...BBC News 24 is an alternative news feed to the long running Sky News. Broadcast direct from Broadcasting House in London, BBC News 24 incorporates the resources of BBC News into providing a rolling news service that anybody with the correct equipment can watch. The presentation of the channel is very formal indeed and it tries to contrast with the look of Sky News. Whereas Sky use a blue backdrop and feel to their output, the BBC use a deep red background in the studio portions of the output, complete with yellow pillars and a large glass table. It is this table that the presenters sit at and read from. The table only just about fits into the picture in the digibox's Wide Screen mode. ...I purchased the Ferguson FTV 28WN1, when my old Sony TV decided to die on me after many years of service. After looking at a number of TV’s in my local electrical store, I decided that the TV I really wanted (42inch Plasma) was a little bout of my price range. I also needed a TV the same day and as it appears all the good TV only have a low number in stock, so this limited my choice somewhat. I final selected the Ferguson FTV 28WN1 for a number of reasons, cost (£250 from Currys), availability (take away the same day) and features. As I had a 28inch wide screen TV before I did not wish to go down a size and I needed at least 2 SCART inputs (DVD and Satellite). ...The first thing that strikes you about this screen is the much improved aesthetics of the stand and bezel compared to Dell's previous offerings. The stand is not just a pretty face though as it allows for a wide range of adjustments to get the viewing angle just right (a feature not common on many new tfts). Inititally impressed with the screen I proceded to view some still images to see what the colour reproduction was like. To my eye I thought this was actually one of the best screens I have ever seen when it comes to colour depth. The main use of this screen for me was going to be writing C++ code in Visual Studio. This meant that text reproduction was absolutely critical as if the text was not sharp then spending 8 hours a day looking at it was not going to be a pleasent experience. ...Everybody seems to have gone wide screen recently, and you rarely hear about any other options. When my sister and I finally managed to convince our parents to buy us a new TV for our room, it looked like the main option was a wide screen. This seemed ok to us, but our parents weren’t willing to stretch the budget that far. They were all really expensive, and far too big for just a TV to put in our room. There was only limited other options, as all the shops and retails seemed to focus on wide screens and just have a small section for their normal TV’s. After a lot of searching and debating, we managed to find quite a good selection at our local Curry’s and then we were faced with the choice of which brand to choose. Advantages: It is a ~screen~.
Disadvantages: Large, cumbersome, and the wrong tables.

.... One last point that really does bug me - and again this is probably a personal preference - is that the screen is now 4 sheets of cardboard, not three. This has a great advantage in that you can make a nice, wide screen to hold two sets of notes behind, but it means bending back one of the screen's spines which I am loath to do. Also, DMs forced to work in more cramped quarters may find the screen too large, as it leaves little room for anything else at the DMs end of the table. So, to sum up, its not what I want in a DM's screen. At all. Too much poncy graphics, too large, and wrong tables anyway. Definitely try before you buy.... Read review

Advantages: Still good after so many films

...After watching the first three I thought that there was no way the producers could make another film as good. I was very wrong. It took a while (it seemed like a lifetime), but the end result was worth the wait. I made sure I cancelled any appointments and took a trip to the cinema for the advanced screenings. The story was good, the stunts were excellent and the jokes were still as funny as they were to begin with. I have now bought a copy for all of my friends to make sure everyone I know has seen it.
