The ruler's wack?
Review of Ruler's Back, The [PA] - Slick Rick by
ingyant
Advantages: lyrics
Disadvantages: rushed, does not match up to the first album.
...themselves are not that bad in comparison to the first album but his bizzare delivery allows many of them to go fairly unnoticed.
The album lacked the commercial success of 'the great adventures of slick rick', this is not at all surprising, but the album does seem to reflect the condition Rick was in at the time, and the messy, rushed style may be a snapshot of the stress that the artist was feeling.
'I shouldn't have done it' is a decent story of the result of cheating on a lover and 'it's a boy' is about the experiences of being a father. These two songs stand out the most and are closest to the storytelling vibe that he used to give off.
Overall, an album which is worth buying if you are an actual slick rick fan. But to really get the most out of the Ruler I highly recommend 'the adventures of slick rick'....

RnB Pop At it's best...
Review of Survivor [ECD] - Destiny's Child by
DAN2000G
Advantages: The strong lyrics
Disadvantages: The lack of instant chorus catchiness
...' and not to mention the fabulous summery 'Happy face' which is something new from the girls. There is some Destiny's child Dance in here with the tracks 'Sexy Daddy' and 'Dance With me'. Then comes a parade of beautiful ballads, beyonce sings the disney style 'My Heart Still beats' as a solo track followed by the cover of the beegee written song 'Emotion'. 'Brown Eyes' has a slight oriental feel and the beat comes back for the ballad 'Dangerously in love'. 'The story of beauty' is in my opinion the best track on the album just ahead of 'Happy face' as it tells a sad story of a girl who is abused by her step father but the vibe of the song is slick and fun. The album finishes with a gospel medley and their thank you song which shows their religious beliefs and their voices off.
Overall this album is excellent being co-produced and co-written by beyonce...

Slick Rock
Review of X [Remastered] - INXS by
Salgirl
Advantages: Professional through and through
Disadvantages: A bit samey
...Considering the tragic and recent events, the opening track of "Suicide Blonde" is very spooky. I haven't been able to listen to this with the same kind of enjoyment since, but it's a great track to rock out to.
"Disappear" is a much more melodious song. As with all the tracks, the beat is driving, the drumming is clean and crisp. Great to "doododoododoo" along with.
Bit of a gentle build up on "The Stairs", that gradually levels out to a decent slow rock. I like the way that Hutchence gets a distinctive sound in his voice with little apparent effort.
Slightly more boppy feel (well, it's 1990 and a certain 80's vibe is still going on) with "Faith In Each Other." Not much impact on the rock level, which I prefer, but it's still an okay track.
This is about as slow as it gets on here, the rather lovely "By My Side". Michael Hutchence...

Not As Good as her Last - But Some Great Tracks
Review of Moodring - Mya by
Pmshack99
Advantages: some great songs
Disadvantages: some dull songs
...shallow but entertaining.
Step - some more slick r & b but with a slightly more straightforward tune. Mya seems to be looking for a fight in this one!
Sophisticated Lady - this is clearly Mya's attempt at a disco anthem and it actually works pretty well! It has a very old fashioned vibe to it, but is all the better for it.
Hurry Up - catchy, fairly poppy r & b. This is one of my favourite songs on the album, I love the chorus.
Things Come & Go - This is a cheeky little reggae-fuelled number, featuring Sean Paul. It is undeniably cheesy but still a great one to dance to and sing along with. You'd probably get slagged off for liking it though!
You - I'm not into ballads but I don't mind this one. It's fairly simple and has a sweet chorus. Not too much vocal acrobatics, which is always a bit of a turn-off, but still manages to showcase Mya...

Diana Ross's RCA Records Debut Album
Review of Why Do Fools Fall - Diana Ross by
IanPhillips
Advantages: Contains a few great tracks
Disadvantages: A few weak links
...1950's. Why Diana felt the need to immediatley cover an old song when she was seemingly attempting to move on in life and create a fresh, vital sound was a mystery though she could of perharps felt secure with the fact that the song was already enduringly popular and, as everyone knew including Diana herself, leaving Motown had been a huge gamble.
Dianas bouncy and bubbly version of this classic, loses its origanal streets-of-New York vibe and is re-worked into what is, for all intents and purposes, pure Las Vegaz. Though typically meeting a negative response from critics, the recording was still a winner and quickly bounced into the Top 10 Singles Charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
This hastily leads into the slick, sultry, Sweet Surrender. This evocative, sexually charged number careers along at a hypnotic pace and through its trance...

