...I went on a BTCV holiday in the summer of 2000, it was part of my Gold Duke of Edinburgh's award, and i am so glad that i went, i chose to go to Cumbria to help improve access to a new path by repairaing a wall and putting in stiles. We were staying in Alston and there were about 15 of us on the holiday, it was really hard work but very rewarding as we took a wall down, then repaired it from the foundations up until we reached a height where the stile would go in, we put this in and also rebuilt the rest of the wall before putting in a lambing plate to stop sheep escaping!!! However it wasn't all hardwork, the evenings were spent eating and down the pub plus we had two days off, one to Keswick shopping and hiking and another to walk part of Hadrian's wall and visit the local pool. fantastic. ......who has the straightest hair ot them all? ME!! And you can too! For I have found a tool, so great in power, that all women should posses a pair- Babyliss Thermaglass straighteners! These really are great. I don't know how I survived without them! I bought them for £75, a good price I thought! But the price has now dropped to around £60, so your getting a bargin price for salon quality straighteners. They are sleek in design, with Thermaglass plates ( a mirror-shine surface that glides through hair for minimum damage ) and a fab holder to hold them while hot, helping to retain heat. The holder can also be attached to the wall, so no more moans from him indoors about burning his toes! For the SAME price you get the option of two sizes, one for short hair, one for long. Advantages: Removes wallpaper quickly & cleanly

...is like being in the same room as a permanently boiling kettle. My preference was to start from the bottom and work up. Place the steam plate at bottom of the wall to be done. Hold in place for a few seconds then start moving it up gently pull the wallpaper away from the wall as you go. This operation is clean, easy and quick. The plate can be turned sideways to remove paper from the section of wall above door and ceiling. You will get approximately 45 minutes of continuous usage before you need to refill the tank. Our kitchen measures 10 ft x 10 ft and it took about 2 hours to strip off the mix of both standard and plastic coated wallpaper designed specially for kitchens and bathrooms. The plastic coated wallpaper took about 15-20 seconds to loosen the first 'square' of paper prior to peeling. The standard wallpaper only took 3... Read review

...Joe's Diner is an American style diner in Northampton town centre. The same company have two other similar diners in Northampton - Buddies and The Blue Plate Cafe. Personally I prefer Joe's as it is the biggest of the three, so you are not crammed in so much. The restaurant is decorated with a American theme. There's lots of paraphanalia attached to the walls and the ceiling. The tables are well arranged, some with red checked tablecloths, and others are tucked against the side walls, booth style. This creates a nice dining atmosphere, whether you are out with friends, or a loved one. There is an extensive menu, not just burgers as I initially thought it would be. It is wise to place the end of the hose with the steam attachment on it on a clean paint tray or other dispensible material to avoid collateral damage. Once the hissing started I eagerly attacked the wall. The effect was immediate. The hated rosebuds started to wilt and fell easy prey to the scrapper Because of the multilayers I had to go over the same areas several times but each time more and more succumbed and the campaign was successfully over in a fraction of the time it had taken me on similar operations. The glue and accumulated layers of paper can stick to the inside of the plate attachment and clog up the hole so you need to do a few running repairs with a long handled scrapper. ...different. Just then I noticed the plate that my sandwich was on was in a similarly dirty state. It was again caked with a thick layer of dirty food. I asked for it to be swapped also, but this time your assistant went through the pile of “clean” plates, discarding the top dozen or so into the sink after inspection and eventually found one that was fairly clean – I mean fairly clean. All of this happened without apology and the original sandwiches that had been on dirty plates were just transferred to clean plates. Come to your own conclusions but here are my thoughts: 1. There were four certificates of hygiene proudly displayed on the wall behind the staff – clearly the two staff working on Saturday didn’t have one – it was blatantly obvious that all the plates were dirty. ...you want to borrow our steamer. ? Yes please I said. So having woken up early the next day I unpacked the steamer. This consisted of a rectangular plastic tank to put water in and a hose that you attached to the fitting on the tank. And there is a flat plate to attach to the hose this disperses the steam over a wider area. There is an electric lead and a plug. There is a small amount of information provided. Not really very good instructions. So duly filled tank with water there is a maximum and minimum fill mark on it. I switched the electricity on I waited for the water to heat took about 10 minutes from cold. It was quicker when I filled it with hot water.
