and took it to tyre fitter...

A tyre fo all seasons
Review of Panaracer Fire XC Pro Folding Tyre by
Greasylake
Advantages: Grip well in all conditions, durable, roll well
Disadvantages: None I can think of
...I live and ride in South Wales. The man made trais around Afan Argoed and Glyncorrwg, plus all the natural stuff in between, is where you'll most likely find me on my bike. It's wet down here in Wales, but thankfully, there's not much clay, so that really sticky mud you get in some parts of the country isn't too much of a problem down here. I'd experimented with many different types of tyre, before stumbling across these. I'd been riding Tioga 1.9's and going to the Panaracer 2.1's was a breath of fresh air. The increased grip, especially on the front, was amazing, and the rear tyre gripped like a mountain goat. Just make sure you put them on the right way around (follow the arrows on the side wall).
As a tyre that can be used all year round, these are hard to beat. They grip well on the rocky bits, dig in on muddy climbs, and cope...

tioga factory DH 2.3 for trials
Review of Tioga Factory DH Kevlar by
cunningham23
Advantages: grippy, hardwearing, puncture resistant
Disadvantages: not so grippy on smooth roads
...I rode trials for almost two year on a single pair of Tioga 2.3 DH tyres and found them to be excellent in almost all conditions. I also rode dirt jumps and the occasional skate park over this period and the only trouble I had with these tyres was that when riding on the road, especially when wet, the wheels had a tendency to spin if the back wheel was unweighted at all. Also due to the huge amount of grip the tyres give they also generate a fair bit of resistance on smooth surfaces, this is not really a criticism as it is the sign of a tyre that will grip well when needed but it does sounds a bit like a swarm of bees chasing you at times. Over the time I rode this tyres I had very few punctures and absolutely no problem with gripping in off road conditions, especially when cornering. As these tyres are very large they also provide...

Yokohama Parada Spec 2 215/40/17
Review of Yokohama Parada Asymmetric by
elude
Advantages: Grippy in the dry and not as fast wearing as others
Disadvantages: Not the safest in the wet, stick with Toyo, Michelin or Eagle F1s
...I have these tyres on my 17" track wheels and have found myself with quite a mixed view of them.
In the dry they are fantastic, they have excellent grip, and the compound is not too soft, thus ensuring a good wear rate for daily driving
However in the wet they are absolutely shocking. The tyres I have fitted are 215 40 17 so aren't lacking in contact area. I drive a Ford Focus which is lowered on coilovers to the tune of -50mm. Even with the drop in ride height they severely struggle for grip in the wet, anything more than a gentle bend at more than 40mph and you are in trouble with these tyres
In conclusion, great dry tyres that don't wear perhaps as quick as the Toyo Proxes T1R, but you are sacrificing a lot of wet weather grip in my experience...

High performance good quality tyres
Review of Michelin Hot S by
spaced
Advantages: Light weight, durable well made tyres
Disadvantages: A little pricey
...After finding a set of these on Ebay for half the RRP, I patiently waited for them to arrive, and I was eager to see just how good these tyres were. On my previous experiences with Michelin tyres, I have always liked the stability and grip that was offered with their Downhill range of tyres, and was unsure what to expect with these lighter weight, more Cross Country orientated models.
Once they arrived the first thing I noticed was how light the tyres were, probably due to the Kevlar folding beading and tough, but not overbuilt construction of the casing. One of my worries were that they would have skinny sidewalls like other lightweight tyres, but these have thicker than normal sidewalls giving added stability whilst still retaining a light weight.
The tyres have a deep tread pattern that is flexible and helps the tyre clear mud...

an overview of michelin tyres.
Review of Michelin MXV3 A by
binnie_1982
Advantages: excellent grip and life
Disadvantages: price,
...in my opinion, these are the best tyres you can buy for reasonable money, on our customers cars we see excellent life expectancy, toyota landcruisers with michelin MXT fitted (275/70R16) regularly see in excess of 80.000 miles out of the rear tyres, good considering these 4x4's are massive!! toyota avensis fitted with 195/60R15H MXV3A michelin energy tyres have excellent grip and also see around 50,000 miles from the front tyres if driven normally, we never have any compliants about tyre distortion or going out of balance, these tyres also seem t be the best constructed, and need very little (if any) balance weights to balance the tyres when fitting, for those doing lower milage, michelin tyres also seem to have the best resistance to perishing that i have seen, i wholeheartedly reccomend them and use them myself
thanks for tking...

Michelin Energys
Review of Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus XSE by
Hsaxo
Advantages: Long lasting, brilliant grip
Disadvantages: None!
...Michelin Energy
A tyre designed to reduce running costs and respects the environment with these tyres on your car is said to use less fuel and last longer than other brands.
On a wet road they help make a shorter stopping distance making them a super safe tyre to have on your car.
These tyres are designed for, city cars, MPV and family cars.
These come as standard on my model of car so have been using this the 2 and a half years I have had it, I have found them to be a brilliant tyre, very long lasting and keeping grip right un-till the end of their lifespan. They also wear evenly so if you buy a set as long as none become damaged they should all be ready for being replaced at around the same time. They are not at all road noisy and do not pull the car around at all. They are very good in the wet maybe no as good...

* Good "all round" tyre! . .
Review of Michelin XZX by
smudgeybabes
Advantages: Lasts well, has grip too.
Disadvantages: None.
...'s most recognized trademarks, representing the company in over 150 countries.
The XZX tyre, is an old well proven design, and it is a good compromise between good grip, and durability. It is a good buy for the average motorist. It can not be called a noisy tyre.
If you think I have overdone the history lesson, please feel free to tell me. Thanks....