Big Dance hits with a healthy dose of Motown
Review of vibe - fm by
rjs26
Advantages: Lots of Dance.
Disadvantages: Not in Leicester
...Vibe FM is the best radio stattion in the east of England. Being at University in Leicester I am dissapointed to be 10 miles away from the reception I take for granted.
Vibe is far better than anything else in Norfolk/Suffolk etc. There's loads of Dance hits, new and old (or should I say Old Skool) Every now and then there is a Motown classic thrown in too.
It is a radio statio that is suitable for all sorts of occasions.
Just steer clear of Debbie Macks drive home thing, its very poor....

Its Got Vibe!!
Review of vibe - fm by
SecretFormula
Advantages: good evening music
Disadvantages: adverts!!
...Well Vibe FM has to be the best local radio station that East Anglia has!! I'm not sure as to what areas it actually covers but compared to other local radio stations we have, this definately stands well ahead of them. I do tend to listen to Vibe FM mainly in the evenings as they tend to play quite a lot of dance hits and remixes, which is what i like best, but they do tend to play a good selection of music throughout the day. My only complaint would be that they also like other local radio stations do have those dredded adverts!!!
So if you could delete them it would be even better!!! The DJ's are pretty good - they seem to be quite young and enjoy themselves in what they're doing!...

Timberlake Sex Sounds
Review of FutureSex/LoveSounds - Justin Timberlake by
RazzaLazza
Advantages: Funky, upbeat, and entertaining album well worth a listen
Disadvantages: Length of the interludes
...copies worldwide. It was thus a four year wait before this very album came about, and 'FutureSex/LoveSounds' was definitely worth the wait.
Kicking off with title track 'FutureSex/LoveSound' - the album starts as it means to go on; a great track with a chilled out vibe and incredible chorus. This one will have you singing along in no time, opening the album in style and leaving you excited about the sound the rest of the album will bring about. From here, we move on to the album's first single 'Sexy Back' and once again the album does not disappoint. It is 'Sexy Back' that first attracted me to the album - although at first I wasn't too sure about it, I soon found myself singing it when I least expected it. If you're not careful, this one could easily get stuck in your head for months with its intensely catchy beat, slick vocal styling...

It's Gonna Be A full moon tonight.
Review of Full Moon - Brandy by
JayHall1991
Advantages: This album is full of talented musicians and the absolutly brilliant Brandy
Disadvantages: Some slow ballads
...Songs
• Rocka Intro: The introduction of Full moon starts off as a remix of the highly infectious What About, but different beats get added and it becomes much more sensual than before a real good opener witch makes the listener automatically sit up and listen
• Full Moon: is probably one of the coolest songs I have ever heard, it mixes experienced R and B vibes, with Brandy’s gravely and beautiful voice. The lyrics are about her meeting someone really attractive and hitting on them. Really catchy chorus. Cool and Slick.
• I Thought: starts of with a very dancy opening, brandy hummes a simple beat as she starts singing with real emotion and aggression. Just makes you want to dance straight away with the completely driving beat, again a catchy chorus.
• When You Touch Me: Is a beautiful ballad from the outset its starts with Brandy...

Album Chart Raider
Review of Tomb Raider - Original Soundtrack by
steveMANUNITED
Advantages: Some excellent. modern songs.
Disadvantages: Many of the songs are unknown.
...The Tomb Raider album is one of the best movie soundtrack albums of the new century. It has a great blend of songs, ranging from the quick and slick rapping of MC Neutrino to the high-pitched voice of Bono from U2. I recommend this album to any potential buyers and if you have seen the movie you will notice some of these songs played in the background of some of the fighting scenes. Here is a review of my ‘top 5’ in order of preference:
01. Galaxy Bounce by the Chemical Brothers, a fantastic dance song and I would certainly request it at a disco. A real masterpiece of the ‘Chemical Brothers’, the best song on the album for me. A mix between trance and dance, also it is a blend between ‘Ibiza’ music and ‘Ayia Napa’. That is why it’s so much like clubbing music. I’m lost...
