...As promised here is the second part of my history of stockings. The golden era of stockings: The 1950’s What occurs to me is that one can't take fashion/clothing in isolation. I was born in 1958 and have memories of working and living in the '70s. Specifically, I spent my childhood in Scotland and moved to London in 1977. My memories of the 'good old days' are of fuzzy, black and white TVs, music from a mono record player or hissy tranny, or a 'Stereogram' with the speakers about two foot apart! Noisy uncomfortable cars like the Hillman Imp, prejudice, and women kept in total subjugation. (You could be a waitress or bus conductress but NOT a manager!) Stockings or girdles or slips are all very well for those special occasions, but would you want to be trapped permanently in the past if it meant adopting all the other trappings... Read review

...If you need to stock up your freezer with quick convenience foods, then this is the place to come. Very good value store, especially for things like chips/pototo products, fish fingers, chicken nuggets, sausages, sausage rolls etc. Excellent if you want party food. Not very good if you follow a healthy eating plan, and need low fat foods, as a lot of their meals are high in fat. They do a good range range of puddings, ice creams, frozen fruit and pies. Their gateaux are very good value and a good size too. Their blue and white carrier bags are free and are very strong and big, so are useful for mny other things. They are low priced, and always have a selection of good offers on - which can sometimes be out of stock.... Read review

...When my first son was born I didn't even realise that next done baby and kids clothing until my mother brought my newborn son a lovely all in one summer suit in white cotton, not having a next in the town where I lived I traveled over to a neighbouring town where they stocked a good selection of clothing for children and comparing the prices they were very reasonable and the quality is extremly good. The clothes wash up well and they are a very good fit, I have since had a second son and he is now wearing the same clothes as they have lasted brilliantly, Next is always my first choice for my childrens clothes, as they always have a good stock and they are very modern and stylish, and at last they have opened a shop in my own town, and if you ever need to change an item or need a refund they deal with them very efficently.... ...Peterhead is the biggest white-fish-landing port in Europe. It is also an oil industry base (perhaps as an annexe to Aberdeen, but no less important). It is known locally as "the Blue Toon", not as you may expect if you have visited, as a result of bodily parts rapidly turning blue in the cold north east wind which prevails here. Indigenous Peterheidians are known as "Blue Mogganers", deriving from the traditional sea-boot stockings of the whalers which originally gave Peterhead its place in maritime history (check out the town's museum). The "moggan" was a stocking, and the Peterhead whaleboatmen traditionally wore blue. As very distinct from the local rival port, Fraserburgh, whose inhabitants were known as "Puddlestinkers", but that's another story.... Read review

...This site is very good and easy to use. We used it to get, what we thought would be, a few items for the kids christmas, the total came to just over £15 and the parcel that was delivered was filled with loads of goodies. The site sells good things for low prices, such as there Metal detector for £3.75, it is a good one too. My son is 4 and wanted one, I baught it as a stocking filler and feel it is a great idea to shop at places like this. If you spend £15 the delivery is free. Delivered to the highlands within 4 days by White arrow, none of this securicor slowness from them. ..., Comfort and Fairy. As well as stocking branded products Netto stock their own products which are great value as long as you are not a label snob, which my fiance is!! All fresh meats stocked of quality assured and of a good quality and at reasonably stocked prices. Netto accept debit cards which they did not a few years ago, however they will not accept coupons, credit cards or cheques. Carrier bags are 5p so if you want to be kind to your environment use the ones that you have in the cupboards and keep them in your car so that you can save the pennies in your purse! Netto's main reason for success has to be that they remove all of the unnecessary extras by stocking the products tat customers need. ...I have shopped at Dixons for a number of years and always found them to offer great value for money on all their products. Staff at my local store are well informed, polite and friendly although they do like to try and sell you their extended warranties on products you have purchased. A good range of products are stocked ranging from white goods (fridges cookers etc), T.V's, videos, Hi-Fi's, cameras, camcorders etc. They also stock a good range of acessories from audio leads to video tapes, batteries, headphones etc. You name it they probably stock it. I have never experienced a major fault with anything I have bought from them, call me lucky I suppose. When I have had to call upon their customer service though it has been fast and efficient. Their repair service on faulty goods is excellent. Overall a great store.... Read review

...* The white maltesers smell like white chocolate. They are the same size as milk chocolate maltesers (about 1.5cm thick) When you first put a white malteser into your mouth you can taste the lovely, smooth, creamy, white chocolate. The chocolate is very sweet. When you bite into the white malteser you can still taste the white chocolate, but also the crispy, crunchy honeycombed centre. The biscuit inside is very bubbly and light. It is golden in colour, but does not have much taste as it is drowned out by the sweet white chocolate. After eating white maltesers the taste remaining in your mouth is very sweet and nice and leaves you wanting more. * My opinion * Although these little treats are very sweet, they are not sickly and they would be nice as a stocking filler this Christmas!
