The Gold Pocket Watch
Review of For A Few Dollars More (Wide Screen) by
andycharger
Advantages: Great film
Disadvantages: bad dubbing
...I think this has got to be the best Western film ever made.
Why do I think this? Well, it has all the neccessary components of a classic Spagetti Western.
If has plenty of action.....
It has loads of bad Dubbing.....
It has a nasty Villain.....
It has Lee Van Cleef and Clint Eastwood in it.....
The story revolves around the Gangster Indio who a rather large price on his head.
Only problem is, no one is man enough to take him on.
That is until Lee Van Cleef and Clint Eastwood come to town.
Eastwood arrives first, paying a small boy to warn him of any other strangers in town.
When in the guethouse, the ugly land lady takes a shine to him. Poor man.
When Van Cleef arrives, a very funny scene happens outside the guesthouse with a Chinaman taking the bags in.
One man orders the little man in and one orders him out. He gets so...

More - And why not
Review of For A Few Dollars More (Wide Screen) by
wemstalker
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: None
...In this one (the second dollar movie) Eastwood once again plays the man with no name. Only now he’s become a bounty hunter. After claiming rewards on a few relative nobodies he goes after the big one, a man called Indio, (Gian Maria Volonte) and his ruthless gang who go around terrorising the citizens of the Wild West.
Enter Colonel Douglas Mortimer (Lee Van Cleef) he is also going after Indio, but for his own very different reasons. At first Eastwood and Van Cleef are at loggerheads, (two men going after the same prey can cause problems.) But after a while they come to a compromise and team up, and together they go after the outlaws, plenty of cool action follows, but can the two men get through it without killing each other?
Again directed by Leone this movie really hits the spot. Eastwood as usual is at his silent best...

Il Buono, il brutto, il cattivo,
Review of The Good Bad And The Ugly (Special Edition) by
elixirsoo
Advantages: Good story; Great Music;
Disadvantages: Can be addictive
...Director: Serge Leone
Musical Score: Ennio Morricone
Starring: Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach
Eastwood plays Blondie 'the man with no name' who is The Good. Van Cleef plays Angel Eyes, who is The Bad and Wallach plays Tuco who is The Ugly.
The film begins with Blondie turning in Tuco, a bandit, for the reward and riding away. It turns out to be a scam they run, with Blondie using his rifle to shoot through the rope when Tuco is getting hung. This opening part of the film is about ten minutes long and has no dialogue.
The rest of the story is played out during the American Civil War and involves each of the main characters learning something which will help locate a lost army payroll. This film has very funny scenes and also some extremely sad moments, which involve what was a very brutal Civil War. The final face...

The Good the Bad and the Brilliant
Review of The Good Bad And The Ugly (Wide Screen) by
Bandit_Haze
Advantages: Amazing
Disadvantages: None
...This is probably one the finest westerns ever made. From beginning to the end it is simply brilliant. The story of the man with no name continues in the third instalment of Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns. Clint Eastwood is at his best Lee Van Cleef is always impressive but Eli Walach’s portrayal of Tuco was the best. What I like most about the film is that it is 2 and half hours long and does not have a single wasted scene. It stays intense throughout the entire film right from the opening scene with to the very last. This is of cause partly to do with Ennio Morrocone’s haunting musical score.
Ignore ‘weak’ for special effects, there are not any....

Go on spend a few dollars more.
Review of For A Few Dollars More (Wide Screen) by
oldgoth
Advantages: good film
Disadvantages: it is a cowboy film
...to be the classic western, cowboys and big guns, it was actually base on Akira Kurosawa's samurai epic Yojimbo. This is not that unusual, as the Magnificent Seven is a western remake of the classic Seven Samurai, and it as been claimed that the idea of the Seven Samurai is based on old western movies, thus completing the circle.
The films main stars are Clint Eastwood who plays the bounty hunter Mango, otherwise known as the man with no name. Lee Van Cleef who plays Colonel Mortimer, a bounty hunter with a face like a weasel but with the bite of a rattlesnake. Gian Maria Volonte who plays the notorious bandit El Indio, who enjoys killing people to the sound of a pocket watch that plays a simple tune.
The basic plot of the film is that Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef track down Gian Maria Volonte, for the reward money. While this is the basic plot...

...Technical Details

About the Film
The Good, the Bad and The Ugly, written by Age-Scarpelli, Luciano Vincenzoni and Sergio Leone is the third and last western in Clint Eastwood's spaghetti trilogy.
Director Sergio Leone substitutes for the upright puritan Protestant Ethos, so familiar in Hollywood westerns, with a seedy cynical standpoint towards death and morality, as a team of brutal bandits battle to unearth a fortune buried beneath an unmarked grave.
Clint Eastwood plays "The Good" and is joined by the Ugly "Eli Wallach" and the Bad "Lee Van Cleef". This film is a complex plot of bloodshed and betrayel as it winds its way through...
